LoloYodel 2 camera-angle remix (with special thanks to the two angles of Lazy Cow !).
The 1st of the legendary two night stand at Hampton under the disguise as "The Warlocks". This 1st set is sound, straight forward, almost excellent but arguably not exceptional. The Foolish Heart, which opens, is thorough and heart felt but the next 3-4 songs seem to have difficulty getting off the ground (or into rythym) with notably a Candyman which, despite the "get me my 'ol guitar" (as Jerry had pulled out his old "Wolf" from the closet since the days of 1977-1979), lacks the full magic due to fumbled lyrics, technical problems ... Nonetheless, Bird Song is open and aerial and Promised Land brings a promising rockin' finish to this 1st set. Yes, Big River has some stomp, Stagger Lee shines and Queen Jane is dynamically and entertainingly sustained by good 'ol Bobby Weir.
Set 1:
Foolish Heart
Walkin' Blues
Candyman
Me And My Uncle ~
Big River
Stagger Lee
Queen Jane Approximately
Bird Song
Promised Land
Set 2:
Help On The Way ~
Slipknot! ~
Franklin's Tower
Victim Or The Crime
Eyes Of The World ~
drums
space ~
I Need A Miracle ~
The Wheel ~
Gimme Some Lovin' ~
Morning Dew
encore: And We Bid You Goodnight

Same here. Brings tears of remeniscence (?) and God I miss those days such a part of me. No one outside understands… I’m doing this fall tour east coast. It’s my life. I love what I love and I want it that way. And sometimes we live no particular way but our own. Right? Interestingly I’m living a healthy lifestyle these days. Whole Foods mostly vegan…CBD…kratom. Exercise and fitness. Meditation. Bobby has been such an inspiration and role model. Ok enough out of me for a simple comment lol. This is me during my Saturday morning coffee and me time haha

in those days when life was so much more when we were free and young and we traveled from shore to shore east to west and back again and the constant the heartbeat the life energy spilled wherever they played . didn't matter how many shows you saw you wished it had been more . the world changed when Jerry passed , the colors of life slowly faded to a paler shade . but don't be sad for That be thankful to have been blessed to have lived in a time when we were able to know that space that joy that peace of spirit and soul.. those less fortunate find some of the force but unless you were emerced and bathed within it you can't have it well up inside of you so full and real 30 years later. peace be the journey , be kind and pass it on along wherever your path may lead

No one does Dylan like the Dead. And I particularly love songs where Weir sings lead and Garcia sings the high and lonesome harmony during the chorus and noodles on the guitar during the verses

It's easy to see, without looking too far, that much is really sacred. But this song, in the hands of the Grateful Dead, is just that! The tune here is performed like they are kindred spirits of Sir Bob Dylan.

Intro and outro chords, also chorus: D - Em11/A - D - D (the Em11/A chord is all strings of the guitar open! - also you can play an A and E on the 6th and 5th strings) - sets up the harmony beautifully - OK to jam in B minor pentatonic (B Aeolian)! OK!

Bill Graham handed me a ticket close to showtime; girl I was w/ took it outta my hand on the pretense of looking at it - then ran off into the show. I had even gone & helped her when her van broke down on Chesapeake Bay Bridge. She then locked our van door. Bill came back later yelling at me 'cuz he thought I had sold it. I said, no she took it outta my hand on the pretense of looking at it & ran in the show...:/. He said, "That ticket was for YOU!!! ". He was so pissed. I was so sad. I asked if he had another. He said No, and walked off all pissed. So, I sat by the fountain on nice boomers, locked out of van after she locked it, not wanting her stuff to get stolen - ironic, huh? Then, she enjoyed the show, and came out bragging about the sick setlist. Dang girls trifling w/ my shit. It's like a theme!! (~};D. Got in next night.

Welcome. That’s called Wolf, the first guitar Doug Irwin luthiered for Jerry. Used onstage and in studio 73-74, & 78, and then retired until these shows in ‘89, IIRC. So, busting that thing out again was a ‘big deal’ in the scene at the time, and another symbolic throwback to their history, like the billed band name; at least for these 2 shows, this wasnt the ‘Grateful Dead’, but rather “The Warlocks”: some parallel universe, alternate version of the Dead.
