Last thing if I may, be aware that you might feel numb in the scar region FOR MONTHS, I was getting worried and scared because I still felt numb after a whole year... It is completely normal.

I've had 4 sections. My number one piece of advice is... Don't try to be wonder woman. It's OK to rest. If you need help, ask for it. Accept help when offered even if it's your annoying mother in law. A short nap is worth it. Also, the laundry can wait and your family can eat take out, tv dinners, or PB&J while you heal.

LOL I had a c-section with my daughter the statement no lifting over 10 pounds cracked me up. I had the C-section because my daughter was over 10 pounds.

I ended up with an infection in my C-section because my nurse removed my bandages and catheter with no gloves on. There’s a few other things that I won’t mention that were so much worse. Needless to say we didn’t pay for my son’s birth or my stay. The charge nurse said “gloves are for the nurse’s protection”. My husband is a nurse and his jaw dropped. He said proper gloving was the very first thing they learned in clinical.

I wish I had some I’d this advice 16 years ago. My c section recovery was aweful. I had a hematoma erupt from my incision and went back to the er to get it opened, irrigated and packed. Luckily my mom was a practicing RN at the time and she could do my daily dressing change. That was such a long recovery.

I was informed that a c-section maybe required since I had a laparoscopic myomectomy. I cried because I dreamed of always having a water birth. Now I’m okay long as the delivery goes smoothly. This is good to know, when I get pregnant.

The two tips I always give about C-section recovery is (1) get up and walk as soon as you're allowed & walk as much as you can and (2) only sit in chairs with arms for a while after to avoid using those core muscles to stand.
@nm6857
@nm6857 5 ай бұрын
I disagree with walking ASAP & as much as you can. It is ok to minimize movement & to rest. It feels like your abdomen will rip open so it is best to rest & let it heal. There is no need to power through a deep wound.
@LilliesforSeverus
@LilliesforSeverus 4 ай бұрын
@@nm6857 “As much as you can” could definitely turn into overdoing it, but walking ASAP and frequently does help reduce the risk of blood clots forming in your legs (a very real risk after any surgical procedure). Everything is a balance. The body absolutely needs rest to heal. Overdoing it will set you back. But the body also needs movement to heal and stay healthy.

1st c-section I was a rock star like I did it 1,000 times. 2nd one, I healed fine. Everything was fine. Post partum depression NO JOKE!! Don’t struggle in silence. Ask for help. I asked for help and he said I was crazy. I was divorced a year later.

I could have used this advice 20 yrs ago. Instead, i got: oh, your incision looks a little red. Heres some antibiotics & was released from hospital. (Basically shoved out the door.) Not even 72 hrs later i was rushed back to the hospital. almost died due to infection 😔

Don’t forget after your 6 weeks to do scar massage to avoid adhesions and lack of mobility! And pelvic floor PT! I recently started pelvic floor PT and she said my incision was one of the best healed she’s ever seen and asked if I did the massages. Seriously a few minutes a day could prevent issues in the future ❤

They have these heat/cold packs with gel beads in them for your lower back that you can strap on. i used those for last 2 c sections omg helped with pain sooo much! The pressure of it holding my stomach and the warm heat or ice cold helped with the pain sooo much

Im pregnant with my second child, and very excited. I had a vaginal birth with my first, but if I have a C-section this time, any tips on how to deal with my toddler? He still needs to be picked up from time to time (car seat, bathtub, etc) and he obviously weighs more than 10lbs. What ahould i do?
@mamanursetina

I mean you have to live still but if you can surround yourself with a village of helpers that's what I would do. Maybe also look into postpartum compression garmets to keep pressure on that incision for support in case you forget and grab onto your toddler without thinking about it.

Tina, when having a c-section, is it possible to ask for an incision down the linea alba instead of a transverse incision? I'm more thinking about the watershed lines of the lymphatic system, and i honestly don't care about scarring. They're cool. No, not pregnant, but I'm someone who has both manual lymphatic drainage training and who wants to become pregnant one day.

As someone who has had both an exploratory laparotomy and a traditional Caesarian… I just want to throw out there that vertical abdominal incisions are *significantly* more painful to heal from than transverse incisions… I’m talking the difference between being on a morphine drip for two days versus needing one or two Percocet.
