Queen was defined as "Glam rock". Popularized in the 70's. Had a very flamboyant fashion, and opera like singing style. It's the early form of the 80's "Hair metal". Originated in England. You should desperately react to "Bohemian rhapsody". It's a song everyone seems to know and love.

I'm ashamed to admit, that when I was growing up, Queen was in the height of their prominence as not only an incredible band but a very popular band but I was too immature too give their music a chance to appreciate. It was my lost at the time. Later in my life I took the time and patience to listen and enjoy their fabulous music. I'm glad I matured and have grown to learn to give everyone in life a chance. I'm also happy that I now understand what talent Queen has and to understand life is a never ending learning curve. Once I caught my breathe, I enjoyed this video and reaction very much. My Ms. Mia your beauty is breathtaking. Don't mind me Ms. Mia, I'm just an old man that has learned to appreciate the finer things in life.

As a band, and individual writers and musicians, there was no one like queen. Even today, their live aid performance is still the most watched thing on earth! And tho he was already sick with AIDS, he put on a performance, and had the crowd in his hands, like no one ever! So type in here, queen, live aid performance! Also they did an opera performance rock soundtrack, that was rejected by their label...so they left the label! Watch the movie here, Highlander! Its a masterpiece soundtrack, and to but the soundtrack by itself, look foe a cd or tape called Queen, its a kind of magic!

Love your reaction and your presence. Thank you for choosing the original release for your reaction. When evaluating an artist's song, the official release represents the truest form of what the artist intended the song to be. Having said that, some artists, especially Queen, are phenomenal in live performances and MUST be experienced. As others have commented, I would now love to see your reaction to their live performance of this song in Montreal. What type of rock is this? It's Queen. People have ALWAYS had trouble trying to "classify" Queen. Roger Taylor (Queen's drummer) once said, "We have never been in fashion, but we have always been popular." when explaining why they got so much flack from the music critics.

If you want to hear some fast Queen songs, check out "Stone Cold Crazy". Its considered to be a forerunner to Speed Metal. Also, "Dead On Time", Brighton Rock, and, "Modern Times Rock and Roll", and "Sheer Heart Attack". The latter 2 songs are sung by the Drummer, Roger Taylor.

Their music videos are okay. Most of them were made prior to "music videos" being an actual thing. Now, as for live performances, it doesn't get any better than that. If you would their "Live in Montreal 1981" is epic. I saw them on that tour in September 1980, you won't be disappointed.

Freddie Mercury, vocals ... Brian May, guitar ... John Deacon (who wrote "Another One Bites the Dust"), Bass guitar ... Roger Taylor, drums is the original Queen and who you reacted to. Each, a legend and together, iconic! The next Queen selection for you would be, "We Will Rock You" and "We Are the Champions" together. The video, "Queen - We Will Rock You and We Are The Champion (Live)" is pretty good. Since its release in 1977 the two songs have always been played together on the radio.

Queen lead singer Freddie Mercury was a Parsi Indian, born Farrokh Bulsara... he and the other members of Queen (guitarist Brian May, drummer Roger Taylor & bassist John Deacon) all graduated from college (Freddie got his degree in graphic arts & design) but he was more interested in playing music in the London scene (He was proficient in piano - Little Richard was his rockstar idol) and worked as a baggage handler at Heathrow airport... His early efforts were met w/ indifference... He became a fan of a local band called Smile (featuring Brian May and Roger Taylor) and offered to sing for the band when their singer/bassist quit. Eventually, John Deacon (bass) rounded out the band and Freddie renamed them Queen around 1971 and designed their logo based on the horoscope signs of each member. Freddie Mercury was flamboyant and people suspected that he was gay... but he surprised everyone by falling in love w/ Mary Austin, a woman who worked in a clothing boutique who helped dress him for his performances... they moved in together and got engaged for a while... But after Queen became famous and toured often, Freddie was sleeping around w/ men and finally admitted to her that he might be gay - being Indian and from a conservative family, his sexuality was not something he could share or discuss. Despite their breakup, Freddie Mercury and Mary Austin remained close friends until his death in 1991. Queen were not a band that wanted to have a label on their music ... They started out as a rock band that specialized in layered vocal harmonies and grand sounding music ...'Bohemian rhapsody' became their first #1 hit single in 1975 and made Queen superstars overnight. Freddie wrote the song and called it a 'mock opera'... Queen would write hard rock songs like - 'Stone cold crazy' ... 'Hammer to fall'... 'Tie your mother down'... Their anthemic tracks - 'We will rock you' & 'We are the champions'... are still played in sporting events worldwide. They also had playful tunes like - 'Killer queen' ... "You're my best friend"... 'Bicycle race'... They would incorporate Elvis in a song like 'Crazy little thing called love' ... Little Richard was a huge influence on the song "Don't stop me now"... The song 'Love of my life' was a tender ballad... Bassist John Deacon wrote a Queen disco song 'Another one bites the dust' (a #1 hit in 1980) and the band wrote the funk song 'Under pressure'... co-written w/ singer David Bowie. In the 80's, Queen wrote quite a few pop songs like - 'Radio Gaga' ... 'I want to break free' ... 'A kind of magic'... So, it's impossible to categorize Queen's 'genre of rock'... Queen are legends because they could play any kind of music that they fancied... even opera... jazz ... blues ... 50's rock n' roll ... pop... funk... etc. After Freddie was diagnosed w/ AIDS in 1987, Queen were unable to tour again but worked on new music and released albums ('The Miracle' in 1989 and 'Innuendo' in 1991) before Freddie Mercury passed away in late '91... his friend Mary Austin was by his side when he died. Queen's last album was 'Made in Heaven' in 1995 - the band completed songs that Freddie Mercury had recorded before his death... the single 'Mother love' was a touching song, but guitarist Brian May had to sing the last verse because Freddie had not finished the track.

This one is my favorite. It just classic rock. Not rock n roll. It's called a Ballad. Fred Mercury was before my time and I'm 30. So yea his singing is timeless. This one is beautiful cuz it makes you go "awwwe" from beginning to end. And the song premise is self explanatory. It's just man singing his heart out to anyone who will listen. It's so good. Hard to beat. This band has alot of hits. Killer queen Bohemian rhapsody Another one bites the dust

What I love about Queen is their experimentation of different musical genres (like The Beatles before them). They did a Jazz Blues song called "Sleeping on the Sidewalk" sung by Brian May. Dr. May (he now has a Ph.D in Astrophysics), also did an acoustic folk ballad called "'39". What is interesting about that particular song is that the listener assumes its about life in 1839, but in fact, its story takes place in the future like 2039 or 2139 and involves space travel. Another genre Queen tackled was folk country music in "Bring Back That Leroy Brown" where May uses a Banjo, and Deacon an upright Double Bass, and Mercury on a Jangle Piano. May also played a Ukulele in "Good Company". And then there is Queen's Disco-funk song, "Another One Bites the Dust." So many styles of music to choose from! BTW speaking of gospel rock, Queen did another song in that genre called "Jesus" from their debut album. Though I much prefer their classic Rock tunes like "Keep Yourself Alive", "Liar," "Great King Rat," "Fairy King", "Tenement Funster, and "Tie Your Mother Down".

If you really like piano, check out Lola Astanova's piano cover of Queen's "We Are the Champions". kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJeXiJyNaLicoNk She makes her piano sing as good as Freddie Mercury's voice. BTW another good piano tune is "Tryin' To Keep Her 88's Straight" by Downchild Blues Band pianist, Jane Vasey (1949 - 1982). Not the greatest singer, but she can definitely rock the piano! But getting back to Queen, one of my favorite piano tunes of theirs is "Lily of the Valley", and "Seaside Rendezvous". On Queen's debut album is a song called "Doing Alright" but the piano is played by Guitarist Brian May who wrote the song. Also from their debut Album is a little known song of theirs called "The Night Comes Down" which recently hit the Singles Chart in the U.K this past month, 50 years after it was recorded. Bassist John Deacon wrote the song. "You're My Best Friend" where he plays the electric piano on the song, while Mercury sings it. Deacon wrote the song for his wife, Veronica. Queen's 1973 debut album is one of my favorite debut albums of all time, next to Boston's 1976 debut album.
