@@alberto-os1bx Yes. You haven't heard any symphonic metal bands. Queen did just the one song where "From opera to rock to opera again to heavy metal to folk-rock again" applies. Nightwish etc do that in EVERY song and have been for almost 30 years. So it isn't rare.

Hmmm… yeah, as a label “Mozart” but what would that make of Bach, Beethoven, Hayden, Handel etc? And then there’s the sheer volume of classical music… hundreds of pieces that did not rely on words for “literal” meaning… Just saying, I went thru my Rock period and my Latin (music) period but the bulk of work that one can go thru from Back to Stravinsky does make Rock seem like a “blip” in the musical universe…

Yeah, when only Dukes and Archbishops were paying for - incidental - music… the financial impetus to write music was sufficiently meager to convince the Best they should compose the BEST! Today, Muscian’s get paid millions for every tune they churn out in composition AND performance… so there is little time for quality, consideration or experimentation.

The look Queen was sporting in those days , skin tight bellbottoms etc... was spawned from the glam/hard rock look of the seventies that even spilled into and influenced the early days of heavy metal especially the hair metal of the 80's. Queen has influenced many areas of music and has mad respect in all quarters.

@@mnomadvfx Of course, Queen drew from many diverse influences in terms of their sound and look changing like chameleons all along their career, my point is that they were full fledged hard rockers especially early on in their run, they took and gave a lot but everything they did was uniquely their own at the end of the day.

I'm 46 years old and roughly a good 35 of them since a was a child due to circumstances in my life I have fought the temptations of committing suicide. About the only reason that kept me from killing my self is thinking about the pain that my mom would suffer from that. I knew other family members would also suffer but the one I really didn't want to suffer was my mom. That part that says "if I'm not back again this time tomorrow carry on" reminds me of those times when I came close to doing it and wishing my mom just carried on with life as nothing really mattered. Needless to say I have shed more than a few tears listening to this song

Freddie Mercury, Queen's (late) lead singer was a fan of opera, ballet, choir music, classical music, showtunes... it was his extraordinary vision of making a song that was a 'mock opera' in 1975. He wrote the basic structure, and then just kept adding layers and layers of vocals in the studio until this grand sound emerged that made 'Bohemian rhapsody' a stellar track and masterpiece. This 4th Queen album 'A night at the Opera' was one of the most expensive records ever made at that point. At the time, there was concern cos the song was 6 minutes long, it may not have been suitable for radio... but Queen persisted and it got such a massive response that a music video was made to promote it. Freddie asked for a shot of the 4 members singing to mimic the cover of their 2nd album 'Queen II' and make it 'come alive'... 'Bohemian rhapsody' proved worth the cost - it went to #1 all over the world in 1975 and made Queen superstars after years of struggling to make a career in music. After Freddie Mercury's death in 1991, the comedy movie "Wayne's World" had 'Bohemian rhapsody' on its soundtrack and the single became a top 10 hit again in 1992... And again in 2018 after the release of the biopic movie 'Bohemian rhapsody' starring Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury.

Loved your reaction. This one was wrote by Freddie Mercury (the lead singer) and it was basically 3 songs put into 1. It starts with a ballad style which moves into opera style and then to a rock section before finishing with the ballad style. As for the meaning of the song, that is highly contested and different people have their own understanding of what is meant in the song. Freddie would never say what he wanted the song to mean, he was one to let the listener have their own opinion of what a song meant. The other members of the band are: Freddie Mercury, (Lead Singer, Piano and rarely you will see him play Guitar); Brian May (Lead Guitar, Vocals and the one with the big fuzzy hair, it is like that even now); Roger Taylor (Drums and Vocals); and John Deacon (Bass Guitar). As for songs to listen to there are too many but a good start is the Live Aid 1985 Concert Set which is 20 minute long with 6 of their songs. There is a 7th song with just Freddie and Brian which they did later in the night. Songs there are: Bohemian Rhapsody, Radio GaGa (song that Lady Gaga got her name from), Hammer To Fall, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions. The extra song being Is This The World We Created? Other songs Another One Bites The Dust, It's A Kind of Magic, I Want It All, No-One But You, Bicycle Race and about 100 other great songs.

Bohemian Rhapsody is pronounced as "Bo-he-me-an Rap-so-de". Queen is a British rock band formed in 1970 consisting of: Freddie Mercury - Lead vocals and piano John Deacon - Bass guitar Roger Taylor - Drummer and vocals Brian May - Lead guitar and vocals Freddie is the composer of Bohemian Rhapsody. He never explained what it was supposed to mean or what his thought was as he wrote it. He wanted each listener to decide what it meant for themselves. He did admit that it is composed of 3 different songs that he had been writing but could never seem to finish. So he decided to mash them all together and add some bridges and transitions to make one song.

She could react only with her face and talk about it later, but I think pausing and comenting with the first things that come to their minds is a very good way of react to things. If I want to listen the song uninterrupted, well, I go and listen the song by myself.

For those frustrated at the amount of pausing she does please understand something. There are two reasons. First, they have pause the video in order to avoid a copyright violation. They are using content that is not theirs so if they do not change it at all it will get flagged. KZbin is very strict about that. The second reason is so the video can be monetized ( ability to make money off ads). You will see that most all of her videos are over 8 minutes long. That is because it enables ads during the middle of the video called "mid-rolls") in addition to having them at the beginnings and ends of videos. It takes a lot of time and money buying equipment and making reactions. Those are Google’s rules.

True. It also puzzles me that people could look at a video and take the time to complain about the contents not being exactly to their taste... Who does everyone think they are!? There are enough options on the internet for everyone to be pleased, so why people can not just move away from the things they don't like (without broadcasting their opinions), I'll never understand.

Bohemian Rhapsody. In case the meaning is lost in translation, a Bohemian is not just someone from Czech Republic, it's a person who cares about nothing and lives for pleasure and stimulation. "Rhapsody" is a style of classical music, here's a definition I found: "Rhapsody is a piece of music of indeterminate length and with no formal structure, comprised of a number of different musical ideas. A Rhapsody is all about dynamics: light and shade, high and low, loud and soft, happy and sad… It’s a story, a journey and usually quite the musical ride." The person being depicted in the song took their Bohemian lifestyle too far, killing a man just to see what it felt like, and now regrets his choices.

No need to apologize. Queen makes epic music. It's funny you mention that it's like from an opera, because the album that this was on was literally called "A Night at the Opera." Check out their Live Aid performance. Only a 20 minute set outside in the middle of the day with no stage lights, and it's still considered one of the best live performances ever. Freddie Mercury is, in my opinion, the best front man in rock n' roll history.

This was originally 3 unfinished pieces or songs that he (the singer) was writing. They needed one more song for the album to be complete. He combined the 3 and wrote an arrangement to link them together. It became the hit song of that album.

Good music can touch lots of people. Great music touches everyone in a unique way only to them. Queen wrote great music.

When I was in high school, my social studies teacher subscribed to PRAVDA. It was fascinating to me? It offered a glimpse into a world that I had never seen. That was many years ago. I think that I was the only one that read it. It was translated into English. We also recieved Television of Monty Pythons Flying Circus, from England. It was SO cool, to see and learn about others cultures. I wish you well.

1. Their producers didn't want them to do this because it was too long for radio. 2. This was their masterpiece. 4/20 😎

A rhapsody (I am trying to keep this as simple as possible) is a piece of music that contains a few different aspects of a theme or a few songs that are of a related topic that all work together to create a cohesive story and there will usually be no chorus. Bohemian refers to being different, usually in an artistic way. Freddie had three songs that he had never finished that followed the same theme so he put them together to form this song. As far as the meaning of the song is concerned, Freddie never said, he wanted to leave it up to the listener to decide what it meant to them. As you experienced, you found a piece of yourself and your life in this song so you reacted perfectly. Thank you for your reaction.

Freddie Mercury. The singer piano player. Came back from a opera. One night and that's where the inspiration for this. Song and the whole. Night at the opera album came. From i Dare you put on some headphones. And listen to the entire album straight through. No interruptions your mind will go. Bye bye as in. A good way.

Queen absolutely amazing talented band all the members of Queen have written no1 hits, Queens greatest hits is still the best selling album of all time in the Uk 🇬🇧, the we’re the best band ever famous for their legendary flamboyant live concerts, Bohemian Rhapsody no1 for 9 weeks in 1975 , and no1 again in the 90s for 5 weeks, they have a huge catalog of songs , all the members of Queen are amazing musicians, I attended many live Queen concerts in the 70s and 80s no auto tune in these days just pure genius and talent!

great art, the best stuff.. the truly legendary pieces... they connect. that is what they do. they connect us to each other, connect us to ourselves, connect us to the artist, connect us to something higher. and if there's one thing freddie knew how to do... it's connect with the audience.

This is the very first ever rock opera. Freddie was a genius. He was also dying of Aids, which is what the lyrics are about.

How wrong the record labels were! Bohemian Rhapsody was at No.1 in the UK singles charts for 9 weeks in 1975 and it achieved the same feat for a second time in 1991 following Freddie's untimely death from AIDS.

I'm glad you like their voices and talent. I find a good number of the late Millennials to Gen Z groups, when listening to the music from the 70s-90s, they get goosebumps, they feel things or are totally wrapped up. I think it's b/c they are hearing actual 'Singing' and 'Talent' without the Soundboard and Auto-Tune and 'Enhancements'. Like a 'Look' or a 'Gimmick'. Back then, if you had the Talent, you had it.

Yes, back then musicians had to pay their dues before landing a record contract. Nowadays, if you can download audio recording software from the internet you're halfway to stardom. The other half is about marketing your "brand".
