This is the WEMBLEY version of Now I`m Here, sung by Queen. Let`s just say, OLD HABITS DIE HARD. Think of Fat Bottom Girls and my commentary in Sheer Heart Attack, this performance is a combo between the two. Please keep in mind, all reactions are done out of my own free time and in the spirit of hearing good music. With that said I want to thank Lynn for this suggestion/recommendation. Hope you guys enjoy.

The colours of their clothes all connect. Yellow, white, black, blue etc. Method to their madness at that point. At many times they did wear whatever they wanted. Freddie's black leathers beside John's knitted sweater vest. Love it ;)

Taken from songfacts: This song was written by Brian. It is about the good and bad times of extensive touring, which the band did during their first few years. Their success did not come overnight - success in America particularly was laid by many years of touring there in the 1970s, and battling against the common "east coast" style rock of the Eagles and Steely Dan. In 1974 Queen supported the band Mott the Hoople in America. This tour provided the inspiration for this song, which contains the lyrics "Down in the city, just Hoople and me." Queen had a great time on tour with Mott the Hoople, but unfortunately Brian May fell ill near the end of the tour with severe hepatitis and spent many of the sessions for Sheer Heart Attack recovering in hospital. He since admitted that he was nervous that the band would find a replacement, and he was determined to keep working to stop that from happening. As it turned out, the band never even considered replacing May, and even left space in the songs they were already working on for him to add his parts when he was healthy enough. Even so, "Now I'm Here" is one of May's first songs that he wrote for the album once coming back to health, and the loud and strutting nature of the song suggests the tone of a man re-energised and ready to play again.

That was the first time I saw Queen live, in Memphis 4/20/74 as Mott’s warm up band. A friend of mine knew what hotel Mott was staying in so I went down hoping to meet them. Instead, I found myself face to face on a balcony with Freddie. He invited me in to their suite, and I knew who they were and already liked them but I was 17 and, well, declined the invite. Now I just feel honored that for a few minutes I was eye to eye with him and breathing the same air as him.

I am constantly amazed at how much passion and energy goes into these live performances. And this is only a few minutes out of the entire concert! Freddie rarely stays still even during instrumental sections, which is only one of many reasons it's hard to take your eyes off of him. Can't even imagine how many calories Roger burned off each night. Such talent from all four. They never short changed the audience.

Wembley was filmed over 2 nights with 15 cameras. They even had a second set of speakers in the middle of the arena so that Freddie’s vocals matched the visuals on the big screen TV for the back of the crowd. There’s a full concert version on KZbin, but it mixes together the 2 nights. The DVD set has each separately with the clothing changes as the evening progressed. It rained on the first night, and Freddie’s voice had a few cracks on the second night. Both are wonderful, nonetheless. You can even search for the songs on KZbin of this song from the Roger Taylor camera or Under Pressure from the John Deacon camera. It’s pretty cool to see the difference! Roger has stated that this song was his most exhausting!

That was Spike on the piano. He went with them on the 1986 Magic Tour- which was Freddie’s last live tour. They played to only stadiums, which others thought was crazy, but Queen sold out at all of them across Europe and tickets sold so fast back home at Wembley they did 2 nights. Tickets still sold out fast so they booked another at Knebworth which also sold out. They use to match with clothing, but on this tour it was whatever- it was post their triumph at Live Aid and they were at the top once again!! I knew you would love the drums and guitar in this one- plus Freddie’s forceful vocals. He always ran from one side of the stage to the other a couple times during the night so the fans on the sides wouldn’t feel left out.

Spike Edney was on keys on this performance. He playes with Queen since 1984. He was on the keys, rythim guitar, piano, vocoder and backing vocals. And since 1984 he's there at almost every Queen related show/performance. He was there on the full Works and Magic tour, he was there on Live Aid, helped with the Kind of Magic album in the studio, toured with Brian's (The Brian May Band) and Roger's solo band (The Cross) too, he was there on the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert, toured with Paul Rodgers and still tours with Adam Lambert and has his own band (The SAS Band) as well.

Knebworth was actually Freddie’s last live concert. Unfortunately it wasn’t professionally filmed but you can find the whole show here. Brian said when it was over Freddie said, “I can’t fucking do this anymore.” It’d be another year before his AIDS diagnosis was confirmed, but he was clearly already having problems with his health in ‘86. The throat infection at Live Aid, in fact, may have been the real beginning of the end for him. God, I miss having him in this world. Love seeing you and so many others getting to know him and Queen.

Trying to catch up on a few of the songs I missed on your Queen playlist. Wembley was the part of the last tour but the last performance of the tour was actually at Knebworth, although the Wembley Sat night is my favorite. As for the keyboard player, Montreal was the last concert they did with just the four of them. After that they hired a keyboard player. For this tour, it was Spike Edney.. Hey, I don't see White Queen live at Hammersmith 1975 (official video) on your playlist. It's a fantastic song with a really nice instrumental musical interlude featuring Brian and Freddie. You should check it out if you haven't done it. I know some can get removed so maybe I missed it but definitely worth doing if you haven't done it. It's one of my favorites. Thanks, Hap3! The last video they made was “These are the days of our lives”. Now when Brian and Rog tour with Adam Lambert, Roger sings that one....I think because it’s such a special song to them. Brian and Roger said that they wanted to do their best at Wembley because they were at home. They also said that this tour was really special in many ways. They were the first group which performed in stadium and they and their technicians took a special care of the quality of the sound. Roger didn't like to play this song particularly because it's a physical challenge for him. And since it was played in the middle of the concert that's perhaps one of the reason that it was followed by two ballads. Roger said something really nice too : From the beginning they liked to see the public participate. The more it happens the more they wanted to do their best. And perhaps it's also a reason why Wembley was such a succes.

Wembley wasnt their last concert. The Magic Tour 1986 was their last tour with Freddie and the last gig on that tour was Knebworth in the UK in front uf 120.000 people in August 1986. Sadly this concert wasnt recorded fully on video. Your reaction of Who wants to live forvever in Budapest ws also from the last Tour in 1986. There is also an documentary available on You Tube called "A Magic Year Documentary", it tells the story from LiveAid in 1985 to the final concert at Knebworth in 1986 and is about 26 minutes long if you consider to watch it.

The band, Freddie in particular used to prefer wearing lighter coloured clothing....that was even people at the back could see him moving about clearly. The Magic Tour (1986) was indeed the last tour with Freddie. It played to over one million people & tickets sold out within a day...and they were all pretty big venues. After Wembley sold out twice (as well as Manchester & St James Park) they added what was to be Freddie’s last concert at Knebworth where 120,000 attended (but probably more). Quite often the band changed clothes during the set, and some outfits were then auctioned off for charity.

In the commentaries of Brian and Roger about Montreal concert in the DVD they said the company which filmed the concert put cameras every where. They didn'et like it especially Freddie. That's perhaps some of their numbers the one where normally they unleashed themselves weren't of the same equal quality in comparison of these at Wembley. And that's also the reason why we suddenly saw Freddie almost naked singing "Another one biltes the dust" because he didn't want that the days of concert at Montreal were melted.
