I love QC&C. Watching it is such a happy and pleasant little break in my day. I agree with Zack on "just get what you want." That's why I got an EV. I had been waiting for an EV for many many years, before they were even practical. And, when they finally became somewhat affordable (at least some of them), I got one. I got a VW ID4 because it was a good value, and am very happy with it. But, I probably would have been happy with any of the similar small electric crossovers on the market, since I love electric drive. I know Andrea is not a fan of the shifter, but I thought it was intuitive. Different strokes.

Love your point about paying interest on packages. I am sure many people don't realize that. Having learned an expensive lesson on a new Lexus years ago, I no longer purchase the extra packages in the "business office." A Lexus dealer convinced me to purchase the seat and paint protection package as well as tyre warranty. Three months after the purchase, a crack appeared in the passenger seat. The dealer blamed it on me, even though I didn't have a passenger. Was never fixed. As for the tyres, there was always an excuse that the warranty company didn't authorize replacements as the tread was not within the threshold. Interestingly, another Lexus I purchased some years later didn't have any extra warranties; I was often pressured into replacing the tyres because of so called lower treads. Like Lexus, but now understand that all dealers make extra $$ on extras so have been firm about not purchasing extras.

I think the answer to about why other manufacturers can’t match Toyota’s reliability is because they are ether trying new technologies all the time, or they don’t have the money to create quality products. Toyota not only has the money, but they tend to use old tech and put all their money into making lasting cars, rather than fun or interesting cars (typically)

It is incomprehensible how the policy makers / politicians fail to see the folly of going full speed forward for all EVs. 🤪There are so many reasons not to, starting with price, electric energy generation, and charging issues. How are the huge number of apartment dwellers and others who park on the street most of the times supposed to charge their EVs??? Either they are insane, deluded, trying limit car ownership, or getting some sort of financial benefit from these policies. 🤔

I really believe the reason many people are driven whether they know it or not why to the SUV the higher-up car is because when you're in a sedan and you get a big old SUV or a truck behind you, well guess what their big old headlight beams are? They're flooding your mirrors their flooding inside of your car with light and it makes it harder to see at night😬 I love the station wagon. When people would ask me, " hey what's your favorite car? I would say a station wagon... I would list all the many reasons why. But now I too want an SUV because I feel safer on the road.

Just like the vehicle itself, dealer maintenance and extended warranty packages have an MSRP. If you want to offset the cost of financing (and them some) just ask the finance person what the best price for a package you're considering. In my experience, they'd far rather sell to you at a discount rather than let you walk, because the F&I people are salespeople on commission. My experience only extends to the U.S., Canadian law or practice may differ.

At that dealer meeting Zack spoke of, you can bet your booties the "made in Mexico" car was thoroughly inspected before the Mexico vs. Germany presentation. All I know is that I've seen my fair share of relatively new VW's with a rear running/brake light out. Maybe the wiring harnesses are made in Mexico with poor quality control and shipped around the world so it makes no difference where the car is made.

I think Zack makes a valid point about why the Toyota Crown exists; since the large sedan market segment has basically been obliterated and the Crown is now the only offering in that segment, it'll have a monopoly on whatever little demand that still exists for large sedans, which may well result in enough sales to justify its continued existence. The fact that it's only offered as a hybrid (2 versions) gives it a better shot of attaining that goal since demand on hybrids, especially Toyota hybrids, is at an all time high these days.

Ford actually will let you add factory warranty even on a used Ford as long as the original warranty has not timed out or miled out. So at 4 years 11 months and 98,000 kms on a used F-150 you can still extend the drivetrain warranty.

With a vehicle being so important and expensive the quality control is a must and i understand people getting quick to anger with a lemon. I have a lot more trust with a company like Ford or Toyota that will admit there's problems and you get a fix down the road. Hopefully not a immobilizing problem. The companies that lie or gaslight people are nuts. There's no way you don't get caught up in a recall from a class action these days when you lie and people remember that. It's true that the youths ("da yoots!") don't want to spend money on cars, and also, what's cheaper and usually more convenient than cars in metro areas, is mass transit. What's cheaper still is walking and cycling, and once you start using transit and cycling you realize what an absolute pain in TIME as well as energy owning a car really is. You then also might realize for normal folks it's a similar cost to live in a city and use the occasional rental or pay for delivery, as it is to be in a suburb and 'forced' to own a car. I love driving, but I hate traffic : last owned a 1989 944t and now have an EV for chores, it's fine. More car brains need to wake up to this imho, a car is for fun and we all win with better transit.

My Mexico-assembled VW Jetta from 1995 was the absolute worst lemon ever. I would never buy another VW after that car. @10:03 Please give your viewers the whole story! Yes you can get a third party warranty later on but there’s conditions that must be met to do so. 1) you’ll have to go into a repair shop and have a complete safety check done to ensure no outstanding issues are present. 2) the warranty could end up being more expensive due to age and mileage. 3) not all third party warranties will cover the most common issues such as infotainment systems which can cost thousands to repair or replace. Please be mindful with your recommendations as people take your advice without knowing the whole situation.

Reliability scores are usually an indication of the future resale value... the lower the reliability score usually the lower the eventual resale/trade-in value...(1 exception, Jeep Wranglers), but, if you are going to buy a car or SUV it would behoove you to research the long term reliability... you don't want to have to pay out constant costly service and maintenance bills after the car runs out of warranty and the total value of your automobile purchase is the initial cost minus the service/maintenance costs, minus depreciation (resale value)... so, if you pay the same or even a little less initially for an unreliable lower resale vehicle your return on investment (ROI) is not nearly as financially wise when you do eventually sell or trade it in... look at both reliability and depreciation in order to make a prudent buying decision.

Reliability is always a controversial subject. Everyone knows someone who swears by the cars they drive and also someone who will never buy xyz brand of cars. Sometimes you get a lemon while other times you get that perfect car that has no issues. I've had 3 Dodge Challengers and other than 1 minor plastic trim piece cracking on the 1st one, not a single issue. But lots of people think Dodge is trash. Mine have been perfect. My wife's 2016 Malibu has also been perfect while her previous one was garbage and caused us nothing but headaches. Definitely never buy 1st year of any car, regardless of manufacture. Anyone who has worked in any industry knows what it takes to get the initial bugs out in the 1st year or 2 of any product. Worse now with so much software and electronics in all new cars. Wait till year 3 and you'll be much better off.

I don't get the EV argument. When I bought my EV, I was open to hybrid, PHEV and pure EV. My criterion were simple: 1) fastest one I can get; 2) no dealer markup. Not single hybrid came through, no mention PHEV. They were just not available. It's not like, if you hand 200 kw/h battery to Toyota, they can make 100 hybrids today. There is no one else to blame but legacy car makers themselves. If there was a prius, rav4 prime or marverick available with no markups. I would have bought it. If anything, one should buy the most efficient hybrid, PHEV or EV. That Range Rover PHEV has 38 kwh battery, but only 48 mi range. Give batteries for two range rover PHEV, EV makers cam give you an EV with 300 miles of range. I am not sure that kind of PHE is the best way to use batteries.

Let's face it, with auto manufacturing(hell nearly ALL manufacturing) being standardized, automated and computerized, where it's made and who is assembling, when it comes to the established automakers, it is almost removed from the equation. It comes down to at best, geographic job protection, and at worst, racism/racist tropes. Especially with people commenting they would never buy a Chinese manufactured car...from their Chinese manufactured computer/smartphone/tablet! 😏
