For the B3 boilers there is a thermostatically controlled mixer valve available which bolts to the boiler itself. The added benefeit is that you use much less hot water from the boiler as you mix in cold water in with the hot water from the boiler to end up with a moderately heated water you can use at the taps in the boat. To illustrate I shall do a little calculation to illustrate my point: 40 Liters of hot (say 90 degrees C) water heated by the engine can become 90 Liters of little (too) warm (about 45 degrees C) water from the tap using 50 Liters of cold water from the tank (assuming the cold water is about 5 degrees C). Obviously it does not matter at all where you mix the cold water in but from the boilers point of view the amount of hot (90 degrees C) water being pushed out of the insulated boiler is much more because the mixing is being done at the taps... also the hot water pipes (probably not insulated) loose their heat very quickly and a lot more water needs to be pushed around to get any usable warm water at the taps. Best to have the mixing done at the boiler to conserve hot water from the boiler, cold water to be wasted waiting for the water getting warm at the taps and also for safety, hot pipes and the risk of getting extremely hot water coming from the tap is just not very safe... The automatic mixer valve kit is about 100-120 Euros and fits the boiler very well...

Great video! Thanks for sharing. Quick question: the Quick 1200w Heating Element F/B3 comes with two gaskets. One is larger and flat, and the other is round and smaller in diameter. Do you use both gaskets or just the larger flat gasket for model B3 40L?

Same question here. Did you find out yet?

Use one or the other. I made that mistake the first time I changed mine and put both in.. thinking the more the better. Got water everywhere! I guess they put two in depending on the design of the housing. From memory I think used the flat one.

True.. that pipe wrench doubles up for a lot of jobs but one slip could cause a lot of problems :/. I’m just working on a tools and consumable checklist atm but getting the feeling that if you carried everything you’d need to be towing a workshop barge behind the boat to store everything!
