John Deacon was so upset by Freddie’s death. He only stayed for one more album: Made in Heaven. After that, Brian May wrote this. It was the last song that John Deacon ever recorded with Queen. Shortly afterwards, John left the band. Believing that Freddie was what made the band what it was and without him: Queen is nothing. And that is just heart wrenching

Brian, Roger, John - I don't know if any of you ever read these comments but if any of you are having a bad day, remember this: Queen's creative and musical synergy was indeed a kind of magic. "The party must be over" veut dire qu'ils sont encore sous le choc de la mort de Freddie. C'est le même effet quand vous perdez un proche, vous n'y croyez pas. Puis la fin du couplet est magnifique, même s'il n'est plus là physiquement, il l'est toujours dans leurs pensées.

Now I understand why John did not want to continue ... In its place I would not have done it either ... see them play without Freddie, with that emptiness that destroys you inside, let's try to live something like that, the Queen ended up with Freddie's death and nobody can ever replace him or reform the band...

honestly, i understand that, but i still like that brian and roger continue to perform. of course theres no replacing freddie... no one could ever stand in his place. but the fact that queen's legacy still lives on,,, i mean, i dont think freddie would have wanted them to just quit playing because of his death. he would've wanted them to live their lives, carry on, and uphold his memory. i think they're doing a pretty darn good job of it. after the loss of freddie, they were strong, they couldnt just say "yeah queen is over guys time to go home", even if that was what they wanted to do (and im sure it was).

Even though there are new medicines, it's sad that we still have aids, cancer, heart disease, and now we have new viruses. Lyrics: A hand above the water An angel reaching for the sky Is it raining in Heaven - Do you want us to cry? And everywhere the broken-hearted On every lonely avenue No-one could reach them No-one but you One by one Only the Good die young They're only flyin' too close to the sun And life goes on - Without you... Another Tricky Situation I get to drownin' in the Blues And I find myself thinkin' Well - what would you do? Yea! - it was such an operation Forever paying every due Hell, you made a sensation You found a way through - and One by one Only the Good die young They're only flyin' too close to the sun We'll remember - Forever... And now the party must be over I guess we'll never understand The sense of your leaving Was it the way it was planned? And so we grace another table And raise our glasses one more time There's a face at the window And I ain't never, never sayin' goodbye... One by one Only the Good die young They're only flyin' too close to the sun Cryin' for nothing Cryin' for no-one No-one but you

It was a reason leading to suicidal thoughts. His love life (as in Too Much Love Will Kill You), his father's death, followed by Freddie's, and years of Rock N Roll lifestyle, the last of which everyone had their tolls of by that time, but it was just to Brian that many things happened all at once at the moment. Glad he managed to pull himself together.

Agree. Because they felt so close to each other, Queen is so enormous, even today. When Freddie passed ,also Mary went through hard times. They all did. I also think Bri and Rog are still very close to John, even they don't admit It. It's the way to protect the shy John. They did the same with Freddie's disease : a couple of months after his death, Bri and Rog said they knew about his illness only 6 months before. But in the movie Freddie tells them the situation several years before his passing. And everybody kept the secret to protect him. So, I think they are currently protecting John's privacy, but he must be much more closer than what they admit.😉

This had to have been a very hard song to put together. It says it all. They were all very raw at the time. They all went thru a very serious depression. But, fate was to intervene. Brian and Roger are able to still play the queen songs for all of us to see. And so many years later, the queen songs are still very popular today. They made great music. It is something special. I think that we did not get to see all that they had in themselves to give us. But, we are grateful we have the music we have. They were 4 very talented men, they gave us all.

@@bluesilverdurandurantribut8800 Actually, you're quite wrong. They fought a lot in the studio as they had strong opposing personalities (mostly Freddie, Brian, and Roger) but they were certainly friends. ESPECIALLY after Freddie became sick. Watch the "These are the Days Of Our Lives" documentary. Brian and Roger narrate how close the four became after '87 when Freddie's situation became worse. Just look at John. The reason he retired was he was too affected by Freddie's death. There are even recent interviews where they speak of how much they miss him and how they regret he's not here still. There are literally tons of other examples. You don't conquer the world together and not love each other.

I know Brian May wrote this song for Freddie but at the moment I feel he wrote it just for me. I found my husband of 42 years had passed away sitting in his armchair only 8 weeks ago. We both loved queen he saw them in 1979 in Hammersmith. We both saw them at live aid in 1985. I must play this song 50 times a day. Thank you Brian May for this beautiful song. Thank you Freddie for your beautiful songs also. It's just keeping me carrying on at the moment. I love you all Queen after my wonderful husband Chris. It's so true only the good die young and I never got to say goodbye I miss him so much 💔 ❤❤❤❤❤
