Great video! I did get my hopes up slightly, though. $1,895 isn’t really my definition of budget. I get that the machine offers a lot at that price, and I think it’s a fair price, but you can get a Bezzera Unica with flow control for $1,600. Not sure if Bezzera is widely available in Australia, though.

I looked very closely at this machine some 2-3 months ago and have the DF54. Nobody was able to help me, even when they had the machine advertised on their online store & I called or sent emails Two stores that had it advertised actually said they'd not seen it, it's just up on their web page to order. That's not helpful. So, I went down another path at a similar price point. I'm happy with my decision, but now seeing an actual review/demo I'd likely have been happy with the pop up. The other issue that held me back was there's a similar machine quick mill pop that's ~$100 less. I preferred this purely based on aesthetics (position of the switches), but naturally wanted to know the difference. Again, nobody was able to help. It needs to be said that I explored all avenues that had this or one of the two machines advertised. That's quite a few stores! Cheers!
@alwaystired42802 ай бұрын
While the Pop Up is a boiler machine, the Pop uses a thermoblock. That might be the only difference.

@@ArtistiCoffeeRoasters I was looking out here... I'm not sure now if I called you, given I called everybody that had it advertised. If you did, then I'd have called and would have been given literally no info. Some stores don't even have a number to call (most unusual for a business) & it's email back and forward. Not encountered this in any other industry. And it seems, other than fishing I get sucked into most. Guitars, fountain pens, coffee etc etc Anyway, not my place to tell a business how they should operate, but as a consumer I found those businesses without any form of number most annoying. I'll even call out one that requires a booking to make a call. Craziness & I did not bother, but they didn't sell this quick mill machine anyway. I enjoyed this demo/review as per my initial comments. I'm merely lamenting the industry here generally in regards to this particular product, not any other issue. Hopefully this demo alone will assist other potential buyers. As for me I went down a totally different route in the end. Hx e61 machine... I always fancied a lever rather than switch/button, but as per initial comments above I'd likely have been happy with this machine also, keeping in mind I mostly make just 1 long black before work and more on the weekend. Cheers.

@@ArtistiCoffeeRoasters The other difference is the group head, Pop uses Quick Mills own filter basket( You cant use any third party baskets, they cap at 14 gram baskets) and the Pop-up uses E61 (You can use any basket you like).

Is it true that you shouldn't turn the pressure valve during an extraction? A few days ago, I was at a shop and they told me that in Quickmill's manual, it is forbidden to turn the pressure valve during an extraction. Is it true? The guy at a shop told me it is the same as with the ECM Puristika and should only be changed before the extraction. Now, I'm a bit confused!!

@DeferFuncClose2 ай бұрын
@@stephan3077 I know for a fact that heat up time is going to be quite a bit shorter. I think the biggest disadvantage is that the steam power is not going to be as strong as what you saw in this video. I think that if multiple people drink espresso in your house, a boiler could be nice, you could have it in eco mode and it should be very hot on demand. I live alone and I drink 1-2 pure espressos early in the morning, after that, the machine is going to be turned off until perhaps late in the afternoon for a decaf. I believe in this case, a thermoblock makes more, especially because I don't make milk drinks often.
