16:22 I prefer the Qg1# move over this peculiar Qb1 sacrifice! xD
@perteadsf49144 жыл бұрын
I believe that you missed an important winning technique: If white gets the queen on the promotion square its always a win. For example, 12:47 is NOT a draw with Qc1+!.

I love this situation right around 8:00, where the king gets confined into a mate position by his own queen.

(16:23) I’m not sure about that, maybe first Qb3-Kc1 Qxc2 ++. Or did I miss something? If as is, cxb2=Q and then Black is winning?

on the lichess.org lessons, they are one of the first lessons you are taught , so i always thought they were a very basic and essential endgame, turns out the vast majority don't know them! also , do you ever see yourself playing training games in the near future? also for the first example, i found that the easiest way to convert the ones where the pawn is on the sixth is just to occupy the promotion square with your queen, and you can play on auto pilot from then on

there is an error in the queen vs pawn endgame at time 16:22 where you say Qb1# which is not true as the blacks pawn captures the queen on b1

Recently, I was able to use this technique in a position where Black had a knight's pawn and both of us had rook pawns on the opposite side of the board (the kingside). Alone, either of the two positions would have been draws. However, checking until the black king moved under the pawn gained me enough time to move my king close to the rook pawns and then I just took Black's knight's pawn with the queen and easily promoted the rook pawn. Knowing techniques like this isn't just good for the theoretical positions that are usually used for teaching them. If you know them and understand them well, you can apply them in other positions as well.

For the first example is Qa1 winning? The king can't assist the pawn in promoting since the queen guards all of the critical squares, white can now just march his king down the board and eventually capture the pawn, right?

Day 4 of requesting a classical game between Stjepan and Antonio Radić (of the Agadmator Chess Channel) Reasons why I think they should play: - Both are from Croatia - Both have amazing chess channels - Both have about the same rating - Both could make an analysis video - I love them both
