Brian wrote this and he said that this song leaves us/him without a shred of hope. His marriage was failing, he had three young children and he was in love with another woman. Anyway I look at it, I lose. Such a beautiful and sad song. Brian sang this at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert. Brian's version of this song is so emotionally packed, it is heartbreaking. I think I like Brian's the best even though I am a huge Freddie fan. Even today, 1/4 of all money made by Queen, for anything that is officially Queen, goes to Freddie's estate which supports The Phoenix Trust which is an AIDS charity. So I still support Queen and their music because not only are they a great band with exceptional songs, they still honor Freddie with everything they do.

Aww friend, that’s the beauty of a brilliant songwriter, Brian knocked it out if the park. In an interview he said something to the effect, “the choruses should progress a song forward” This one is a very good example of that.

Brian actually wrote it for his own single album about the breakup of his 1st marriage and his current wife but when he heard Freddie sing it, he knew it had to be recorded as a Queen album. I suspect Freddie's emotion in the song came from a different source. Freddie has already been diagnosed with Aids at the time it was recorded and the song's reference to too much love probably hit him. He had lived such a hedonist lifestyle of partying with drugs, and sex for a while and that probably lead to him being infected.

Touching reaction but it kinda broke my heart. You are so young, intelligent, authentic, sensitive, and handsome. You've got so much potential and so much life ahead of you. Yeah, life (and love) sucks sometimes but remember how much Freddie did in just 45 years, especially the last 20 of those with Queen and solo. Remember what he says in so many ways so many times, feel your feelings but don't let the bad ones, or bad people in your life, to drag you down. I know you've reacted to it, so you don't have to do that again, but NOW is the time to listen again to "Don't Stop Me Now." They'd better not play that at my funeral cause if they do I'll be jumping out of that box. Happiest song ever, right? Hopefully it's on one or more of your playlists. Go listen and rejoice!

Have you ever considered reacting to a QAL video? I ask just because Adam Lambert has been their second frontman for 10 long years, almost as long as Freddie at this point. He really is amazing how he has brought his own voice and interpretations to their songs. Would love if you would react to him singing “Who Wants To Live Forever” at The Isle of Wight Festival, 2016. His voice is incredible and I think it’s just an absolutely stunning live performance. Also “The Show Must Go On” O2 Arena, London, 2018 is a phenomenal performance. There are so many QAL performances on KZbin, all excellent. Adam has been a second very special gift to Queen, and has been a huge reason why they have become so popular and successful again. He deserves much credit for that.
@carolannwalkup65333 жыл бұрын
Carol, I agree 100% with you about Adam Lambert, I have watched that video so many times, and it gets me every time, I don't know why there is so much hate towards this young man, thanks to him, our Queen music is alive again, and at the top again. Brian stated that Adam was A Gift From God, and he is, I wish they would tour America again, when this darn Covid is over, because this time, no matter how much the ticket is, I am paying for it, even if I have to take out a loan to do it..this is on my bucket list, if I live that long..lol

Shashank I saw that you put this out yesterday. I couldn’t watch it till today because I knew it would make me emotional. I loved your heartfelt reaction. I had a relationship totally fall apart over 30 years ago. Devastating at the time. Ending up being one of the best things that ever happened to me. The friend who helped me get out of that abusive situation ended up being my best friend and later the love of my life and husband for 27 years now. Every heart ache and every heartbreak can end up being a learning experience. For me it helped me know what I wanted for my future. The kind caring loving insightful and thoughtful person that you are I think you have a great future ahead of you. Brian may can definitely write a song and Freddie mercury sings the hell out of it.❤️😀👍❤️✌️🌼Edit to say sorry for spelling and punctuation. I have dyslexia.

You picked a fabulous song to react to! Of course Freddie could sing a grocery list and sound wonderful, but Brian's lyrics and music made this beautiful song so perfect! It's too bad they weren't ever able to perform it live while Freddie was still with them. The constantly blinking notification just above the video was distracting, though.

Brian’s song, written when he was going through his marriage break up. It’s well known, he fell in love with someone else while still married to Chrissy. He never meant to hurt her but admitted they were too young when they married. But Brian is still with Anita to this day. I’d love you to do Brian’s version. I think it’s even better than this one, but maybe only because it’s so personal to him. As always, I loved your reaction and I wish I could ‘love’ your reactions instead of just ‘liking’. Great reaction! Although Brian wrote the song, it did work well for Freddie at the same time. It was originally meant for Brian's solo album, but they needed more songs for Freddie to sing. I do somewhat disagree with some of the other comments, I do think Freddie's version was the best. His more powerful voice works better for these types of songs. But a version I do like is where Brian and Pavarotti sang the song together.
