The day after Freddie died I was driving to first proper job in Bristol, SW England. They announced Freddie had died on the radio and played bohemian rhapsody and radio gaga back to back. I looked around at the traffic lights, and every one was singing along to the radio in time with a tear in their eye. Everyone. Radio had it's finest hour.......

I was in the last class in elementary school, 14 years old and it was probably Monday when we heard the news about Freddie's death. @@KowalskyLeon Seems strange to me that someone would be in primary school till they were 15... in the UK you start Primary School at 5 and High School when you are about 12 years old, and by the time you are 16 you can leave and get a job, or go to college or university, or stay on for another two years till you are 18/19 and then do the above.

He’s remembering & singing about his childhood: First verse: “I'd sit alone & watch your light My only friend thru teenage nights And everything I had to know I heard it on my radio…” Then fears MTV videos (huge at the time) will replace radio and the next generation will loose ‘something’ Last verse: “Let's hope you never leave, old friend Like all good things on you we depend So, stick around 'cause we might miss you When we grow tired of all this visual…” Brilliant. What a song.

First of all, NEVER be afraid or ashamed of crying, whatever your gender or whatever is. Music is about emotions, and Queen were masters of conveying those emotions. I have not found a single song by this legendary band that did NOT stir something deep in me, even their silliest ones like "Fat Bottomed Girls". Freddie Mercury was a genuine genius, there are a lot of "myths" and "legends" that will NEVER be confirmed nor negated about him (by deliberate choice), like the story of how he recorded "The show must go on" in one take, after his band mates asked him if he felt like it while literally on his death bed, answering "yeah let's do this", downing a shot of vodka and giving everything while suffering from multiple organ failure. That band changed the world (and themselves) several times, they STILL have a worldwide impact three decades later, everyone on, in and around this planet has at least heard a couple of lines of at least one of their songs without realizing it ... and their lyrics always have several layers of meaning, hitting deep "right in the feels". Honestly, ALL their songs are so good they hurt, most often in good ways, but some just tear your heart and soul into pieces. You really should listen to them all, because they are too beautiful to miss, but be braced, I'm a 50 yo male survivor of PTSD and numerous painful events, and I still cry listening to some songs like the first day I heard them. Stay strong, enjoy life, and enjoy music.

Roger Taylor was inspired to write this song by his son who was a toddler saying "radio caca" when he didn't like what he heard on the radio. Roger's common-law wife was French so their son spoke french. Caca means poo in french. If you listen carefully the first words of the chorus say "all we hear is radio caca". My favourite lines are "you made 'em laugh, you made 'em cry, you made us feel like we could fly." I love that you are so moved by Queen songs. Don't apologize for getting emotional. Buckle up for another of Roger's best songs , These Are the Days of Our Lives, also written for his children, but also a reminiscing of the life of the band and an emotional goodbye to the fans from Freddie.💔

I remember the day Freddie died. The day prior, a press release confirmed his illness but no one was surprised, his fans knew. However, the next day came as a shock to me; I had taken the announcement that his health was failing but not that he was, quite literally, on his deathbed. The press was so cruel, what an evil, horrible way to earn a living. For me, Freddie's death amplified the pain the world had been going through for several years. He wasn't the first celebrated person to die of AIDS and he wasn't the last, but he and Queen were special in my life so Freddie's suffering touched me greatly. The turmoil of those years are difficult to put into words. Lives were slipping through our fingers and there was nothing to stop it; the afflicted were blamed for their own demise. Awful. RIP, dear Freddie and every other soul who suffered and died.

Like you saw in LiveAid the crowd responded to Freddie and the guys. So many performers can get large crowds to interact, but there was always something special about Freddie and Queen's relationship with their fans. Freddie didn't sing "to" the audience, he performed "for" them, and they knew it and gave back the same love multiplied by thousands.

Listening to ‘Radio Ga Ga’ by Queen always takes me back to my childhood. The song is a beautiful tribute to the golden age of radio, and it resonates deeply with me. Every time I hear this song, it’s like looking into a mirror and seeing my younger self, filled with nostalgia and warmth. Thank you, Stacey, as always, for this unique reaction. Fun Fact: Lady Gaga favorite band is Queen and she created her name as a hommage to this song, as well as Queen. Also, this video is based upon the movie "Metropolis", a silent film from 1927. Every single movie that you've ever seen was inspired by this movie. It literally defined that approach to making movies throughout the 20th century. It's considered by many to be one the greatest films ever made. What is so timeless about that movie is, nearly more than 100 years later, it's only become more relevant.

For some reason I love how you are so emotional, and divine at the same time, and how you define your emotions. I was like that when I heard this song like 20 years ago when I was a kid. Now I`m 32. Queen is a wonderful band, maybe the best ever, for me the best ever. And there`s a lot for you to discover for Queen, a lot of songs. About the song , Roger wrote the song, his son was his inspiration. Lyrics are focused on Radio, how the radio was popular item in most houses, but now it`s not, but it will become popular again. But radio is just a metaphor. This song could be about everything, like the better times will come. So I view the song as an optimistic one. :)

That moment when you hit the chorus and realise via the live experience that Queen invoked interactive memes (no less!) years ahead of the internet, through their videos! A brilliant song and a great album, one of so many.. Whilst my own experience is no unusual it is the case that I've been following Queen since they captivated the 4 year old me with Bohemian Rhapsody. Having grown up with them it's always a joy to share in reactions, especially when it's alongside someone who discovers a similar level of joy. Those reflections of Freddie always come home when you see or hear anything of him.. that aspect is part of his legend and legacy, and he always seemed to just brush it off with a certain nonchalance - I think he'd be both amazed and even perhaps a little embarrassed at how his legacy continues. Worry not, you aren't going to run out of Queen to react to any time soon 🥰

Even the very best music we have today is not anywhere close to on this level. It is insane the level of talent that we lost when did Freddie Mercury died. The brilliance of just the note choices and the simple but percectly arranged chords and how it's all orchestrated together is just so above and beyond genius level.

Queen’s concert’s we’re definitely an experience. I saw them at age 17 in 1977 in Toronto at Maple leaf Gardens amazing!

The crowd always mimicked the video, I was lucky to see Queen at Knebworth and its an amazing thing to be part of. Freddie was the master showman. I can never be sure if the video is inspired by Metropolis or 1984, maybe a bit of both

You got it on live aid crowd following the video. They played along. Queen's genius is they DESIGNED their songs and videos for live participation.

When I was in Senior High, this song was one of the favs of a girl I had A HUGE crush on..,,sadly, .'someone still loves you' would never reflect her opinion of me,,,sigh...C'est La Vie!! On a brighter note, basket baby fluffmaster is 'viviendo la buena vida'!!! Reminds me of my long gone fur-friend Oopie.....alas, paw pals R 4EVER!!!

My first concert back in 1977 was Queen in Madison Square Garden. I've always loved Queen the band is GREAT! Freddie's voice cuts right through the heart and ones you feel his voice you never can forget how beautiful it is. Cry hon we all did and still do now and then. Great reaction Stacey. Cheers.

You got more out of this song and the video than a majority of other reacts that have that watched Live Aid and the video. Queen has been a solid part of my life for as long as I can remember, and this is the Freddie I chose to remember. Yes we lost a major talent too soon but his legend and legacy will live forever!

Plus Lady Gaga named herself from this song ! Good reaction. Also, it depicted World War 2, where the radio was so important, informing families of what was happening in the war.

Your tears are so beautiful and so pure! When you thank Freddie I can almost see him laughing, smiling, and saying "You're welcome, darling!". It's hard to hold back emotion listening to that record. The arrangement is all about good music trying to survive. The bright piano, the bass sounding fretless (I think it's not, but it sounds like it), and the slide guitar, all cover up that all-electronic sound of the intro, which symbolizes the direction pop music was taking. Things were getting artificial and somehow it was not all about music anymore.

I saw them on The Works tour in 1985 in Sydney Australia, as usual Freddy had the ~14K crowd eating out of the palms of his hand. When they got to this song, the whole crowd knew what was expected and we delivered.

STACEY, FYI… Just this week, Queen Official released a NEW official music video for one of their earlier songs: “WHEN THE NIGHT COMES DOWN” ….When you get into Freddie’s OPERATIC Barcelona album with Montserrat Caballé (nickname Montsey): That’s when you’re hit with what an extraordinary, wide-ranged, raw TALENT Freddie was… and how much was LOST …how much future music and creativity.😴

I watched your reaction to Queen at LiveAid, and Radio GaGa was a phenomenal performance from the band, Freddie had the crowd in the palm of hand, and Lady Gaga was a Queen fan this where her name originated,I have seen Queen live on many occasions in the late 70s -80s, they in my opinion were one of the greatest bands ever and Freddie the best frontman of a band ever, great reaction thanks 🙏

We all have times we get emotional watching Freddie. He always seemed larger than life. Having grown up with Queen his death hit me hard, the world was a better place with him in it. 👑

I agree with every word of yours. This is literally what I feel every time I see and hear Queen. So complicated, so sophisticated - and at the same time so clear and inspiring... 👏👏👏💓

I was 15 when Live Aid was aired and was lucky enough to watch the Queen broadcast. I love seeing someone your age truly appreciate this and have such an emotional reaction to a past some us can remember with fondness. Thank you

i think what makes this song so overwhelming is that there's an unspoken connotation of family, home. "someone still loves you" is not only a nostalgic look back at the times when radio was technically the state of the art for information and entertainment, and teenage years experience. it's also a reference to a radio being the center of a family gathering - with a special nod to the important role radio played for our parents and grandparents (in the 1980s) during war times.

Not only has it always been my favorite queen song, but the lyrics in the chorus mean the most of any song in the world to m e. "You had your time, you had the power, You've yet to have your finest hour" (Although he is talking about Radio becoming obsolete, It feels very much towards struggling to get noticed for everything I have done, but I wont give up, my time will come)

Never apologize for being true with your emotions when reacting, especially Freddie Mercury and Queen! I'm 54 and was 14 when this song came out! Queen was a favorite band of mine. Freddie was a treasure. My favorite band of all time is Duran Duran, and luckily for me, they are still together producing new albums and still touring. They're doing their 17th studio album that will drop next year !
