When installing self stick items like LED lights, spray contact cement on the trailer where the lights will mount, let dry. Stick the self stick tape to the contact cement and your lights won't fall down over time. Stronger, longer bond💪👊
@fillupread3 жыл бұрын
I suggest you install a marine or deep cycle battery inside the trailer, remove the brake battery and let your vehicle charge the marine battery. You can add a small solar panel on the roof to act as a battery tender for the marine/deep cycle battery. You can run LED interior lights for weeks off one of those.
@davidfrank28243 жыл бұрын
Absolutely love the way the LED lights worked out. I have the same size trailer and the only lights it has are the two up on the roof of the trailer. They do work for what we do with the trailer. 99% of the time if we are pulling the trailer it's because our bikes are inside and we're heading to a motorcycle event. And normally no matter where we go whenever we stop day or night I get out and make sure the bikes are secure. I absolutely love all the light those LEDs have. So I just added an item to my list to do whenever winter is over. On your roof problem if you Google or stop by a camping world store or any store that has campers and accessories there's a special tape to use. You can get it I believe it's in three five and nine inches wide. And when you put that up on the roof the rest of that roof would rust off before that tape would ever come up. The best thing about it is that you can use it on just about any roof on campers or trailers. The sticky side really bonds itself to the roof. And the longer it's up there stronger it gets. I've had a couple of friends that's had that on their roof for 10 years and still have no issues. It's a nice thing to carry also just in case you have a run-in with a tree branch. I really thought it was adorable when you had your son there with you. It really put a big smile on my face remembering my two when they were little. So any father who has their adorable son in a video I definitely had to hit like and subscribe. I'd like that red look of your trailer. You just don't see those that often. It's usually white or black or the places I go throw in some Harley Orange. Thank you for the great information and that was a brilliant idea of using the breakaway battery to turn on the lights in the trailer when you're not up to your toe vehicle.
@LifeofBliss3 жыл бұрын
Thanks man, I'll definitely check out that tape! There's a few rivets that had a small drip leak when it rained and the seam sealer worked well for those and the other areas so far, but that tape would be great to throw in there in case something happens. Those lights are a game changer for being able to see at night. Definitely add it to your list. The sticky backing didn't hold in a few areas, but those tiny clips have held them in place with zero issue, so definitely grab those. I try to throw my son in there whenever I can, he loves watching himself later! Have a great weekend!

I have a small 8-ft trailer I'm converting into a little mini camper and they hooked my 12-volt up straight to the four prong connector so I have to keep my running lights on in order to use the 12 volt in the trailer. I'm thinking of just disconnecting that light and installing a battery somewhere and running a new wire just so I can use it without the running lights. Any thoughts :-) mine's so small that I don't need a seven-prong connector

I’m not overly technical. Got myself cargo trailer 16 feet and V nose I see need for both white snd red lights I wad was wondering about 2 strips down the sides I have this astronomy habit When out at nite We use red lights to protect our night vision Would it be simpler for me to use 120 lights off an inverter hooked to a deep cycle? With blue tooth and portable wifi solutions we could run the scopes and camera outside while keeping warnish snd watching on the computer. No doubt I will someday have to punch a hole in the wall for Heater Exhaust and freed air intake

This may be a dumb question about the lights. Mine has a light which only operates when connected to the truck. Can I take the wire going to the switch and connect it to a battery then connect it to the switch. Basically putting the battery in-line. Will the battery charge from the truck so when I turn my vehicle off lights still operate inside?
@LifeofBliss2 жыл бұрын
That's what I was hoping to do. You can, but that battery is for the emergency braking system most likely. You could wire it up to run the lights though
@DeafDiver3 жыл бұрын
You say try to figure how to keep the electricity running. What about adding a solar panel to the roof of your trailer? By the way, what is a plan to use the trailer for? I'm thinking about grabbing one myself for a mini camper and storing scuba gear. I could go scuba and sleep in the same trailer without setting up the tent.
@LifeofBliss3 жыл бұрын
We used it for relocating about 4 hours away. Took about 4 trips, here's a video on it if you were interested kzbin.info/www/bejne/qqCXY2h9pZiXnq8 Solar would be kind of a cool option, but would also probably be more expensive than I'd want to spend for how much we use it. I'll probably just route the power wire directly to that battery since those LEDs draw such little power. It would charge when we have it connected to a vehicle
@justinvillarino27972 жыл бұрын
How do you wire in the LED lights to the switch. I just did the same thing after watching your video however, my lights stay on as long as my headlights/running lights are on. As soon as I turn them off the LEDs go with them. But the dome light inside the trailer still works on and off using the switch.

e-track wasn’t even on my Top 10 Things I was thinking about doing to get my 8x14 on the road, nor the LED lighting. Both are great ideas. Thanks too for the heads up on the screw lengths. I use those for work, but no the 2+” variety. The LED’s turned out great, look forward to adding those as well. You’ve given me enough good info to keep me busy for a couple weekends. I owe you a PBR next time you’re in Atlanta. (22 oz can of course)
@LifeofBliss3 жыл бұрын
Dude, LEDs are a must. Those dinky lights they have don't do anything. And those leds are super cheap, so for about $50 you can light up that thing! And depending on what you're using the trailer for, e-track is a pretty amazing products. You'll never run out of places to tie down. Its a bit expensive to do the whole thing like I did, but shop around. Amazon is 2x the price of some other places that specialize in cargo trailer supplies. And does PBR come in a smaller size?? Just seems wrong if so 😉 good luck on the trailer!

I forgot to ask. When time permits, could you give me a brand name and size to replace the door seals.
@LifeofBliss3 жыл бұрын
I just went on Amazon and bought some fairly cheap seals. Mone were 1/2 inch x 1/2 inch. That was ok for the side door, but I would go bigger for the main back door. At least a 3/4 inch strip or bigger. You'll need the extra thickness to get a good seal

Thanks for showing us those COOL LED lights! I’ve used them on my 2 meter RC Plane's wings creating quite the effect! I’m wanting to do the same for my trailer but wanted to ask you if that might be too much light? It looks like u used 2 (16.4’)strips of the LED’s? Do you think u cud have gotten away with just one side of the trailer? I may do that or try to install a dimmer to them which I’d have to find out if possible. Thanks!
@LifeofBliss3 жыл бұрын
Correct, I used 2 of the 16 ft strips. As far as too much light? Nah. In my opinion, the more light the better. Strips on each side help light up the opposite sides of the trailer. If it were just 1 side, underneath the lights would be as bright. The strips a cheap so might as well do both! Have a good one!

That small battery is for your electric brakes only. if that little battery is dead and your trailer becomes detached from the truck while underway you could kill someone or cause property damage as those brakes will not deploy in such an emergency. As tempting as it is to use that little battery for coach power don't your better off installing a separate 12 volt battery for off truck lighting use.
