In this video I react to the famous rock band Queen and their legendary 20 minute set at Live Aid in 1985 with an audience of 75,000 and 1.9 billion viewers globally. It is arguably the greatest live performance of all time and will go down in music history as an iconic moment.

Hey everyone, Queen has by far become my favorite band ever and it would be my dream to see them live while it’s still possible. Unfortunately i don’t have the money to be able to do it. If any of you could help me that would mean the world to me, even just $1 could make the difference between me being able to go or not. If you want to help you can donate through my paypal link in the description or with the “Thanks” button to the right of the Like button. Of course if you can’t that’s totally okay, and i completely understand :)

He wasn’t just a Legend in the music industry. He actually had a newly discovered frog named after him. The experts heard the sound the frog was making and it was very melodic. Apparently one of these people was a Queen fan and when the frog was singing he realized that they were near where Freddie was born and he had the thought, “I’ll bet that Freddie would have heard that!” BAM! The Freddie Mercury frog was born! I could never spelling the exact wording but Freddie’s name is clearly visible in this frog’s new name! 😮❤❤❤❤

Freddie Mercury had the best response to a woman he met at a party who'd never heard of QUEEN, so she asked him which instrument did he play, to which Freddie replied with...'The audience!' THAT was Freddie Mercury!

You started with the best live rock concert in rock history. Queen took this very seriously and rehearsed for a full week. Most of the bands went out there and winged it and it shows. Queen always performs like pro’s because that is who they are. Everyone one of them wrote number one songs, everyone of them has an advanced degree. Of course Brian has his PhD and was recently knighted by King Charles. The talent on that stage is insane. Rogers voice is awesome as well and he could be the front man of any band, but Queen had Freddie.

What you don't realise is that this concert was carried by nearly every country on earth with an estimated one third of the entire planet's population watching including me. I was lucky to see Queen live in their 'News of the World' tour. Magical! Every member of Queen has a top 20 hit with one of their compositions. ' We will rock you' the musical written by Ben Elton is well worth seeing

Perfectly timed to fit their allotted time, each performance was given the same amount of time and if they didn't finish the song before the red light came on the producers cut them off. If you notice the lights on the edge of the stage as he finishes the last lines of we are the Champions the light changes from yellow to red. After Queen was finished they cut to the United States and when that performance ended they'd cut back to Wembley insuring every moment possible was a performance without interruption quite a feat to pull off at that time. I watched all 16 hours of Live Aid and thanks to KZbin you just watched the best 21 minutes of it 👑 Queen stole the show!

If you want to see something amazing search for Green Day Bohemian Rhapsody. Everyone was at a Green Day concert & while the band was setting up they just had music playing on the speaker. When Bohemian Rhapsody came on the whole audience sang along. It wasn’t even a Queen concert . Freddie was once asked what his favourite instrument to play is. His response was the audience Dahlin.

Just to add to your comment Very few (if any) put in the rehearsal time and performance logistics planning that Queen did. Professionalism was off the charts. There were those very famous bands that just rocked up and winged it. The difference between Queen and most other performers that day was the respect Queen gave their audience by being prepared and ready to give their absolute best. I never tire of watching this . Deservedly cited as best live rock performance of all time (imho any performance!)

Thank you for this reaction I've watched this over a hundred times and it never gets old! By the way Freddie had a throat infection and was advised by doctors not to go on but decided to go ahead because they had made the commitment to perform. Most of the acts that day sang a few songs because of the time limit but Queen decided to do a small concert. To make the best use of the time allotted to them they rented an empty theatre and practiced day after day to make sure they had everything down perfectly and to the minute. This is a masterclass in performing and I'm glad Freddie had his day in the sun. It has been generally accepted by everyone there that day that Queen stole the show and was the best.

Thank you for reacting to this iconic performance by this iconic band. If you want to see a huge Queen crowd check out Rock In Rio, Roger said that there were about 300,000 people at each show. So many live Queen performances I could recommend. Flick Of The Wrist, Ogre Battle, Stone Cold Crazy, all live from The Rainbow '74. Somebody To Love, Save Me, live from Montreal '81, White Queen live from Hammersmith Odeon '75. Fat Bottom Girls live from Milton Keynes '82. You Take My Breath Away live at Hyde Park '76. One Vision/Tie Your Mother Down, Another One Bites The Dust and Who Wants To Live Forever all live at Wembley '86. This is only a fraction of Queens amazing live performances. I recommend getting some decent headphones before checking out the studio tracks as Queen did like to play with effects like panning from ear to ear and layering etc and you miss out on so much without them.

Singing louder and more forcefully is part of doing a live, open air performance. In the studio you can always do a retake if there isn't enough volume in your voice, you don't have that option singing live. They had to do abbreviated versions of Bo Rhrap and We Will Rock You because each set was only 20 minutes long and they wanted to include as many fan favorites as possible. Keep in mind, this wasn't a "Queen audience". They were late signing on to the concert so their name was not included on the advance advertising. When they came out on stage the crowd wasn't expecting them to be there for the concert.

We Are the Champions was expressly written by Freddie with the idea of bringing people together, and the future King of Wembley Stadium understood sporting crowds. I got to see Queen live in 1978 in St Louis MO on the Jazz tour. Being near the city, I was lucky to see just about everyone I ever wanted to. No concert ever compared to Queen. You have no idea how much it touches my heart to see young people like you discovering Queen & Freddie. I just recently found these kind of videos and have been watching a ton of them. I can see in your face how their music is touching your heart. Have not read through all of the comments, just going to say that his doctor told Freddie not to perform at Live Aid. He was nursing some nodules on his vocal chords. Over a billion people were watching Live Aid broadcasting from the UK and US back and forth. Everyone had 20 minutes. Queen practiced for 2 weeks and it showed. Everyone was saying "they stole the show" and they did. Freddie was the GOAT. Hand's down. Welcome to my world of rock, Trevor. Regular tickets cost £25, press paid £100. Internet could probably translate that to current money. Btw other artist among many were David Bowie and Elton John, both wondered how on earth they were going to be able to match Queen's set. My favourite expression is that for one day in 1985 a different Queen ruled England!

@@sdavis5001areed. I think Montreal 1981 is the best version. The live performance is a lot meatier and the crescendo at the end.....🤩

You are right about couldn't happen today, as you say, they wouldn't clap due to mobile phones. You can't see the stage for held up mobile phones now, proving you were there is now more important than enjoying the moment. Also few young people seem to like live music. Very many of then prefer to see it on screen to experiencing it, they will literally turn down a free concert by a major artists a short walk away to watch it onscreen.

He had a bad sore throat and was told by his doctor not to hon and sing. He said the show must go on. He was great! His bending over and showing his rear to the crowd was aimed at a prior manager who said he would never go anywhere. The microphone on the stand became his schtick after one broke during one of his first concerts. He went on to always use it

Actually Radio Gaga was a huge hit for them , It reached number one in many countries on the Charts , and stayed number 16 in the top 100 in America, only outdone by Another one bites the dust in America , and Love of My Life . Crazy Little thing Called Love , and Oddly Bohemian Rhapsody was 9 on the billboard top 100 in 1976 ...but after the release of The Mike Myers film (Waynes World) which featured an Iconic moment of head banging to the Rhapsody in a car. It reached number 2 in the United states afterward , renewing a huge interest in the band again in America. They were to Rock-Pop Music , what Mozart was to classical. They earned every Damn letter in the words MUSICAL GENIUS! By the way Lady GaGa took her name from that song because she was a Huge fan. Country Singer Garth Brooks has stated that he entered the music field because of them. Rapper M.C. Hammer was a huge fan , and Michael Jackson and Freddie recorded a song together . Michael adored Freddie. Also Nuno Bettencourt and Gery Cherone of the band EXTREME were close friends and always state that they were so inspired and directed many times by the members of Queen. Theres no counting the countless artists that Queen has inspired over the years.

Glad to see the younger generation is not forgetting the bands of the 70s snd 80s. So many great artist. We did not have cell phones per day back then. We had car phones that were huge, and made larger with the antenna on them. But there was no video component to those phones either. I remember watching this on TV. There were multiple stadiums filled to capacity with fans. I also remember after each performance, they would go back to the live aid headquarters to see what the update was on money raised. After queen performance, it went up substantially. As someone else said 1/4 of the world watched this performance. It is the greatest performance of all time.

As a D&D player, the best way I’ve found to describe Freddie is that he maxed charisma and then had a TON of stuff left over. The dude is an endless well of talent. Just… just one of the best voices to ever grace our ears!!!
