The look Queen was sporting in those days , skin tight bellbottoms etc... was spawned from the glam/hard rock look of the seventies that even spilled into and influenced the early days of heavy metal especially the hair metal of the 80's. Queen has influenced many areas of music and has mad respect in all quarters.

I'm 46 years old and roughly a good 35 of them since a was a child due to circumstances in my life I have fought the temptations of committing suicide. About the only reason that kept me from killing my self is thinking about the pain that my mom would suffer from that. I knew other family members would also suffer but the one I really didn't want to suffer was my mom. That part that says "if I'm not back again this time tomorrow carry on" reminds me of those times when I came close to doing it and wishing my mom just carried on with life as nothing really mattered. Needless to say I have shed more than a few tears listening to this song

Loved your reaction. This one was wrote by Freddie Mercury (the lead singer) and it was basically 3 songs put into 1. It starts with a ballad style which moves into opera style and then to a rock section before finishing with the ballad style. As for the meaning of the song, that is highly contested and different people have their own understanding of what is meant in the song. Freddie would never say what he wanted the song to mean, he was one to let the listener have their own opinion of what a song meant. The other members of the band are: Freddie Mercury, (Lead Singer, Piano and rarely you will see him play Guitar); Brian May (Lead Guitar, Vocals and the one with the big fuzzy hair, it is like that even now); Roger Taylor (Drums and Vocals); and John Deacon (Bass Guitar). As for songs to listen to there are too many but a good start is the Live Aid 1985 Concert Set which is 20 minute long with 6 of their songs. There is a 7th song with just Freddie and Brian which they did later in the night. Songs there are: Bohemian Rhapsody, Radio GaGa (song that Lady Gaga got her name from), Hammer To Fall, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions. The extra song being Is This The World We Created? Other songs Another One Bites The Dust, It's A Kind of Magic, I Want It All, No-One But You, Bicycle Race and about 100 other great songs.

I've always just heard it as a story, like any other story: Boy screws up and kills someone, regrets it, gets caught and tried, then is going to have to face punishment and gets mad about it. It's up to everyone to decide for themselves what they experience in any song.

Freddie Mercury, Queen's (late) lead singer was a fan of opera, ballet, choir music, classical music, showtunes... it was his extraordinary vision of making a song that was a 'mock opera' in 1975. He wrote the basic structure, and then just kept adding layers and layers of vocals in the studio until this grand sound emerged that made 'Bohemian rhapsody' a stellar track and masterpiece. This 4th Queen album 'A night at the Opera' was one of the most expensive records ever made at that point. At the time, there was concern cos the song was 6 minutes long, it may not have been suitable for radio... but Queen persisted and it got such a massive response that a music video was made to promote it. Freddie asked for a shot of the 4 members singing to mimic the cover of their 2nd album 'Queen II' and make it 'come alive'... 'Bohemian rhapsody' proved worth the cost - it went to #1 all over the world in 1975 and made Queen superstars after years of struggling to make a career in music. After Freddie Mercury's death in 1991, the comedy movie "Wayne's World" had 'Bohemian rhapsody' on its soundtrack and the single became a top 10 hit again in 1992... And again in 2018 after the release of the biopic movie 'Bohemian rhapsody' starring Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury.

Check out their Live Aid performance. Only a 20 minute set outside in the middle of the day with no stage lights, and it's still considered one of the best live performances ever. Freddie Mercury is, in my opinion, the best front man in rock n' roll history.

For those frustrated at the amount of pausing she does please understand something. There are two reasons. First, they have pause the video in order to avoid a copyright violation. They are using content that is not theirs so if they do not change it at all it will get flagged. KZbin is very strict about that. The second reason is so the video can be monetized ( ability to make money off ads). You will see that most all of her videos are over 8 minutes long. That is because it enables ads during the middle of the video called "mid-rolls") in addition to having them at the beginnings and ends of videos. It takes a lot of time and money buying equipment and making reactions. Those are Google’s rules.

Bohemian Rhapsody is pronounced as "Bo-he-me-an Rap-so-de". Queen is a British rock band formed in 1970 consisting of: Freddie Mercury - Lead vocals and piano John Deacon - Bass guitar Roger Taylor - Drummer and vocals Brian May - Lead guitar and vocals Freddie is the composer of Bohemian Rhapsody. He never explained what it was supposed to mean or what his thought was as he wrote it. He wanted each listener to decide what it meant for themselves. He did admit that it is composed of 3 different songs that he had been writing but could never seem to finish. So he decided to mash them all together and add some bridges and transitions to make one song.

"Rhapsody" is a style of classical music, here's a definition I found: "Rhapsody is a piece of music of indeterminate length and with no formal structure, comprised of a number of different musical ideas. A Rhapsody is all about dynamics: light and shade, high and low, loud and soft, happy and sad… It’s a story, a journey and usually quite the musical ride." A rhapsody (I am trying to keep this as simple as possible) is a piece of music that contains a few different aspects of a theme or a few songs that are of a related topic that all work together to create a cohesive story and there will usually be no chorus. Bohemian refers to being different, usually in an artistic way. Freddie had three songs that he had never finished that followed the same theme so he put them together to form this song. As far as the meaning of the song is concerned, Freddie never said, he wanted to leave it up to the listener to decide what it meant to them. Apologies for posting this rather late, just found your reaction video. Nobody got the real reason why this song was made. As old as I am, I remember it clearly. In the 70's, especially in the early 70's, the going media response was that rock singers were mere screamers, gargling rocks and couldn't truly carry a tune. Freddie Mercury did this song and shut up all of the critics of Rock and Roll of that era. Pure genius is an understatement. :)

I'm glad you like their voices and talent. I find a good number of the late Millennials to Gen Z groups, when listening to the music from the 70s-90s, they get goosebumps, they feel things or are totally wrapped up. I think it's b/c they are hearing actual 'Singing' and 'Talent' without the Soundboard and Auto-Tune and 'Enhancements'. Like a 'Look' or a 'Gimmick'. Back then, if you had the Talent, you had it.

Yes, back then musicians had to pay their dues before landing a record contract. Nowadays, if you can download audio recording software from the internet you're halfway to stardom. The other half is about marketing your "brand".

U can watch the movie 'Bohemian rhapsody' to see the story of Queen a& Freddie Mercury, but it has inconsistencies... Freddie Mercury (not his real name) was born to a Parsi-Indian family that had settled in London, UK by the 60's... he and the other members of Queen were all university students and had graduated... but wanted to make music. Freddie saw a local band named Smile, which featured Brian May (guitar) and Roger Taylor (drums), and became a fan. In 1970, when their singer/ bassist quit, Freddie (who played piano) offered to sing for Smile... he renamed the band Queen (he wanted a regal name, and this was before he knew he was gay) and John Deacon (bass) joined. Freddie also designed the band's logo using the member's horoscope signs. Making original music for Queen was not financially rewarding, but they lived together and persisted... Freddie became engaged to his designer girlfriend Mary Austin, who often dressed him in colorful outfits. Queen finally got signed by EMI Records in England in 1973 and released their first album, proudly saying that no synthesizers were used to record the album. But it failed to sell commercially. In 1974, Queen had a growing reputation as a live band and toured Europe, Japan and the USA... they scored a hit single 'Killer queen' which was Freddie's take on cabaret music. Of course, when the single 'Bohemian rhapsody' became a #1 hit from their 4th album 'A night at the opera', Queen became stars overnight and all 5 Queen albums went into the charts. Each member of Queen wrote songs separately, and there was a lot of creative fighting between them... but Freddie was often the peacemaker, because he had to sing most of the songs. Brian May and Roger Taylor contributed vocals as well, and vocal harmonies became a trademark of Queen's sound. In 1977, their songs 'We will rock you' and 'We are the champions' became huge sports anthems all over the world, even today. It was around that time that Freddie Mercury finally came around that he was gay... he and Mary Austin split up, but they remained close friends until his death... Queen moved to West Germany as tax exiles in the late 70's, and Freddie Mercury was free to indulge in the gay scene there... By 1980, he cut his hair short and grew a mustache. Queen also went through changes musically... they started using electronics and synthesizers, incorporating pop music and had a huge #1 disco single in 1980 - 'Another one bites the dust' (written by John Deacon)... but the next album 'Hot space' in 1982 was a disappointment. Queen fans in the USA hated their new 'pop' sound and the band's popularity crashed by 1983... Freddie Mercury saw Michael Jackson become a superstar in 1983, and he wanted to make a solo career, but he was disappointed in what became his only solo album 'Mr. Bad Guy'... In 1984, Queen came back from hiatus and finished the album 'The Works'... it was a huge hit worldwide, but a flop in the US, so Queen toured the world but skipped North America. In 1985, Queen took the stage for a short set for charity at Live Aid 1985 and conquered Wembley Stadium in London that day over every pop act that played there over 2 days. Queen were playing stadiums all over Europe on their 1986 tour for the album 'A kind of magic'... Sadly, that would be their final tour. While on a break in 1987, Freddie Mercury was diagnosed w/ AIDS... only a few people knew - his partner, Queen's members and managers, and Mary Austin... were told briefly. Freddie never publicly acknowledged he was gay, and he asked that his diagnosis not be made public, so the band respected his wishes and worked to make new music w/ him, knowing that Freddie Mercury would soon be gone... Despite his illness, Freddie Mercury recorded vocals for 2 new Queen albums 'The Miracle' (1989) and 'Innuendo' (1991)... they refused to tour and made music videos to promote the records. But Freddie was too ill to be on camera by 1991. In the fall, he returned to his home in England in failing health and died in late 1991, his last act was issuing a statement that he did have AIDS. Queen performed their final show at Wembley stadium in 1992 w/ guest vocalists singing Queen's songs... the band released their final album 'Made in heaven' in 1995 w/ vocal tracks Freddie Mercury had recorded before his death. Years later, w/ Queen's music surging in popularity, Brian May and Roger Taylor decided to tour w/ a solo singer and perform Queen songs in concert around 2004 (bassist John Deacon had since retired)... From 2014 (?) til today, they perform w/ A.I. singer Adam Lambert as "Queen + Adam Lambert" .

Congratulations, you found a band you will want to listen forever. For your next reaction, I suggest "Somebody To Love - Live In Montreal 81", you'll see them a decade later, on stage (it's very different from the studio version) and you'll be able to spot some glaring differences and the way they evolved since Bohrap. That, and the fact it's one of the best Queen's performaces EVER. You'll see, there is a motive for it to have so many views. And then, for the next one after that, I suggest "Queen in Live Aid", it's a short 20 min performace, but they totally put that entire thing down. Just imagine real big names were there, like Elton John and David Bowie, and no one could match Queen that day. On the band itself, we have Freddie Mercury on vocals and piano (you will probably recognize him better when you see him with a mustache. He is, even today, considered one of the best frontmans of the world). He's was born in Zanzibar, met the others at uni in London (he's graduated in Art and Graphic Design, and he's the responsible for the logo and a lot of Queen related arts). Sadly, he died from a pneumony aggravated by AIDS in 1991. However, just a week before dying, he was still singing and recording, songs like The Show Must Go On and Mother Love (Brian May had to finish the vocals for him, because he died before finishing) were recorded with Freddie literaly in his deathbed, by his own wish. Kind of a big lesson of resilience for those singers who cancel shows for the most insignificant motives... However, different from other bands, the frontman is just a puzzle piece: The others are equally important for Queen's success, in every aspect. They all had input in almost every song, and to put anything in a Queen's album, you would have to fight for it, to convince the others your idea was better than theirs. This made the songs musically perfect, and because each had a different taste in music, everyone who listen to them will like it somehow. This and the fact every single member of the band was a genius in their own right: So, we have Brian May on guitar and second vocals... Fun facts about this guy: The hair is natural, and today, as a 74 years old, he still uses it that way, now all white. He created that red and black guitar himself as a teenager, and alongside Freddie, was the main songwriter of the band (they competed, that led to many brilliant songs and hilarious stories). He's a certified genius with a PhD in astrophysics, worked with NASA on the New Horizons project, and wrote the manual they use to calculate the movemment of space dust. That, and he invented the stereoscopic, something you use for stereo photography. Oh, and has an amazing work saving wildlife with the Save Me Trust project. And still plays with Queen, has a solo project and always plays alongside other bands. Yeah, the guy is a total multitasker and still going as we talk. Then we have Roger Taylor on drums and second vocals (he is the responsible for this very high falsetto you hear).As a songwriter, he's the main responsible for songs like "Radio Ga Ga" (the song that inspired Lady Gaga to create her artistic name), "Innuendo", "A Kind Of Magic" and "I'm In love With My Car" (where he played all instruments). Away from Queen, this blond multi instrumentist was the main singer and guitarrist (he's good, in a different style from Brian) of The Cross, and now has a solo work that just finished a short experimental pos-pandemic tour. Alongside Brian, he still plays as Queen, now with guest singers. And when he met the others at uni, he had just dropped dentistry and then graduated in biology. And finally, John Deacon in bass... and accidental second vocals (sadly, he's too shy to sing, and normally, his mic is turned off... normally, not always, but he didn't need to know that). He's an engineer, and he himself invented the amp both him and Brian use in this song and many others. He was the youngest and lastest to enter the band (he was a 19 years old teenager), however, his talent as a financist was the one thing that saved Queen many times. John is silent (like all bassists), but a very cunning guy, and made many good songs, like "You Are My Best Friend", "One Year Of Love", "Another One Bites The Dust" and "I Want To Break Free" (I really suggest you to react to this song's video, you'll laugh forever). He retired from Queen in 1996, after the last great tribute to Freddie, to stay with his wonderfull family, and avoids the press the best he can. Since I spoke about the songs, as you could see, all of them are brilliant songwriters, and some of these songs you probably knows even if you don't know it's a Queen's song. We hear them all the time, everywhere. Welcome to the best musical journey of your life! I hope you like the ride.

This song is off their album at, "A Night At The Opera." Released in 1975 at a time when most bands were using synthesizers this album was recorded with the use of none. Cheer musical mastery. ✌️❤️🌹
