Glory, my dad was in WWII. My brother, who loved to mountain climb, tells a story about when he was 20 and informing our parents that he was taking time off of college to go climb Mt McKinley in Alaska. Our mom got all concerned and mad and told our dad to do something about this. Dad thought for a moment and said to mom, “Rita, when I was 20 I was off in Europe fighting a war.” Our mom could not say anything to that. Have fun on your adventures. You will not regret it when you are 60.

One of those shades that is meant to keep the sun out of the front window of your car, the ones that are made of two circles covered with fabric with a joint in the middle, all you have to do is take that with you walk like 50 to 100 feet away you don’t have to go into the woods, since it an add an angle it’s actually free standing you can squat down behind it do your thing and then fold it back up and walk back to the group. It’s super easy to hide behind and then you won’t have to walk as far

If you find yourself in need of a shower you can go to a truck stop like flying J or Pilot loves, etc., bring shower shoes, but most are very great and secure and also have laundry rooms as well. get the app and pick your time for when you would like to shower and it will notify you unless you just want to go in. Also, you can save on fuel or get points as well to use for shower, food etc.,.

Period cups are so handy. Little tricky the first couple times but it’s easy once you get used to it and so much nicer when you’re out and have limited bathroom access!

At some point, purchase a portable potty.your vehicle is large enough to store it. You can use a number of times and then detach the bottom and dump into a regular toilet. The top part where you sit has water reservoir and hand pump. We used one for years in our small camper. You will never need to go outside the vehicle again. Rv supply stores or Amazon should have. I poured small amount of Rv waste treatment in lower holding tank. A portable toilet with flip up lid and seat that meets all needs. Take up the space of say a medium size cooler. Check them out.

Purchase a camping solar shower. Hang on truck to shower or rinse off. Walmart sells cheap buckets with toilet seat. We put trash bags in and use baby wipes when we dry camp. Just a that for not much money😊

One tip I would suggest is getting an Anytime Fitness membership. They are in a lot of places, and pretty much all of them have a clean bathroom and shower and air conditioning that you can go to whenever. If I were a traveler in the lower 48 that is definitely something I would have.

Glory, as a woman who has lived in a mini van, school bus, and a conversion van for the past five years, i would suggest you get a bowl or small bucket to pee in. You wont have to go outside your truck at all. Then dump it with your dish water by a tree. My husband and i have a bucket with a toilet seat and cover. Works great. 😊 God bless you.

Glory! Life/Van Hack for you and everyone. If you don’t have a shower. Two things: Swim in natural water and also WHITE VINEGAR, water , Spray bottle, Paper towels/rag. Mix should not NOT burn your skin. It feels SO REFRESHING. Sometimes I feel silly doing it, but you really don’t “Need” a shower/bath if you have Vinegar. I also wash my clothes and dishes with it. Cuts through all organics! Dishes: use spray bottle and paper towel as soon as you finish your meal. (Don’t let it dry up). Bon Voyage!

For peeing, get a sarong coverup. Either dark solid color or dark prints. When about to pee, wrap the sarong around you, tie it (loosely!) around your neck so it won't fall, then squat. If you're in a campsite with friends, you can pee almost anywhere because your body from the neck down will be covered by the sarong.

Hi Glory, can I give you a little peeing in the outdoors advice? Years ago I was just like you, had to find a tree to hide behind. About 10 years ago I discovered what I call, "My Pee Thing" and it has been life changing! You can literally stand like a man and pee, not only that, you are more covered than men can be. There are many brands, but I recommend the "Freshette" it has a hard plastic cup with an adjustable hose. Other brands are made of soft plastic and can collapse in your hand. It takes a bit of practice since we use different muscles when standing to pee (I practiced in the shower). It also took some time to get it right every single time (you will know what I mean if you decide to try it) Now I have one in every vehicle, my ice fishing bag, and both of my boats! It is a game changer in the life of women who spend a lot of time outdoors and around a lot of men! Good Luck and I have loved watching you van life.

There is a company named Byrna, they make a pistol that shoots pepper balls, it’s like pepper spray, but the balls have pepper powder in them. I’m a retired police officer and can tell you these pepper ball handguns are excellent, we have used a different brand on my department and watching people who get hit with one is impressive.

Do you ever hear about female funnel to pee stand up? Mostly use for hunting. Should be in hunting store or hiking store. Almost look like oil funnel to put oil in the engine but scaled down to smaller for women to use. Just rinse the funnel after use it like men do. Super easy than square down.

I believe that the assumption of Glory's vote for Trump is not too accurate.
