I love these questions for the rector series. Of course, His Excellency always on point and very logical. I also like Steven' role, he does a really nice job. Thank you!!!! God bless you.

God bless bp Sanborn and ICR clergy for their magnificent work they do for the Church. It's so touching to hear bp Sanborn once learnt Polish language. Rules of the Church before Vaticanum II disaster must be learn - not made them up according to someone imagination.

Anglican priests often wear cassocks. I saw 2 in Salisbury Cathedral UK some years ago.

For clarity & truth on any issue concerning Catholism, pre or post VatII, THIS IS PLACE & Format I rely on. Thank you. Just quick thought, but, as a layman, I find that, by having a small wardrobe, the occasion of the sin of pride is easier to avoid. 😅

Once, a group from our chapel went out on a parishioner’s boat, priest in cassock included. He was joking that if the boat sank, he could capture air under his cassock and give the rest of us a last blessing as we went down for the last time! I wouldn’t think anything of seeing a priest in a cassock in Home Depot. I’d just say, “Good morning, Father.” No big deal . In New York City area, you can wear literally anything, or nothing, and not get a second glance! Literally! Once, while driving down 2nd Ave. at about 10:30 PM, the usually light traffic bottled up, and it was obvious something was wrong up ahead. I crept down slowly, single file and saw the problem from a half block away. A man was in the middle of the road, pushing a floor polisher on its two rear wheels. He was wearing sneakers and a baseball cap. And that’s all.😮 People we’re blowing horns, making unfriendly gestures, yelling four-letter words. Finally, upon reaching E. 96 St., he veered off onto the sidewalk; at which point, everyone quit the complaining and floored their gas pedals. Only in NYC is the main problem the obstruction of traffic instead of a nude dude, in need of medical assistance.

The same can be said about the abito corto, which was worn by clerics of all ranks including Pope Leo XIII before the late 19th century.

Just a note - I would be so.lost without sedevacantist clergy and sedevacantism laity who have given so much. There's a loneliness without Catholics around (once a month I am blessed to have Mass). So 50% , I watch these just to hear good Catholics

The untrained eye might not know the difference. Same thing with Amish and certain Mennonites. I can tell which community Amish are from by their dress. In the US, the only other religion that wears a cassock like garment are certain Orthodox and some Eastern Rite clergy. During the c-sickness, my priest snuck in to a nursing home by wearing scrubs. There were so many substitutes, strange faces that nobody knew. The fact that he’d been an EMT before the seminary certainly helped.

Why is it that sedevacantism has only taken hold amongst Latin Catholics? I only know of one Byzantine priest who claims the Petrine See is vacant. I feel that sedevacantism would be a more digestible position if it was a more universally held position.

Was the Byzantine Rite of Mass forbidden after Vatican II?

@@HomealonerHill no, but sedevacantism is not just about the Mass. It's about the hierarchy maintaining the Orthodox faith.

@@cristiancaiola9588 But the liturgical revolution implemented through the Novus Ordo is key to understanding the development and trajectory of the traditional movement among Latin Catholics, which has resulted in many of them embracing Sedevacantism. I think that if the East has been somewhat sheltered from these radical changes, especially as it pertains to the practice of the Faith, it would explain the lack of any significant organized response or even the lack of need to question VII and the actions of its hierarchy. Do you go to a Byzantine rite of Mass?

I expect a large part of the reason is that Zogbitism had long since taken hold in the East -- i.e., the idea that you can believe all the heresies of the Photians (primus inter pares, denial of the Filioque, of purgatory, of original sin, &c.) and still be (or at least profess to be) in communion with Rome. When Vatican II hit, they probably in large part didn't notice or care...

Frankly too many Byzantines are infected with schismatic attitudes, so they may not even believe in the papacy.
