The P47 with a radial engine will withstand more damage by nature of it's design. Many radial engined aircraft had complete cylinder heads shot away and still ran well enough to get the aircraft home. (Certainly with multi-engined bombers).

Maybe the ai especially with ww2 birds has gotten better. Every bullet from even the lowest enemy rating would %100 hit a critical system often head shots. Meanwhile I shoot cotton balls and have glued to the enemy's 6 shooting until my wrist hurts. Even trailing smoke, shedding parts the enemy just keeps on flying.

Would be interesting to see if that tough radial engine is P-47 exclusive or if other planes with Aircooled Radials like the fw-190 are modeled the same way.

By the looks of it the first round on the mustang went through the fuselage into the wing which is why it caught fire, but with the thunderbolt it went through the fuselage and not into the wing

At 6:00 P51 probably went dead because you are shooting at an angle and so the exit of the bullet would be through the engine (assuming DCS has accurate bullet physics).

I wish war thunder made this realistic... surviving 200 Bf109 and Fw190 rounds in anything is impossible in war thunder...

They could have been from the MG 08 or MG 131 machine guns with 7.92 and 13mm calibres respectively. The minegeschoss shells do overperform in War Thunder, but they would have easily knocked out control surfaces in 2-4 hits like other 20mm cannons.
