Radio Gaga was a tribute to how radio will always be an important part of musical history...MTV was just starting to become big & they wanted to have a song tell about the importance of radio even though video was taking over. Listen to the words, they are brilliant.

The Queen's Live Aid program was as follows: !. Bohemian Rhapsody (written by Freddie Mercury) 2 Radio Ga Ga (written by Roger Taylor ) 3. Freddie's call and response with the audience (something he did at most concerts). Excerpts of this particular call and response were included the Opening Ceremony for the 1992 Olympic Games held in London. 4. Hammer to Fall (written by Brian May) 5. Crazy Little Thing Called Love (written by Freddie Mercury while taking a bath - took about 10 minutes). 6 We Will Rock You (written by Brian May) 7. We Are The Champions (written by Freddie Mercury) *** 8. In the finale, Brian and Freddie performed a song called "Is This The World We Created?" written jointly by Freddie and Brian. This is the one and only song they composed together alone. They didn't include any song written by John Deacon in this set, though he wrote hits like Another One Bites The Dust, You're My Best Friend, I Want To Break Free, Spread Your Wings ... Queen is the only group where each member of the group has composed a hit single.

Of course it was voted thee 'best' (of the best). That Live Aid audience, one by one and collectively surely felt Queen came to give them a great performance and a memorable time. As Freddie was known to be a fantastic host to guests in his home, so he (Queen) were to those who came to see them perform. The stage was clean and neat, crew stayed in the background...but made sure those four had what they needed when they required it and what about the music?? Those four sound like a band of .....15 or more and start and end on cue. Too fabulous. I'll be back to visit your reaction many times cause your body language and words warm my heart, confirm my assessment of Iconic Queen and now . . . the Legend Freddie Mercury. Thank you.

Hammer to fall was the third song you were asking about that Queen performed. It was from their album The Works and I'm pretty sure Brian May wrote it. You can tell because it's heavier than some of the other songs and there's so much guitar. The words to this song have a lot of meaning if people actually look at the lyrics Because back in the 80s we were all under threat of any kind of nuclear attack. This was my favorite song they performed during Live Aid because of the musicianship even though it's not my top 10 favorite song the band ever performed.

Radio GaGa was written by the drummer, Roger Taylor. One of his children said “radio gaga” one day & the song came from that. Lady GaGa loved this song (and Queen) & took her name from it! And I disagree with the comment that said it was about “radio sucks”...just listen to the words. Freddie wrote Crazy Little Thing Called Love in his bathtub - it’s his tribute to Elvis. You’d never know from his performance that day that his doctor had advised him not to do this concert as he had a throat infection.

The song list is Bohemian Rhapsody Radio Gaga Call and Response With Audience Hammer To Fall Crazy Little Thing Called Love We Will Rock You We Are The Champions What you may not know is that this was not a Queen audience, they had come to see all the various popular bands of the day. Queen came on stage after six and a half hours into the program, people were getting a little restless because some of the acts were a little (how shall I put this) crap. Queen were not on the ticket so when they were announced the stadium went crazy, they electrified the crowd as you can see and the rest is history.

Good reaction. The 3rd song you referred to is Hammer To Fall, you should check out the studio version, or a different live performance, the song is usually a bit slower and more heavier. It is a great song, about death coming for everyone and about the Cold War. Another great live version of the song is at Wembley 1986 kzbin.info/www/bejne/opy9eKmafq50bM0. Freddie was a decent guitar player, (obviously nowhere as good as Brian but he could hold his own). Crazy Little Thing Called Love, was written by Freddie on the guitar in 10 minutes, it was a tribute to Elvis, that is probably why it sounds so familiar. Another song Freddie wrote on the guitar is Ogre Battle, you should really check it out, it is one of the first thrash metal songs. Ogre Battle live at the Hammersmith Odeon 1975 kzbin.info/www/bejne/a2aUmIV-aMl6e6c. Radio Gaga is basically Radio Shit. It is the idea that radio had already had it's finest hour, radio is finished and video is taking over. MTV was taking over in those times, and radio became less important. The song conveys the message that radio is still important. Lady Gaga got her name from this song.

@@allreactions3281 He wrote it in his hotel room in the bath. He got the idea and quickly called a roadie to bring him a guitar, and he finished the song in 10 minutes. After that he went directly to the studio to record the song. He famously joked that he knew only 3 cords on the guitar, but the song actually does have 8 different cords. Apparently he even recorded the guitar solo of the song originally. Brian May arrived afterwards and overdubbed his guitar solo over it. Many people are completely convinced that this is an Elvis song. Elvis impersonators often covers the song. But Elvis died in 1977 and Freddie wrote the song in 1979. Of course Elvis never wrote any songs.

**Zenobia** Brian May has stated that Freddie was an excellent guitar player, he just joked that he wasn’t. He wrote “Ogre Battle” entirely on the guitar, as well as some of Brian’s solos in other Freddie songs,
@ZENOBlAmusic

@@heyjude1920 Yes, that is what I was trying to convey. Freddie was a far better guitarist then what he usually get credit for. Some of his early song were also written with a lot of guitar. Freddie was just very humble about his guitar playing and his piano playing, he always underrated his own skills.

The drummer & singer, Roger Taylor, wrote this song. Radio Gaga came into Rogers line when he was at home one day and his young son Felix who was only about 2-3 years old said " ahh Radio Caca!". Rogers first wife Dominique and their two children are French so CACA means SHIT in French. 😂😂 the idea came about and Rodger wrote the song about a lot of the music on the radio being crap, and video taking over music from the way it had been in earlier decades. I thought 80s music was one of the best and the radio now is pretty much crap and I don't listen to it much.
