The only gripe you have that's legitimate is Hamlin jumping the start. Larson getting spun was a legitimate caution. Maybe not at an intermediate, but at a short track, it was the correct call. And as for pitting? Staying out would've been a death sentence. Tires mean everything at Richmond. Had he stayed out, he would've finished last on the lead lap. And that's assuming he didn't get run over like Reddick did at Bristol.

As a Truex fan, I didn't mind the outcome of the KB caution. As a fan, I questioned the validity of it. Also as a Truex fan, the end of the race hurt me. A lot. Due to time zones and other things, I thought the race started at 7 PM my time. I tuned in several laps before the KB caution. I saw Truex struggle all last playoffs. Truex has not been getting many lucky bounces, but he's fighting his way to a top 3 overall points position. Seeing him lead for half the race was satisfying. Seeing him pass Larson with ease was beautiful. Seeing the ending brought all of that crashing down.

25% on The Groovy Gauge for this in comparison to 85% for the Daytona 500 where half of the field wrecked in the last 10 laps and the winner was decided by the person who pushed the caution button? As a Truex fan, I would more likely agree with these two scores swapped. But great episode as always, Eric!

NASCAR is just very petty when it comes to these "calls" nowadays in my honest opinion.

The caution was justified. The no-call on the restart was questionable at the very least.

@@EricEstepp I do not think the caution was justified. In the replay I saw, Larson does spin into the grass, hitting the inside wall but he keeps moving. Got back on the track thereafter. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZeyqKGOqrGSpZY

@@ak102986. It’s just NASCAR being NASCAR. Last caution was “justified” but not required. Larson didn’t hit anything and kept moving. At least cautions can be somewhat subjective. However, jumping a restart is not. Either you did or you didn’t. Like speeding on pit road, either you were speeding or you weren’t. Maybe Bell’s speeding on pit road was close and then shouldn’t have been called?
@ak1029869 ай бұрын
@@charlesshults7398 if it is not required, then it is not justified. I am of the opinion that everything should be called. It should not matter if it is the last lap, two laps, etc. Just like in any sport. If it is a foul then it is a foul regardless of the context or moment.

In car data could have resolved it in a instant. NASCAR choose to make a call without any data from the car. They can see if he accelerated before the white line.

I think this needs to be addressed that the choice to run wet weather tires need to be in the hands of drivers and crew cheifs. Instead of nascar telling teams when they can run rain or slicks let the crew cheifs decide because that adds to the strategy that fans love to see. And nascar needs to stop throwing comp yellows forcing cautions to change tires because that's whst the officials seem fit in the moment. Let the race run it's natural course. Let teams choice to start on dry or wet tires and as the track changes, choice if you want to stay on wets or go to slicks. Put it in the hands of the teams not the officials. If fans like strategy that what nascar needs to do.
