Does my ❤ good seeing not only miniatures being used but so many young faces working on them. Thanks for this Berton, brings back good memories of another lifetime.

Building miniatures was a dream job of mine growing up. Never made it. But I still build scale models every free time I have. I just love watching these videos and marvel at each and everyone's talent. Thank you for sharing and I am looking forward to the next video.

Amazing work! I didn't realize how vast miniatures use was in the movie upon seeing it. Admittedly two scenes looked off: cars driving on an overpass and airplane taking off. One could argue that they could have been cut off but then I wouldn't even notice this incredible part of the movie.

Ive been watching this channel for a couple of years now and i still dont really know what is it. Thought it was clips from a movie some days, others that it was a YT channel uploaded videos not part of a movie. What ever it is, its bloody amazing, great work and great memories of great films.
@berendharmsenАй бұрын
I think he started the channel as a way to release the hours of footage he collected for his (great) documentary of interviews with practical effects people who worked on the movies in the 'shoot everything with models' age. He also made his own stuff (also great) and shared much of that as well. I was always surprised about how much content he was able to keep trickling down to us on this channel, but I think he finally ran out of stuff he made himself (interviews and his own work) and instead of calling it a day he then went on finding similar footage from other sources. I absolutely love this channel as well.

I wrote a brief description on the main page. My channel is mainly for my ongoing documentary on miniature effects in movies (Sense of Scale). I also included short films, movies and commercials etc. that I directed.

The trailer has some finished shots in it. But many of the miniature shots were edited out of the film to cut down the running time. Hopefully they show up in a longer version on the Blu-ray.

No era mejor grabar en México y ya?
@piercefilm21 күн бұрын
Mexico is probably too dangerous. There is more control in Europe. It's not supposed to be totally real. Miniatures and studio sets are used as a style choice by the director as far as I can tell.
@pixelspring23 күн бұрын
AI is coming for my job, and I build all of what you see here with software.. The sad reality is that the only reason someone paid a lot of money to get these sets built is for some reason they had an idea it would look more “real”… which simply isn’t true anymore. AI isn’t quite there yet thank god , but it will be soon. Sooner than we are all prepared for. You can’t build miniatures and have the materials behave properly to physical effects forces. Stiffness doesn’t scale linearly. Great and amazing work btw. Very talented team… I wish we lived in a world where your skills had permanent residency.
@piercefilm23 күн бұрын
It's kinda down to the few directors who appreciate a stylistic "look" with miniatures. Like doing a stop motion film instead of computer animated. At this point it's great to see miniatures, even if you know it is a model you can appreciate people actually making a thing that exists. And you can go see them in museums (Film Museum of Miniatures in France), which is not possible with CGI or AI. Also you can bid on model props from films if you have the money, and own a piece of cinema history!
@pixelspring23 күн бұрын
@ .l appreciate the reply and the work of your talented team of artists. Long may the skills and the work exist. When it’s done well, it works great.

The film is from a novel with the same name by William Burroughs. He also wrote Naked Lunch

William Burroughs is not for everyone. David Cronenberg did a decent job directing Naked Lunch.
