Songs like this one made me fall in love with Queen, they had ' normal' rock songs (of outstanding quality) but on top of that they had these kind of brilliant 'silly' songs no other band IN THE WORLD could pull off and that made them into a league of their own, above all other bands, Absolute top class A++ geniuses.

This band feels like a fever dream. Sometimes I have to remind myself that Freddie Mercury was real. That this band was made of real people, and not a bunch of mystical beings sent from the heavens to grace us with their songs. And as for this song, just... Wow. It's theatrical, catchy, in an unconventional way. The way Freddie and Roger used their voices to imitate kazoos and woodwinds, and thimbles to imitate the sound of tap-dancing is insane. There will never be another group of artists like these four.

Queen is just, unmatched as a legendary band. So much talent, such wonderful execution, and such distinct and unique songs each time!! Like, it feels like they have literally dozens of songs that would be international one hit wonders that couldn't be beaten for anyone else, all under their name. They wrote a 3 part non chorus opera. A 50s bop. A ragtime hit where they are also the big band and tap dance break. Songs about literally being the best thing to exist that manage not to come off as overly pretentious in the slightest.

Just incredible that a man who was Persian, born in Madagascar, educated in India and only came to England when he was 18 should write a song perfectly exemplifying exquisite Englishness and romance. A simply delightful, joyously infectious creation from our dear Mr Mercury.

I first heard this in about 1982 when I was a teenager and had just bought the album. I vividly remember listening to it on a pair of crappy headphones on a crappy stereo system (that's all we had back then), but even given the sonic limitations this was astonishing to listen to. Then I listened to the rest of the album 💕 Ridiculously talented

Freddie’s talent was out of this world, we have lost a legend 😞 and as Roger said Freddie had never read a book in his life and was amazed at his extraordinary brain and where he came up with vocabulary and ideas for his songs with such a big imagination! Roger said him & Freddie went into the recording studio and started messing about with the tools around them for this song. One of my favourite songs Freddie made, french words,English gentleman accent, finger tapping, give us a kiss at the end it’s just sensational 🎤🎹❤️👑

Just in case there is anyone left who doesn’t know this, the “instrumental” part of this isn’t really instruments. Not even kazoos. Just Roger and Freddie using their golden voices (plus a bit of tapping on a table with thimbles) and once again demonstrating the unlimited talent they both had. The fact that they did it all with just their voices is the reason this is actually one of their most amazing songs ever. It’s so obvious they couldn't ever perform this live, but what I wouldn't give for a making of video showing them recording this. That would be a real gift. (I always remember they recorded this back when they were both walking around looking like two young, long-haired gods! It just makes the visual of them making all of these sounds that much better! 😉)
