Regarding your PCV system. I checked/cleaned/replaced my system in the spring of '19. This also included removing and checking/cleaning the oil separator box. I was very surprised to see how clean the box was on a B230F engine with 430,000 kilometers. It was virtually as good as new. I guess sometimes you get lucky!

Just got done flushing mine out yesterday, It wasn't that bad, a little condensation goop in the very top of it. But one of the connection hoses was pretty stuffed. 😀

Great video and great channel! Complete novice thinking of pulling my B230FT on my recently purchased 945 as it needs a refresh and there's no better way to learn than to pull it out. Wondering if you have a manual or specific resource you'd recommend to help me with figuring it all out. I've found lots of useful info on forums/youtube but you tend to have to already know what you're looking for to find it. Keep up the videos!

Thanks, i agree with you there. The best way is just to do it an try to learn from it. No I dont have any specific manual but try to stick with the Volvo greenbooks (orginal sevice manual) I think that the haynes and so on is a bit too general at times. There is one site that lists a few of the greenbooks, but some of them are in Swedish tho. www.v8volvo.se/mekartips/volvo/140-240-260/_140-240-260.html

Yet another good example. Been looking for any vid content from you swedes in english language sometimes is a pain. It is very very helpful. Seems like the B230 is equivalent to the chevy V8 here in america. As a Volvo owner of many this is the first where I seen a front block off for the radiator as I am thinking this is due to the cold over there. Have not seen this in the states. Is it a factory part? Good job 👏 with the example as I never thought about ease of the wiring harness removal as I always take it from the motor. I'm gona give it a go next time. Thanks for all you do...

The front block off might be a cold wether application, but iam not sure about that one. All I know is that does come stock on this particular model anyways. Thank you for the comment 👍

Good morning my friend. Watching your video as i prepare yo head to a junkyard to remove 2 940s engines to hopefully put together a solid turbo engine for my 245. Is there anything you could add in relation to lessening the time spent in junkyard? I will be pulling the engine, transmission, driveshaft. I believe because my 240 is a 92, the hatness from the NA b230 in the car just needs mild modification (and the turbo ecu) as far as i know? Im hoping its that simple
@BackmansGarage Жыл бұрын
It should be pretty straight forward removing the engine, I would start with the driveshaft and work my way forwards. Regarding the harness I would try to keep as much of the stock b230fk/ft as you can, I can't say how many more wires there are but it's enough that you will save alot of time just pulling out as much of the harness as you can. 👍

@4:22 I noticed something hat confuses me: Your battery poles are the other way around? Stock, The ground pole is located to the left side of the car, and the +12V pole towards the middle of the car. Did you mount a reverse polarity battery on purpose? (and why?)

Not something that i have put any thought to actually. But maybe you are right, ill try to check it out next time im working on it if i can remember it.

Grym video Backman!

Is it necessary to remove the trans with engine or can you unbolt it from the bell housing?
@BackmansGarage3 жыл бұрын
No it is not necessary, however the bellhousing is one with the gearbox and i just like to remove everything with such limited space under the car since i am only on jackstands 👍
