They are small knives, but that's the beauty of traditional knives. There's a size and shape for everyone, & every task. It's like when you find the perfect tool for the job. Very nice Queen. I like the way they added a logo on the leather. Old school craftmanship.

When I lived at my little sisters house for a few months after my mom died, they had no internet out there at the time. I had no cellphone with video either, so I would stay up until late at night & catch a Cutlery Corner show on my TV. My sister would come in and say what are you watching? I'd say "it's a knife show!" All excited, and she'd be like Why?...that's strange. 😂⚔ Some people don't understand our love of knives. They just don't get it. Poor people. They don't know what they are missing out on.

Sometimes I'm thankful for the YT algorithm that shows me videos I might like. I just did a video on my Grandfather's Queen knife that I knew very little about but I wanted to show to hopefully learn more. Your video showed up in my recommended and I learned a lot. Thank you!

I remember watching Knives Live TV when it was broadcast on Direct TV and the viewing fiasco associated with Direct TV. Any way that's a neat Bird & Trout knife for anyone's collection. Glad you own it now. Enjoyed the history facts as well.

Great that you finally got the knife. It's a beauty, that bone handle looks very nice and the logo on the sheath too. When filleting fish its very nice to have a little flex in the blade, so it glides belong the skin. Very nice one, thank you for showing Tobias.

These knives really aren’t used for filleting. They are really designed for cleaning, gutting, skinning, and caping.

@@KnifeChatswithTobias That they will all do nicely i believe. get into those narrow spaces to get all the intesties out. Or to get little game out off their jackets.

Very cool little knife! I always appreciated bird and trout knives but never picked one up. It sounds like you were on the lookout for one of these from Queen. I am glad you were able to pick it up for your collection. Thanks for sharing it, it’s always good to pick up a knife you have been searching for a for a while.

Small fixed blades are really great knives. The handle is a perfect size. The blade length is just as perfect. They are small enough to carry in a back pocket and big enough to do about everything on a walk thru the woods or working in your backyard. I have some with little shorter blades and some longer. A Bird & Trout knife looks very much like a Mountain man Patch knife. A patch knife is use to trim excess cloth from the patch used to load a round lead ball into a muzzle loading rifle. 🎇🔪✨😺

Hey Tobias, I think I may have bought some knives from that knife show :) That is a really nice looking handle on that knife amigo!! I wonder if that knife was made for smaller hands? The finish on that handle is amazing! Thanks buddy!

Hello Tobias I just ordered an 4 3/8 SMKW toothpick from 1983 in, burnt jigged stag? Would that be a Queen made? Anyway, probably paid too much, but the seller did have at least 20 large toothpicks, seems pricey, but I thought I'd let you know anyway. Thanks Ebay seller: gh_us_tvtoi98

Those little Bird and Trout fixed blades are pretty cool knives. On occasion I edc one mainly because no one has been intimidated by it yet. Most non-knife folks say it's cute. lol The Canoe is also a favorite as they are a little bigger so can do more in camp but still fillet a keeper trout. BTW, Tobias if you come across an old Western #628 Bird & Trout in good shape pick it up. I think you'll like it. Of the 3 B&T's I have I carry the Western the most.

In many ways, I think a medium toothpick or a muskrat is a better option for what these knives are designed to do. The blades are about the same size and shape and you have a bigger handle.

Great blades, great design, but a grip for an 8 year old child? How is a man supposed to use that handle with a 2 and a half finger grip? Come on! I admire makers who know “who is using” and why? I am not giving a $150 knife to a 2nd grader. I applaud those makers who make a grip for the 95% and are not afraid to add a short blade….. but not both. 😮

This knife has been around for hundreds of years and is used quite successfully by hunters everywhere. A similar knife , the kitchen paring knife is also similarly sized and quite easy to use. I know some folks want a larger handle and companies also make similar knives with larger handles. So I definitely know where you’re coming from. I’m reminded of ESEE’s Candiru, Izula, and Izula2. All essentially the same blade with three different handle lengths. Also the Case Pheasant Hunter that has a small blade and oversized Handle.

It’s for cleaning and gutting small game and fish. Also works as a caper. The knife has been popular with bird hunters for decades.

I'm thinking it's too short to use as a filleting knife?
@KnifeChatswithTobias3 жыл бұрын
@@ianrankin1293 , these are not fillet knives. They are used for cleaning and dressing ( gutting, skinning, and caping) small game, game birds and fish. They are closer to your folding muskrat knife than a fillet knife.
