I Love this masterpiece, predecessor of BoRhap! It’s so intense song, full of rock. Brian’s guitar is amazing, full of energy, and then, there’re angels singing, soft and sweetness, and again, the force of the Queen of the night again, full of power!! Thanks fir your reaction...!!! Bohemian Rhapsody is just one hit. In fact, the band is much bigger and wider. The band is one of the musicians of the century, and Freddie is a special genius who met them with fate. It made the world's music richer. I also heard this song for the first time and I'm crazy how special one band can be. WOW! Many thanks for the reaction to this song !!!!!

So glad to see someone learning and listening intently to something new. (However all I listen to is old music!🤣🤣🤣) But really, Queen really does make me happy and lifts my mood. Freddie was an incredible person, not just the flamboyant character sometimes portrayed negatively in the media. So talented, so courteous and mannerly, treating everyone around him with such respect. After reading about him and the band for 40+ years, I know all the people who said “if Freddie is your friend, he is a friend for life”. He possessed quite a lot of great qualities. Which then transposes into his music. I think you will enjoy this journey!

@@iREACTDiSSECT Here is a better analysis of the song: The song has a narrator, it begins on the open seas, just before a battle. It is that calm before the storm. The narrator's ship is attacked by The Black Queen, she is a pirate Queen. The term blue powder money gives this away among other things. Blue Power Monkeys is the term used for the people who used to shoot the cannons on a ship, it was a small space and the gunpowder residue made them appear blue in the face. "The term blue powder monkeys praying in the dead nigh", refers to those soldiers being fearful of a battle. "Water babies singing in Lily-pool delight is nicer things think about before battle. "Take this, take that, bring them down to size," this is the Black Queen giving out orders. The Black Queen wins the battle, she captures them and then she tortures them. Using oil and sugar is a torture method, oil is poured over the person and you rub with sugar over the skin, you can imagine that might become quite painful with more unrefined sugar. She also has their finger and toe nails pulled out, that is why they are black. "Make this, make that, keep making all that noise," they are screaming in pain, but their screams make no difference to her. "Ooh, now I've got a belly-full," the Black Queen says that it is enough torture for now. Instead she seduces the narrator, to join her side, "you can be my honey-chile". The next part is the narrator debating with himself if he really wants to joins the Black Queen, "In each and every soul lies a man and very soon "He'll deceive and discover." He would have to deceive or betray his side. But in truth it is an easy choice. The narrator actually admires the command of the Black Queen. "I'm lord of all darkness, I'm Queen of the night I've got the power, now do the march of the Black Queen." The narrator gives his fealty to The Black Queen, "I'll be what you make me, I'll do what you like I'll be a bad boy, I'll be your bad boy , I'll do the march of the Black Queen." He completely surrenders to her powers, and he is happy with his choice. "She boils and she bakes, and she never dots her "I's." That tells us that the Black Queen is perhaps not such a bad person as we are made to believe. She is just someone on the opposing side. "To hell with all of you hand-in-hand, but now it's time to be gone," the narrator completely gives up or says goodbye to his former life, he has to forget moments such as singalongs and lullabies, his previous life is gone forever.

@@ZENOBlAmusic I still think that the Black Queen is a dominatrix, but maybe the fact that Freddie wears a Mine Shaft T-shirt in a live version is just a coincidence. No one ever agrees with me, so I could be wrong. I was once before. You know I'm teasing, don't you? I would never want to cross swords with a woman who is named after one of the most formidable warrior queens of the ancient world! ;) (Besides, you're one of my favorite Queen fans.)

MOTHER LOVE!!! That was the last Vocal Track that Freddie Mercury sang and Brian May had to finish the last first because Fred said he was going home for a rest and he'd be back. Fred never went back to the studio or recorded anything more because he was getting too weak the last six months and he was in so much pain. It's a beautiful song and Freddie Mercury hits the spine wrenching note!! It's a damned beautiful song and it's not a tearjerker but just beautiful..❤❤❤

One of my favorite ! Not almost one day without listening to the March of the Black Queen. What an absolute masterpiece ! The "black side" of Queen II so different from the "white" one and so addictive. Of course you have to do "The fairy feller's Master-Stroke" but first before listening pay just attention 1 minute to "Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke" painting by Richard Dadd which has inspired Freddie and then listen to this song depicting it from Freddie's point of view. Perhaps the weirdest song ever written by Freddie but with such an artistic way !

He's often mentioned their wearing the oxide off the tape, but here's a bit of transcript from their 1977 BBC Radio One interview, on that subject - "THE MARCH OF THE BLACK QUEEN Interviewer Tom Browne: Brian, you can say something about “Queen II” Brian: I thought it was a good idea to play that because “Queen II” is an album which in some ways is the root of all that happened thereafter I think. And if people hadn’t heard that before, you could think that was something off the new album really. It still sounds that fresh to me and there are a lot of things you can still hear. There’s a lot of textured work with the intricate harmonies, the guitar harmonies and stuff. The precursor of “Bohemian Rhapsody” in many ways. So I think that was a very important album for us. It was also the first which came into the charts. Tom Browne: How long did “The March Of The Black Queen” take to record? Roger: Until the tape went transparent. Genuinely! Freddie: Those were the days of the 16 track studios and we have now 24 and 32 track. Before, when we did so many overdubs it was on 16 track. It was like, we just kept piling it on and on. It was like what Roger means, the tape went transparent because it just couldn’t take anymore. I think it snapped in two places as well. Roger: It had gone over the heads so many times with the overdubbing, the oxide had worn off. Brian: It was a big step for us, certainly at the time because no one was really doing that kind of thing in those days."

“The fairy feller’s Master-Stroke", and “The March of the Black Queen” are the special songs written by Freddie . Both song are a genius of progressive rock. “On a lyrical level, the phrases are joined with poetry and precision. It is based on the sensibility of minstrels and fairies, but from a medieval side. But the sense of “March of the Black Queen” are different perspectives. “The fairy feller’s Master-Stroke" is madness from beginning to end. And the words he utters sound like nonsense, but I need the “Encyclopedia Britannica” to find that phraseology. I discovered that everything makes sense and is poetic. Just brilliant.” Excerpt from an interview with Dee Snider, in [QUEEN, all his albums, Martín Popof, Editorial Blume, 2019

He was kind enough to autograph my t shirt I was wearing! My brother took a picture of it and I got it blown up into a 8x10 so I could frame it. I still have that photo to this day!! Sorry I missed the premier, but great reaction. I knew you’d love it. Another song you should try is The Prophets song. Written by Brian, it came to him in a dream, almost fully formed. It’s another multi genre, multi layered track that will blow your mind. The reason it is so underrated is because it was on the same album as another little song called, Bohemian Rhapsody

Really like that you said that on a spiritual level Freddie is still with us. So true and every time I watch someone else get turned on to their music, you prove it all over again. I'm not sure what you've already heard by them, but I love White Queen. It's haunting and has a medieval feel to it. At least I think so. Also, just to hear their range, listen to Melancholy Blues and Brighton Beach.

These guys are the greatest & soo underated buy some and especially the critics during the years they were popular. It's the band wasn't particularly popular in the USA at a given time they were huge and South America Europe and Asia. I remember when Queen was a monster in the USA from about 1977 until about 1982 and then Live Aid brought them back!! I wish that Freddie Mercury would have agreed to allow them to tour in the USA but he wouldn't. They were democratic and all members had to agree and Fred would not. The band's attorney in manager, Jim Beach, told the band that the less they toured America the more they were going to lose America! Jim was right! Queen's last tour in 1986 was huge in Europe but it would have been nice if they would have had at least two shows in America. The band have a lot of fans here present and past and we felt jilted in 86. long-term it really didn't matter because America exploded when the movie Bohemian Rhapsody came out and everybody went to see it and the last time I checked, it made about 1.2 8 billion dollars in six or seven months.

Tyvm for this awesome reaction😂😂Another brilliant Freddie Masterpiece💖👑The harmonies, piano, and guitar, with multiple transitions and multiple layerings. Amazing song with so many things going on all at once. The verse "In each and every soul lies a man and very soon he'll deceive and discover, But even til the end of his life, he'll bring a little love", I feel is the first self reference of Freddie, knowing he was gay, but not being able to admit it yet, while having a relationship with Mary Austin, during Queen's early beginning. Just like in Bohemian Rhapsody, a year later, Freddie's Masterpiece, people say was his "coming out" song. Anyway, awesome song, awesome reaction, and please check out Queen Live at Rainbow 1974. Those harmonies Fred, Brian, Roger!!! Good Lord those guys can sing and that high-pitched harmonic sound is coming from no other than the drummer Roger Taylor!! He could sing a lower tone and he was very powerful and then hit this off the chart high note and come down immediately something deeper notes again. The Deaky amplifier was John's creation and could make Brian's guitar sound like an orchestra.

I think it´s fun that they have removed a "dangerous" word in this lyric video. But if you listen carefully you can hear they´re actually singing ......... (at 3:30)

I told you that it’s complicated! Only parts were done live in medleys. It couldn’t be duplicated on stage! Nice reaction. My all time favorite is “Cool Cat”. Brian and Roger wanted nothing to do with it. It was written by John & Freddie. They did all of the music using different guitars, drums and a drum machine. It’s quoted as being the only song that Freddie does entirely in falsetto. It’s also on some lists as one of the 10 worst Queen songs. I don’t know of anyone who doesn’t love it. They covered every music genre. Please react to the official lyric video! kzbin.info/www/bejne/oYXSdKiPm9B6f5Y

Another wonderful and wickedly complex Queen masterpiece. The entire album - Queen II - is fabulous work. The band discusses MotBQ (among other things) here, in this excellent interview: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qV6bZI2vjrqcmZo p.s. Thank you for choosing the lyric/studio version! It's meant to hear through headphones. Everyone loves the live, but some of these songs were made for ears, ears, ears! MotBQ was never performed in its entirety live, anyway, it was too complex for that. They did incorporate bits of it live here and there, but not the whole thing. The Queen II album (recorded 1973) is filled with fantasy storytelling. Side White was written mostly by Brian May, (including White Queen) - Side Black written by Freddie. A total album experience. I have the original 33 vinyl LP album release from 1974, I still play it, and it's one of my life's treasures. So glad that you enjoyed MotBQ!

LOL! I agree, all four of them are eternal wizard Emperors (not princes, "wink, wink") of the universe! Their music and its effect on crowds is just magical! March of the Black Queen is so intense it was rarely sung live and only a small portion was sung as part of a medley. If you think your going crazy now, by the time you go through all their catalogue (hits, underrated gems and in-between) you'll have so many favorites your head will be spinning! My fairy king is also just as beautiful and etherial. Seven seas of rye live at the rainbow is as phenomenally close to the studio version as you'll possibly get, including some of Freddie's wicked humor as well. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJrGcqeNl7F6gJo enjoy.

If you wants some amazing performances that have never been heard before, check these out, I'll link them for you Somebody to Love live at Montreal 1981, First night not second night, the Official release is from the second night the one you reacted too. This is an audience recording. m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5TWq6mge56Fh6c "Sun city Impromptu" 1984 If you want those super high vocal range notes, Freddie absolutely kills it in this perfomance. You will be blown away if you here this for the first time. m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZ62p6ppeZp0a68 "Rock and Rio impromptu" 1985 Probably one of the best vocal perfomances to date, Freddie hits notes that you can only dream about, using his falsetto range to appease the crowd.

Am I the only one to notice that the official lyrics are (a) incorrect in a couple of places and (b) the completely miss out the N word in "a little n sugar and a rub-a-dub of baby oil". The word is perhaps shocking now, but it IS there and given the song is about the black queen, has some claim to being a legitimate use of it (perhaps)

You should do White Queen, Specifically: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nGnYpIGgad1shKM A night at the odeon, hammersmith 1975 I like your Idea of doing the studio tracks for most songs first, It's a good idea, but for this song in particular, the live version is far superior. I still go back to this song and just bask in the free flowing magic between Brian and Freddie's playing.

I see you laughing at the lyrics, Freddie had the very naughty N word (for black people) in this song, its hard ot pick out and they sanitized they lyrics. He was not being racist with it, but it was a sign of the times too
