It's a bit sad that they used this particular quote to serve as click bait when he spends the whole interview talking about getting to a point of finding comfort in one's own skin and not having to label yourself. I'm sure if Antoni saw this, he'd be just as disappointed and felt like the whole point of his messaging was diluted by a quote that misrepresents the interview and was about his head space while insecure. Focus on the empowerment he's trying to precipitate and use one of his more inspiring quotes: "[learned to be] fully comfortable with who I am."

But this is the nature of youtube titles It is the nature of all big business; to use manipulation to draw you in so you "buy" their "product." In the case of media the buyers are the advertisers, who won't pay a station unless ratings are high. So just by watching a clip youtube keeps their advertisers. It is the nature of all mainstream media. It is this dynamic that has empowered Trump cultists to call all news "fake." The news really does make profit their highest priority, unless you watch alternative media, and even then a business has to make some money just to continue to exist. So; get used to it. Unless we make laws that require absolute accuracy in any kind of news-like expression this is impossible to regulate without modifying our constitution and our first amendment rights of free speech. Free speech means it's usually not illegal to lie. (Myself; I would like to see youtube, twitter, google, amazon, and facebook to be busted by our anti-monopoly laws; but technilogical communications weren't on the radar when those laws busted big corporations in the past. How could the unions of the late 1800s up till the depression possibly foresee technilogical mass media? They could not.)

I think it's more complex than just feeling more self conscious because there's a more direct comparison with you. I've heard more women would say they feel more comfortable and confident in their body when they're in relationships or intimate with other women compared to with men. There's a lot of different things that can factor in.
@emily22545 жыл бұрын
I think it heavily depends on the person. I absolutely feel better about my body when I'm with women, but my fiance said she used to feel self conscious because she compared herself to me. But we both agree that we feel less shameful and less pressure about our bodies- especially things like hair and periods- when we're with women, probably because other women understand our bodies.
@humanormachine29364 жыл бұрын
I'm a woman in a relationship with another female bodied person. I absolutely compare my body to hers and sometimes it does really get to me. But overall, I feel much more comfortable with her than with men, or at least the men I've been with. Men haven't hesitated to make their opinions known about my appearance, good and bad.

Josue2018 I think that’s exactly the part that’s confusing me. I think I’m "functional" with a guy if I really like him as a person, but it just doesn’t feel the same. But then I’m left wondering if that’s "enough" to call it bisexual or pansexual or whatever or not?
@carlystrang51015 жыл бұрын
@Josue2018 That's really not true. Your statement is bi-phobic. From my persepective I can't imagine not falling for someone, just because of who they are: female, male, non-binary, trans, it really doesn't matter. Trying to get my head around someone only liking one gender, is like trying to understand the physics of baryonic dark matter. Your experience is just that YOURS.
@carlystrang51015 жыл бұрын
@@josepha133 Call yourself whatever you like :) Or don't, it's your own business. And ignore the "functional" bs, it's an awful statement that has been used in awful situations. If you are in love with someone you make it work. There are folks that don't have sex at all in romantic relationships, asexual romantics, and that is normal and healthy for them. The important thing is having healthy relationships, be that with someone you just want to cuddle forever, or bump uglies with.

I'm so sorry! I'm a female, but I've had the same experience. Men seem very comfortable openly expressing their negative opinions about other people's bodies/attractiveness level. And the more I think about it, I can’t help but feel like it’s truly because I’m scared to see someone else’s body around my age. I’m afraid to feel even more insecure. I don’t want see a body I don’t have or see something different.
