It's really good that more Muslims are becoming mental health professionals. When I converted about 40 years ago, there were no Muslims where I live. I had to see a psychiatrist and the "help" I got was unislamic and atheistic.

What if the family member is breaking your home and stealing your car and selling drugs and cursing and calling you horrible names and you already suffer from depression, then what to do .????

I would consider calling the police and pressing charges. Talk to other family members first, if they can give a better alternative. This person is endangering you and any one else in the house. Maybe they need to be in jail. You can still wish them Eid Mubarak twice a year and visit them in jail.

My husband doesn't want to be around my family at all! He refuses to visit them or be around them because they never got along.. is it okay for him to avoid contact and avoid them if he fears having more problems. He just wants to be peaceful and he feels that he cannot be around them at all because it has been a lot of problems and violence and difference of lifestyles.

Your husband isn't obliged to your family, he's only obliged to his family just as you are only obliged to your family

A young Muslim woman was just killed by her father after letting her abusive father and brother back into her life. If they are totally un-Islamic, there is nothing in the Qur'an telling you to respect them. Respecting your parents means actual Muslim parents.

Judgement call on what it is, seek personal counselling it will help inshallah and make more sense of you have someone who knows the whole context of your situation, May Allah make it easy for you
