​​@@ChezaWR There is a lot censored in the anime. Particularly blood and the middle finger. Though only a few things that significantly alter the story like Zeff's leg. There are some really intense injuries in the manga but I don't think I would ever describe it as particularly graphic and most of the darkest things are still left to implication for adults to pick up on and children to miss. The manga makes it clear what happened but doesn't show much in the way of viscera. Though yeah between the pacing and the censorship I am really hopeful for the remake to be of the whole series and to be a better adaptation overall.

This is the nice thing about One Piece. It remembers that in order to survive in this world as a pirate you need to be that much better than those around you, so the older you are the more it shows how capable you are even if age is getting to you. Whitebeard isn't the only example of this, but he is 72 years old in this fight and has had declining health for a while and still caused that much damage. Blackbeard for reference is 38 at this time, Garp is 76, Sengoku is 77, Akainu is 53, Kuzan is 47, and Kisaru is 56. Luffy is only 17 here.

Whitebeard destroying Akainu was insane. It really showed the Marines and Black Beard got lucky that Whitebeard was old. If Whitebeard was younger and in his youth/prime this war probably would've ended differently. RIP Whitebeard. It was nice that we get Whitebeard backstory and his dream is to have a family. I don't like how anime did it. Sure it feels good in the moment but it distorts the anime only viewers perception of Sakazuki's (and the whole Navy's) power in the long term. In the anime: Whitebeard attacks from behind Akainu (who is drawn with a scared look on his face for some reason), the scene spends time showing WB press Akainu down (feels good in the moment but isn't canon). Then Akainu is shown seriously injured, having trouble even getting up (complete filler) while WB drops down on him. Akainu rolls over and starts blasting (looks cool but is filler). WB and Akainu exchange hand to hand combat for some reason and Akainu gets launched by a regular punch (filler, nonsensical for them to not go full power in that moment and also inconsistent with character strengths as Akainu was already shown to be able to stop WB's two handed bisento slash with his leg, without using his df, while hands in his pockets). Then WB grabs Akainu who is drawn looking terrified for some reason while doing absolutely nothing to fight back (pure filler). WB throws him in the air, while Akainu still does nothing (still filler). WB hits him, breaks the ground and Akainu falls. What actually happened (manga): WB hits Akainu with a surprise attack from behind. Akainu is hurt but jumps back from that, strikes back and takes the whole left side of WB's face. WB is much taller so Akainu had to jump to reach his face, WB strikes Akainu while he's still in the air. Akainu is shown to be hurt and doesn't immediately get up from that, the ground breaks beneath him and he falls because EVERYONE without the ability to fly would have fallen in that situation. Akainu yells "Blast you, Whitebeard!!" as he's falling, but based on the paneling it seems to imply that he's angry because WB destroyed the Navy HQ with that strike and NOT because of "How dare you punch my stomach in a battle!", which I'm not sure is something Akainu would be exceptionally angry about (especially because Akainu was already shown talk to WB about how he shouldn't destroy the Island earlier, so Akainu's final yell is most likely a reference to that). I agree that Prime WB would have done much better, but the anime also changed so many little things in favor of WB (especially against Akainu) that it kinda pisses me off. The old WB is presented as WAY better (or the Navy is presented much worse) than how Oda actually did in the manga. I've checked the arc in the manga, panel for panel, and the admirals are consistently shown to be equal or superior to WB in all of their clashes throughout the arc. In the grand scheme of things the admirals are WAY more important than WB who was properly introduced and killed in a single arc, so I find it ridiculous that the anime went and made the Navy look that much worse in the anime. The arc came out about 15 years ago and many anime only people STILL base their idea of admirals on the "fake news" -version of the anime adaptation. Obviously it's not that serious, this is just entertainment, but COME ON!!! I happen to like this one. XD

There's a trivia about the white beard's brazilian voice actor, he was an old guy who had some health problems, and the guy who was directing him (zoro voice) at the time white beard first appear on the anime wayyy back before marine ford knew that marine ford was going to take a while, so they already recorded all the voices for marine ford at that time... When they get to the point of everyone record marine ford the guy was too sicck to do it but the director already got the work recorded years ago and the guy couldn't work or pay his bills, so 'zoro' just marked the work as ''done'' and used the recordings and pay the guy to help him, years later (2024) the marine ford arch gets published os netflix dubbed in portugese and the guy had already passed away...'Zoro' Risked hiw job to help the guy in need.. So imagine for brazilians hearing a voice of a pretty important voice actor at his prime who already passed away being brought back to life to portrait a experienced pirate like white beard and ending his career with this kind of words like ''i've been traveling for a long time, it was a great voyage!' The brazilian zoro (director until now), luffy and usopp have a channel called Mistubukai where they dub the chapters every week and interview people, it's a love for one piece that i cannot explain in a comment, and 'zoro' explain this story on the channel, the video is called ''A VOZ QUE NEM A MORTE CALOU''- ''the voice that not even death shut, if guys are interested in knowing in first hand, i guess is the first time in an anime of a post mortem voice acting being published... much love, keep it up with the journey

it really did start with a funny rubber boy jumping out of a barrel, i think it is exactly why this whole saga is so heartbreaking, we've been on this goofy little adventure where no one dies and everything turns out well, we get some small glimpses of what this whole world is really about on the backstories but in the end stuff turns out okay, and then when we are confident and safe, oda lays the world bare, the slave auction followed by luffy not being strong enough on sabaody and then he can't save ace in marineford, ace gets killed not for what he is but who his father was, it feels unfair because this whole world is and we can't ignore it anymore, the world that destroyed ohara for wanting to know their history is the world we are in, nothing changed and we are forced to recognize it
