I think a lot of it has to do with frequency and exposure. US, Canada, Europe, Japan, Australia... they get a lot of shows from all bands where they get a bit desensitized to it. South American audiences don't get them nearly as often so when they do they go crazy for it because hey... might be the only time they see a band they like for many many years. Great atmosphere, great energy, great appreciation.
@superpotiron8 жыл бұрын
I agree. Western audience is probably blasé. But I think that South American people have a characteristic exuberance. Just remember the Argentinean supporters during the 2014 world cup...

Yeah! I'm from Colombia, and this tour was the first time QOTSA was here. The energy was fucking unbelievable. At the end of Little Sister, for instance, everyone went insane and Josh was like: "Whoa! Thank you so much." Fucking awesome band. I think we Latin Americans had a really good fucking time and it felt awesome to go nuts and let them know about it. If they return, I'll be there. :D

Tomi Bartók Yeah compared to Joey, Jon can actually keep tempo. Love Joey and his huge thrashing sound, but he would always speed up the songs accidentally.
@tombryan86369 жыл бұрын
Tyler Taylor Joey is a beast, the whole band were speeding up due to his power house drumming! I think he's tighter than Jon most of the time, but they're both cream of the crop. Joey is under rated, for sure.
@1ManNamedDan9 жыл бұрын
Tom Bryan Joey should and does get his due for being a beast but got to agree with Ty on this, one thing that consistently annoyed me was how Joey would kinda rush up the beats of the more nuance slower and sultry songs esp the slide step beat on "Make It Wichu", that drove me nuts. Jon Theodore is in another league - the one Dave Grohl plays in...

Great video; sound/mix not great though; the bass end is well skinny, and that snare is all over everything. Poor Hutch must have been going nuts. Thanks for the the post - Always love seeing them play smaller venues like this (instead of giant festivals). Time for me to start going to Chile to see them - It's only a 13 hour flight....
@tobiasjensen960510 жыл бұрын
Yeah, seems to be some phasing issues on the snare as well? The one @ Reading sounds amazing though.
@nanuco10610 жыл бұрын
That's because this is not a DVD, this was a online streaming, so I think it's difficult to get a perfect mix of this.
@1ManNamedDan9 жыл бұрын
Yeah I was just gonna post how poor a job the house mix board did on this - there are so many levels that are set wrong for this venue size for their particular sound. The guitar backing vocals and keys were all really awful (if you can hear the crowd singing over all that when they aren't even playing soft - you know you got it all wrong) as well the drum set was terribly unbalanced where the kick beat is lost over the constant snap of the over powering snare - Still QoTSA fed off the energy of a really great high energy crowd who looked like they had a awesome time!
@nanuco1069 жыл бұрын
1ManNamedDan I agree, except that in Chile the crowd is so incredible that always it will be louder than any band.

@OriginalUsername10 жыл бұрын
Spaghettaboutit I think he's talking about the Spiders & Vinegaroons intro or Fun Machine.
@OriginalUsername9 жыл бұрын
I guess you're right, but considering it was originally not on any release that isn't out of print (Like QOTSA's Kyuss split cd), I think it's safe to say it technically isn't on any record.
@OriginalUsername9 жыл бұрын
Don't quote me on it, but I'm pretty sure it came from some jamming in the recording studio during the Gamma Ray sessions. What surprises me is the use of synthesizers (Like Moog), which I haven't heard until Era Vulgaris, 10 years after Spiders. Still, pretty cool track that I wish they could perform someday...
