if a person that knows nothing sees this they will hopefully have wire in the bug out bag. anything is better than nothing. I've trapped pests with double over wire from the dollar store. made the loop with a pencil. it works. thanks much for sharing

GOOD idea but in the real world that's poor wire to use asa snare. rabbit and even squirrels well break that wire in minutes. How long you want to hold your catch. five min or less. or till you get there. get some real snares

But how would this even work? Animals aren't retarded, they won't just walk through a random metal loop with a spike on them. It will see it, and think, "This is usually not here, I should avoid it." Then it will smell it, and think, "This was made by a predator, I should leave now."

Casey Ferguson non-locking snares can actually b used effectively. They are the only legal form of snare in the uk

How do you think old school farmers and hunters used to make snares 30 years or so ago? This will work just fine. It will strangle the animal before they can break free.

Casey Ferguson...no- it won't lock, but 99% of the time...the animal pulls hard enough to pull a somewhat of a bend. That generally doesn't let the snare open up, plus the animal will b pulling away from the snare which won't allow it to open anyway. This kind of wire has been used for so long...it works or it wouldn't b used by so many for so long.

Jon Morgan brass solid picture wire about 0.6-0.8mm worked well enough on rabbits when I was in college 96-98 caught dozens on a golf course surrounded by farms, they never escaped the figure 8 loop especially if the wire was set to coil like an assisted snare.
