First of all, NEVER be afraid or ashamed of crying, whatever your gender or whatever is. Music is about emotions, and Queen were masters of conveying those emotions. I have not found a single song by this legendary band that did NOT stir something deep in me, even their silliest ones like "Fat Bottomed Girls". Freddie Mercury was a genuine genius, there are a lot of "myths" and "legends" that will NEVER be confirmed nor negated about him (by deliberate choice), like the story of how he recorded "The show must go on" in one take, after his band mates asked him if he felt like it while literally on his death bed, answering "yeah let's do this", downing a shot of vodka and giving everything while suffering from multiple organ failure. That band changed the world (and themselves) several times, they STILL have a worldwide impact three decades later, everyone on, in and around this planet has at least heard a couple of lines of at least one of their songs without realizing it ... and their lyrics always have several layers of meaning, hitting deep "right in the feels". Honestly, ALL their songs are so good they hurt, most often in good ways, but some just tear your heart and soul into pieces. You really should listen to them all, because they are too beautiful to miss, but be braced, I'm a 50 yo male survivor of PTSD and numerous painful events, and I still cry listening to some songs like the first day I heard them. Stay strong, enjoy life, and enjoy music.

Roger Taylor was inspired to write this song by his son who was a toddler saying "radio caca" when he didn't like what he heard on the radio. Roger's common-law wife was French so their son spoke french. Caca means poo in french. If you listen carefully the first words of the chorus say "all we hear is radio caca". My favourite lines are "you made 'em laugh, you made 'em cry, you made us feel like we could fly." I love that you are so moved by Queen songs. Don't apologize for getting emotional. Buckle up for another of Roger's best songs , These Are the Days of Our Lives, also written for his children, but also a reminiscing of the life of the band and an emotional goodbye to the fans from Freddie.💔

Fun Fact: Lady Gaga favorite band is Queen and she created her name as a hommage to this song, as well as Queen. Also, this video is based upon the movie "Metropolis", a silent film from 1927. Every single movie that you've ever seen was inspired by this movie. It literally defined that approach to making movies throughout the 20th century. It's considered by many to be one the greatest films ever made. What is so timeless about that movie is, nearly more than 100 years later, it's only become more relevant.

Like you saw in LiveAid the crowd responded to Freddie and the guys. So many performers can get large crowds to interact, but there was always something special about Freddie and Queen's relationship with their fans. I remember the day Freddie died. The day prior, a press release confirmed his illness but no one was surprised, his fans knew. However, the next day came as a shock to me; I had taken the announcement that his health was failing but not that he was, quite literally, on his deathbed. The press was so cruel, what an evil, horrible way to earn a living. For me, Freddie's death amplified the pain the world had been going through for several years. He wasn't the first celebrated person to die of AIDS and he wasn't the last, but he and Queen were special in my life so Freddie's suffering touched me greatly. The turmoil of those years are difficult to put into words. Lives were slipping through our fingers and there was nothing to stop it; the afflicted were blamed for their own demise. Awful. RIP, dear Freddie and every other soul who suffered and died.

It will absolutely break your heart but you should listen to Queen's "The Show Must Go On." Freddie was pretty ill by the time they recorded it, but from what I've read despite being very sick he came into the studio and nailed it in one take and it is his absolute life statement. "Bohemian Rhapsody" may be Queen's masterpiece but "the show must go on" was Freddy's mission statement. It is an absolute tour de Force. And a somewhat related song by Rush "Nobody's Hero" the first verse of which is a reference to Freddy and which is a terrific song in it's own right.

the visuals are based on the old b&w movie "metropolis" the lyrics are freddy reminiscing fondly about the time before TV, when people would listen to the radio and get all their information and entertainment from it. the magic of radio was that you had to use your imagination and form the images from what you heard. at the same time, he is lamenting the fact that radio was losing its original sense of wonder, and became more controlled by corporate entities that commercialized and dumbed-down the music for wider audiences, making it more rote and less emotional. families don't crowd around a big radio in the living room anymore. it's a less-intimate experience now.

i think what makes this song so overwhelming is that there's an unspoken connotation of family, home. "someone still loves you" is not only a nostalgic look back at the times when radio was technically the state of the art for information and entertainment, and teenage years experience. it's also a reference to a radio being the center of a family gathering - with a special nod to the important role radio played for our parents and grandparents (in the 1980s) during war times.

Your tears are so beautiful and so pure! When you thank Freddie I can almost see him laughing, smiling, and saying "You're welcome, darling!". It's hard to hold back emotion listening to that record. The arrangement is all about good music trying to survive. The bright piano, the bass sounding fretless (I think it's not, but it sounds like it), and the slide guitar, all cover up that all-electronic sound of the intro, which symbolizes the direction pop music was taking. Things were getting artificial and somehow it was not all about music anymore.

A brilliant song and a great album, one of so many.. Whilst my own experience is no unusual it is the case that I've been following Queen since they captivated the 4 year old me with Bohemian Rhapsody. Having grown up with them it's always a joy to share in reactions, especially when it's alongside someone who discovers a similar level of joy. Those reflections of Freddie always come home when you see or hear anything of him.. that aspect is part of his legend and legacy, and he always seemed to just brush it off with a certain nonchalance - I think he'd be both amazed and even perhaps a little embarrassed at how his legacy continues. Worry not, you aren't going to run out of Queen to react to any time soon 🥰

You got more out of this song and the video than a majority of other reacts that have that watched Live Aid and the video. Queen has been a solid part of my life for as long as I can remember, and this is the Freddie I chose to remember. Yes we lost a major talent too soon but his legend and legacy will live forever!

If Stacey watches Love of my life, she will be crying a new Pacific ocean. One song I've never seen anyone recommend is "39" from the Queen Live Killers. I don't know why, but always makes me emotional.
