20 sec in the video and i know him for years on internet. eli the computer guy its a master in networking, some programming langues, cyber security of course , active directory and all that big companies needs + hes also a hardware building and programm those too, in my opinion he knows too much while he's having fun as a down-to-earth kind of guy. he's not a wine, but a beer person. imagine that talent.

Been in IT since 2004, classically trained in comp sci and wow am I burned out....in fact I burned out years ago! Help desk burn out was first and that was about 2-3 years in and was a stark change for me. the rest was around year 5. As I write this Im servicing a help desk request for a "broken PC" thats causing more trouble then its worth and I want nothing more to get to bed but I cant because the user is "too important" to put off. So here I sit with a best case scenario of 2-3 hours of sleep tonight/this morning all for a help desk call. Im a 1 man IT department so I have to handle it all....was hoping by this time in my life I wouldnt be doing this (help desk) but the flexibility is too nice with kids and such...Oh yeah did I say help desk is the devil?!?!?

I remember you said in one of your videos you had aspergers you also said you ran a company with employees and you where employed got call out jobs and regular clients. I'm considering whether I should disclose my aspergers openly or if that would just hurt my chances of finding employment even more as employers may see a grater legal risk as well as potential social difficulty's in the work place and self employed work is much harder without a good network witch is harder to form and keep weather I disclose or not. What did you do? I'm also high functioning and degree educated.

You're a wise man Eli - and something I don't hear enough about in the industry is the level of responsibility. Nowadays EVERYTHING is dependent on solid, highly available infrastructure - and if it doesn't work, NO ONE works. It's a tremendous amount of pressure and stress. I've worked positions that my life and limb were in danger every second, and none of it even compares to the stress of being a large environment sysadmin.

@RealityGutPunch9 жыл бұрын
Mouadh Ben I don't think it's that he doesn't play with the techy toys. It's pretty clear Eli has lots of current knowledge and practical experience. Most of that you can get in a lab. His 'IT wisdom' comes from experience. Just because you don't want to be actively working as a systems admin; consultant or architect, doesn't mean you're not a geek.

What would you actually say you do here at KZbin, Eli?.......Name that movie?
@GurukiranS8 жыл бұрын
You live in the United States and you are a citizen of the United States so you can literally do anything for a living like making videos on KZbin because your economy supports it. It doesn't happen so in most of the developing countries in Asia such as India whereas you are forced to have a desk job irrespective of how much ever you earn. So you are pretty lucky, living the life you want.
@nicetry694208 жыл бұрын
There's no reason they can't but it's probably not the same rate as America simply because of local area economy differences and it's just much much harder to build a content library in those necks of the world. It's definitely DOABLE, but nowhere near as doable as the US

"real tech professional".... No. im sure maybe some people are willing to hire you, bit you are as " profrssional" as you try to make yourself seem. you know, a lot of people here dont have a lot of knowledge in the computer and networking field at a even a college level, which is why they watch your videos and love them. However, I gurentee im not the only one with actual experence that tried to watch a few of your videos (chosing server hardware being one of them) and though to ourselfs, "uhhh...He doesnt seem very experenced). A lot of my issue with your informitive videos is on HOW you present most information. it makes it misleading to people that are new to these things. at some points it angers me. for example, that chosing server hardware. Please, viewers, if you want tech information, goto someone with more experence. not me, not eli, but someone with REAL WORLD experence. I domt have much beond 3 years in college, yet i can still see the bullshitting he feeds you guys at points. sorry, triggerred. Eli, please, goto college, get your ccna, security+, VMware cert, etc. all of the popular and LEADING certs in these fields before you claim to be a expert on youtube without any solid work experence in the field. drunken rant done.
