I'm back again with some more special MTV stuff. The Headbangers Ball did a 2 hour special with Queensrÿche for their release party for their latest album 'Promised Land'. I cleaned up the picture a bit, and also cut out the commercials and video clips that would otherwise get this video blocked. There's some cool stuff, and some goofy stuff as well - basically the usual MTV stuff from this period.
Enjoy!

I saw them live on the Promised Land tour. It was more of a Rock Opera than a concert. It was AWESOME!

Rikki was always a tool and Queensyche gotta be the most reluctant rock stars ever. Maybe it's a Seattle thing.

The beginning of the end for the band... thanks for posting this - retrospectively, the cracks and tension are painfully evident. Top quality, many thanks

Jeff & Chris, two high school buddies who were able to write numerous albums of music ? Uhhh, Hell No, they were able to channel the Supernatural. They made a deal for fame fortune & talent. Now we are nearing the end of REVELATION which is going to be "Like no other time in the history of the world"... because Satan gave his minions technologies to create weather systems, earthquakes, tsunamis, wind driven wildfires & volcanic eruptions. There is no gateway to an "Underworld" but Area 51 scientists have create any Monster Hollywood has shown us & they've built "UFO's". End times is going to be horrific ! Sucks to know your favorite music stars sold their souls.

A lot of people checked out from Queensryche around this time. Still it peaked at number 3 on the charts.

Love rewatching this. I was so excited for this album release and had my VCR ready for this episode. Such a great record and sadly the beginning of the end of the band as their follow up cd was Chris' swan song as the record company and his relationship with the band imploded. Chris will never get enough credit for being the glue holding them all together for so long--he knew it was over and did right to fly away into the sunset. Miss that dude terribly but what a legacy! My life was so enriched by the musical presence of Queensryche in those days. Forever grateful.

Porqué este hombre me llama tanto la atención?? Chris De Garmo tiene una magia, una chispa de atracción cósmica, me encanta Queensryche y su estilo no enfada como otras bandas. I love you Chris De Garmo❤

Ricky owned a club on the Hollywood strip and was a proponent of those “junkie gypsy” bands like Gn’R and Faster Pussycat. The guys in QR more than likely knew this and didn’t like him from the get-go. The band knew that Promised Land was totally different from Empire, OM, etc and good ol Ricky had to keep reminding them about the changes in the record industry since Empire’s release. That was a nice blast from the past..not one of the happier times in my life but that’s the way it goes.

From the clips I've seen, the chemistry was a lot better when they met in 1990 and 1991. This one definitely feels weird and tense.

They should have struck while the iron was hot instead of waiting forever. The industry had passed them by and this album made no statements to spearhead any musical movements like the past. They should have released a metal album right after Empire that just rocked. Then make an Ear in the Now Frontier type album in 93-94 instead of being so late to the party in terms of stripped down rock band sound...
