I love KZbin. Thank you very much. We were in a tight spot for a birthday dinner and our seat wouldn't go down. Unfortunately my seat doesn't have a zipper but the cable was in the same location.

Not sure why they got rid of the zipper with so many failures of this device. But glad that I could help you get it fixed. Mine was broken from the initial test drive and the dealer had no idea and once I fixed it it has never come loose again in 5 + Years.

Thank bro. My seat has been in the up position for about 3 months. I always have tools in there so I haven’t researched its repair method much because I’ve rarely needed to lower it. But now that I know how, I’ll fix that bad boy tomorrow. 👍🏼👍🏼

Terry Bird, glad that you saw the video and got it fixed. What a simple little flaw. The salesman when I bought mine was baffled that it was already stuck in the UP position. RIght after the test drive I made this video before even buying the truck.

The seat isn’t in my garage to check today but I don’t think there is a down LOCK position it is just Gravity holding it down

Mine doesn't lock when it goes down. It does however lock when it is in the up position.

The Rear Seats, on the Super Crews, there isn’t a Locking Mechanism in the Down Position. Just the weight of the seat, and whoever is sitting on it. A least it’s that way on my 2017.

It doesn’t lock down it is gravity that holds it down.

I have not seen a leather seat personally so not positive how to fix it, but I bet the leather seats don't have a zipper and instead have a bunch of straps so that they leather can be pulled taught to get it onto the seat. So take a look for that and then you can gain access to the cable that releases the seat.

So I am doing mine to I know you have to release the hatch from the back and the whole seat should fold down, there is also a plastic peice that slides out by the metal peice where the cable hooks onto

This really sucks the 2011 XLT doesn't have the zipper. :/

They must have added the zipper since the linkage comes off so often but just fixing the linkage would have been a better solution.

i have the 2017 xlt and no zipper, but i looked everywhere and never noticed that freakin latch and didn't want to deal; i only use this to let dog jump in truck so lifesaver, thanks dude. i'll find a way to fix cable later just glald to have flat back seat again (2 months)
