I would trade those ten mins for when I looked at Jon Davis walk on the stage at Big Day Out in Sydney 1999. I was 16 hanging on the fence like a choke hold. The guy could not believe the crowd they were stunned..... Then smiled and killed a version of "Its on" gives me the chills....

I've been a fan of their first two and Songs For The Deaf since it came out, I only checked out this album a few months ago. I recently woke from a Rock music coma, where I have been dabbling in all sorts, and I cannot agree with you more. This album is their best imo.

Me exactly too. Those two songs in this set are perhaps the 2 most beautiful, hard, and lovingly strange and amazing QotSA performances ever caught on film.

@tremlr585 жыл бұрын
This happened a lot because of Joey Castillo's playing. He plays much faster live and gave the concerts a lot more energy because of it.
@carwash93333 жыл бұрын
It’s because while I like him, Joey can’t keep time live. He rushes all fills and likes to play songs 10-20 bpm faster than all of QOTSAs other drummers. Usually he just rushes unapologetically, but here he rushes then backs off then rushes again throughout the song
@whoisqyurryus Жыл бұрын
@@carwash9333 from Modern Drummer: -MD: On the live DVD, “Song For The Dead” looks like boot camp training for drummers. It’s got Grohl’s parts-which are tough to play to start-plus a pretty involved arrangement and a drum solo over a vamp. By the end you look exhausted because the band is playing it a lot faster than on the album. -Joey: Josh doesn’t like it to be one way. He likes to push, he likes to pull, and I have to be able to move with him. I can usually read his body language pretty well. “Song For The Dead” is very physical, and obviously you can see that. We’ve pulled tempos back since then, though it depends on how the band is feeling. So there you have it, it was the whole band speeding up with Josh's musical direction lol

Josh does this a lot in his live performances. supposedly in some songs he can’t sing like the studio version or it’ll damage his voice. though i feel like if he didn’t do the higher pitched parts and just kept a more casual pitch than the song would be perfect.
@faramund98659 күн бұрын
@@CheeseButExpired I don't see why they just didn't do the multiple voices they have on the record. Now instead Josh is just jumping between the voices for no reason at all. Would prefer if he would've just done the lowest voice, it is the most sense making the sing when nothing else is sung.
