Damn, thats why they were so damn awesome in the day. Chris and the boys were on time and in tune and Geoff was in key and could hit ranges that are completely amazing. It was the best days of my life and am so thankful that QueensRyche is part of that for me. Voices are calling me back to the day...Listen

It still amazes me that Tate could nail this song live. I've listened to Queensryche countless times and I'm still in awe whenever I hear them during their prime.

Superb stuff. Been a ryche fan since the mid 80's and this is one of the best live versions I've seen. Geoffs voice is just so strong. Anyone who questions his voice needs to watch this clip.

OMG! The mighty Queensryche in their prime. Geoff Tate was the greatest voice to come out of the 80's scene. Rage for Order was such an underrated album (or to far ahead of it's time). I wish I had seen them in this tour. Got to see them the next year though. Thanx for posting.

When did I say Todd is better than Tate at his best? Prime Tate is my favourite vocalist of all time, in any genre; Live in Tokyo remains my most played music DVD. He was one of a kind, and will be remembered (one can only hope) as a legend and a trailblazer. At present, however, he has a severely deficient voice, and even struggles to stay on pitch. As evidenced by Tate's recent shows, Todd is, today, a better singer. His tone is improving (with his breath control), and he's always emotive.

I've seen a lot of bands over the years...including this one in '84 and on this tour, but I've NEVER heard vocals like that from anyone else. It was an amazing time for sure.

Saw these guys in Baltimore open for Kiss during the Lick It Up tour (1985 I believe) and they BLEW 'EM OFF THE STAGE! I was sitting in about tenth row- main floor and Geoff Tate's voice was UNBELIEVABLE!

Okay definitely NOT the Lick It Up Tour that was 83'. In 85' KISS had released the Asylum album. It was 84' that KISS was supporting the Animalize album and when I saw Queensryche open for them (Philly). They were GREAT and I love Queensryche but they did NOT blow KISS off stage (imo) just sayin'

Geoff Tate was the FINEST most gifted singer in rock history with apologies to Halford, Dio, and Dickinson all of whom are spectacular in their own right. Still, could any of them pull off Queen of the Reich at the END of a show like Tate did? Lord that is some powerful stuff.

Todd is actually benefiting from not only the legacy of QR, but also the point in time he joined the band. Back in their beginnings, being young, full of energy and ambition, they toured hard and partied hard. It's just a part of being young. Today they are past that and working to build the brand. So, for me, I feel very fortunate to have witnessed those early years live and in progress. And I like how you noted "driven by vocal lines", which a lot of people overlook but are drawn to.

Absolutely amazing! This band was perfect at the time this was made. I miss the duel guitars and Geoff's awesome 4 octave vocal range. Studied under, Maestro David Kyle, also the vocal trainer for the Wilson Sisters of Heart. He's also fluent in piano and keyboards also saxophone. Chris DeGarmo was such an amazing composer. RYCHE ROLLED THE WORLD!

I wish Queensryche still had this intensity, and -above all - I wish they still had DeGarmo. While I'd still buy a ticket to see the band anytime anywhere, this incarnation of the band was just so hungry and ready to take on the world. I'm glad I got to see them several times during that era.

@sobeto28 Nope. Head voice. He hits a short A5 in one version of "Prophecy" and, I believe, at the end of the album version of "Blinded". A good example of a G5 from him is in his 1985 Live in Tokyo performance of "Queen of the Reich". If you can hit a G5 that powerfully, an A5 really isn't all that far-fetched. It seems, however, that this is pretty much the definitive top of his range.

@REXxMaskimus I totally agree with you. Most guys dress boring now. In the 80's male artists were allowed to look good, and you sure as hell didn't have to be gay to appreciate that. They were our idols, leaders, superheroes, and they had to have super appearance. It was very inspirational and cool. Image was and still is very important! You can't really look up to a guy who looks like he just walked off the street.

Then in 1991 I saw them headline and I've caught every tour since except the current tour because it isn't coming to my city
