I was at this concert with John’s sister and his Mum. We were sitting in the balcony and it was actually moving up and down!

I love 70's Queen!! To be honest, I love every era of Queen, but there is a hunger in their early performances that evolved into polished perfection in the later years. Looking back now, Freddie almost appears caged on the smaller stage because we know what he's fully capable of. Don't even get me started on the fashion... Love the energy and intensity from all four fantastic musicians.

Great choice! Don't they sound just so GOOD!!! I generally prefer Queen studio versions, because of the intricate harmonic overlays in many songs, but this live performance just rocks on a galactic level! And, can I just point out how pitch-perfect Freddie sings?

I love early Queen, but then I'm 59. I grew up with this stuff. I think his voice is so incredibly powerful at this particular concert.

I enjoy the other singers you have but Queen blows me away because they are all four Geniuses at play. The content, the genre, the singing, the production the writing, the instruments, all from the writing to the production.

Freddie at Wembley had a fucking cold. Sorry for the word, but that's how it is. And even so, he did two concerts in a row on June 11 and 12, on top of it it rained and Freddie got dripping; imagine the scene: cold, fever, pills, 2 days in a row and one of them raining. Queen hold this? Just our Freddie.

I think this is the same concert where he sang white queen. Pretty amazing to have this hard rock and also that gorgeous ballot in the same concert. Freddie really was a man for all seasons. Check out that reference. His voice definitely changed over time, partially because of the notes that grow in his vocal cords and then he started smoking, among other things. It doesn’t matter to me what stage of his career he was in or whether his voice was in a higher register or more green register, the bottom line is he really was a rock god.

Part of the voice difference is he was smoking later in life and his doctor didn't want him to perform at Live Aid as he recovering from throat infection at the time.

I've been watching your great reactions for two years and I watch all playlists but Queen is by far my favorite. I watch Queen playlist everyday. I love your reactions and feel you must be happy family man.it drives me crazy not knowing more about you. I'm 78years old but my brain is still 18, ha if you would check out NEIL DIAMOND..he started singing in 1966and has videos from young to when he is in videos close to my age. One song is Sweet Caroline, Morningside and has a beautiful band. You probably won't see my comment, but I know NEIL DIAMOND was very famous in America and Australia.

Oh please please check out this performance. Hammersmith again, but 79. This is my favorite. Freddie is so playful with the audience, he even hands off his mic to someone in the audience & gets it back just in time for the next verse like a boss. Also has a great call & response with the crowd. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ppzOd36Loqt9bZI Wembley actually wasn’t one of Freddie’s best vocal performances as he had a cold. Of course it never matters though. I think the venue matters too. This only has a 4000ish seating . Plus it’s indoors as well.

That was the televised Christmas Eve show he did for the BBC just shortly after Bohemian Rhapsody went crazy on the charts. This was their opening song. Personally I like the 1986 Wembley one better. It was faster paced. Freddie had more of a growl at Wembley. Freddie was able to do more high notes live early on before the constant nodules keep invading his throat. It was a chronic problem way before he got ill. He mostly saved the high pitched stuff for the studio. BTW- this is the same performance where he did the fantastic White Queen song.

Early queen! They are full of raw power and enthusiasm. This is the night at the opera tour ''Bohemian Rhapsody'' was rocketing the charts. There is a great difference between 1975 and 85 fred but hey, I love both of them greatly. About his voice change, there were two factors, Age and smoking He started smoking in 1980 which darkened his voice greatly His range was intact but his voice was a lot rough and powerful rather than clean and crystal like. You should definitely react to the Hammersmith 1979 version of this song, it is phenomenal Link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ppzOd36Loqt9bZI

Hey HAP.. They also did a version of this song in the Rainbow concert in 1974 too. So you have several options to choose from. I got a good one for you if you want to check out. Its called WHITE MAN written by BRIAN MAY. Its off of the A DAY AT THE RACES album back in 1976. Watch the original lyric video so you can see what FREDDIE is singing. They did another show at the Hammersmith in 1979. Great reaction HAP. Love ya. Take care. Your girl QUEEN BEE.

All the things you noticed were the things I was struck by: Freddie's higher voice, his totally different appearance from later years, your favourite part being when he sings "now I'm here" and how great Roger's drumming is. Your observations always enhance my enjoyment of Queen's songs. Bravo!!! If you do a whole Queen concert, I would strongly recommend Queen in Montreal 1981 - the quality of filming and Queen's brilliant performance of every song make watching it an electric experience. 🤩

Barbara Ladouceur it’s funny you should mention Montreal because Queen thought the opposite. Poor lighting and filming. This is Brian and Roger talking about the concert. kzbin.info/aero/PLabsZG0_wTqzlW5K8LFpeAmbqWtwfOu32

This was the opening number of Queen's live on BBC Christmas Eve performance. It also had White Queen which you reacted to as well as In the Lap of the Gods followed by the balloon and 'doll' drop which I'm certain you recall. :) I would love for you to react to the entire encore performance one of these days which was amazing. Not sure BBC was really aware of what they were getting when they invited Queen to perform live. Here's the entire concert which is the only way to view the entire encore (if you view just the chopped segments of each encore song you don't get the full impact of the performance and miss the crowd response). That part picks up around 53:30. The crowd was really into the performance which means that Queen gave back everything the crowd was giving to them. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpDFqHt_nNuKedU

That whole concert is so great. Another Brian song made better by Freddie’s voice and enthusiasm. Love the line “You made me live again” which refers to how sick he got during their tour in America supporting Mott the Hoople which they had to cut short because he developed a severe case of hepatitis. This latest health battle is not his first time surmounting health challenges.

As a Queen fan for over forty five years the 1970's Queen is the golden era, saw them a few times in the 70's and the shows had more cutting edge to them, the 80's show where more polished but for me had lost something.

You know, if you want the best live version of this song, try the 1982 one from The Bowl (Milton Keynes). The concert where you liked Somebody To Love better than Montreal. Freddie is on fire (for that entire concert) on this song, and as a bonus, he twerks. Really. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jWW5gYyInZKMZ8k
