Yes, that's Ratty (Peter Hince) who was both Freddie and John's roadie. He wrote a book about his years with Queen. Not gossip, just an honest account of what it was like. Highly recommend. I've always been team Montreal live but this is AMAZING too.

Thank you for reacting to this! So few reactors will do different performances of the same song. With a band as great as Queen, they don't give you the album version of anything. They give you something even better, feeding off the audience. They were so well practiced together, they could add little things here and there and the rest of the group knew how to follow. I love both Montreal and Milton Keynes Bowl. Milton Keynes feels more artistically free - Freddie makes amazing vocal choices, and he is clearly putting his heart and soul into it. As is the entire band. Not sure where I read this, but I think he wore white a lot because it made it easier for the audience to see him on stage. It definitely looked good on him. What I will say about Montreal - it is the gateway drug to deep diving into Queen live performances. Show that video to anyone who has never seen them on stage, and they'll be lost on YT for days. It also had the advantage of being filmed by an outside company that was going to tour the concert footage in IMAX theaters. It was the best technology out there at the time and the DVD is fantastic. The band did not get along with the people filming, so it has a different vibe - but spectacular, nonetheless. I'm happy to live in a world where both these performances exist.

Another white jeans fun fact according to Freddie’s former PA; the white jeans had to be ordered from the US, bc the brands in the UK were always a creamy white vs pure white. 🤷‍♂️ The shows in the UK always seemed to have an extra level of energy. This performance is faster than the one in Montreal. Love this one. Yes that’s Peter “Ratty” Hince Freddie’s and John’s roadie. Never missed a handoff

👏👏👏Yes, the "mic guy's" name is Ratty aka Peter Hince who became a great photographer later. This time he was the boss of the road crew. Roger Taylor is the drummer. We can have a hard fight 🤣 on different versions, but Freddie always was amazing. I think one of the reasons why the band loved to play live was, that these performances ensured them the freedom of changing the recorded versions as they wanted. I'm hardly waiting for your next Queen reaction. 🥳

I agree 100% that Milton Keynes is better than Montreal -- there's a reason this version is more than a minute longer than Montreal. Same for "Dragon Attack," "Save Me," and "Under Pressure." Sad that most react to this and those other songs from Montreal than this concert. The only thing better from Montreal was the video quality.

In this version (apart from that it’s all amazing), it’s the original prelude that blows me away big time, specifically the harmony (not in any part of studio version), in this video at 1:04. And also absolutely genius slow climb and peaking the major note of the song at 1:49. This takes me somewhere, where nothing else can, somehow I feel proud even for listening to it, oh my God thank you Freddie.

If I can recommend a couple of songs for you if you don't mind: Under Pressure live at Wembley '86 ( the one that's almost 6 minutes long); You're My Best Friend; Don't Stop Me Now (official video), and there's a solo Freddie did that is very beautiful that it had me teary eyed. Don't forget about Queen's "5th member", Spike Edney. Although Spike was never an official member of Queen, he toured with them for years. Where is Spike? When Freddie is out front, sining, yet you still hear the piano parts, that's Spike on the keyboards. Although Brian May is pure magic on guitars, in many Queen songs, Brian overlayed guitars - thus on the Queen songs that need 2 guitars - that's Spike again, playing guitars. Spike Edney actually replaced Fred Mandel. Spike remained Queen's road guy (and did some studio work as well) because he is a multi-instrumentalist PLUS a vocalist! Remeber, John Deacon never sang,. All the intricate harmonies were Freddie, Roger, and Brian. However, performing live, Brian would be all over the stage. He only sang when near a microphone. Thus it was Spike Edney who had to sing Brian's parts when Brian wasn't near a microphone. In this video you reacted too, you clearly hear Roger's backing vocals throughout the song, but rarely can hear Brian.
@bluebell3720
@bluebell3720 2 жыл бұрын
I think Spike joined in 84 the works tour then KOM tour Edney is credited on 2 tracks kind of magic album 86 which were Freddie/John songs PITCTP and FWF which seems odd to have someone else on keyboard but that's what someone claimed on wiki anyway! he's not credited on the miracle or Innuendo but does one track on MIH album he played at Live Aid and Brian and Roger solo work and now with Adam Lambert apparently Mandel was on the hot space tour and played synth on 3 tracks on The works I go crazy. Thank Gods it's Christmas. Brake free

He had such a god given gift and more talent in one hair of his famous moustache, than most so called singers have in their entire body 4 of my absolute favourite songs are Radio Ga Ga Hammer To Fall , I Want To Break Free and Dont Stop Me Now . I was introduced to Queen when I was 10 yrs old by my older brother who then proceeded to let me know why they were called Queen...I was already dealing with racism as a 10 yr old white girl, who loved all my black, brown, yellow, whatever friends, now I had to find a way to understand "Gay"?. But when you you just love "PEOPLE"...does it really matter what color they are, or where they come from or what their sexual orientation is? Why are so many afraid to allow people to just "BE". We only have ONE life to live here on EARTH, so why are we so afraid of others judging how we are gong to to judged on the other side? Isn't that up to the "God" they profess to, then why are they putting the "JUDGEMENT" on us, trying to distract us from their own misgivings and needing money. Live your life, let others live theirs...if you don't agree with it, oh , I don't know, maybe educate yourself. Self indulgent ignorance is the silent cancer no one is paying attention to. Be good , stay safe.
