My neighbor Joe called me to check out his Seiko SPB179 Ice Sumo with sapphire dial and 70-hour power reserve. I wanted you guys to see the ice waffle dial. He says he's getting the green Captain Willard next.

Hi Jeff, hope you and the family are all good fella ? That sumo must be rare because I've not seen one in the UK. Looks a nice piece , but I've been looking at too many watches lately. This covid 19 thing is making me do crazy things, and I'm tempted to sell all my watches off and start again. The one perfect watch , but what does that actually mean, I just don't know anymore !!! I'm still enjoying my cook , and my 051, and my rado original diver, but I wonder should I simply sell them off and get just one piece ? But even then, I know , I won't be truly happy, or would I ???

Waffle dials just don't do it for me. I can't see the attraction, id rather just have a flat dial. Quite interesting how the engineer neighbour gets the Sumo. The Sumo case is pretty special. Might have to get one of the old gen models before they go.

Beautiful watch, just to big for my 7 1/4" wrist. Especially the lug to lug. 52 mm is ridiculously big.

@@JeffreyMcMahon Yes, I agree Mr. McMahon, Captain Willard dimensions are perfect. Cannot say the same about the price. A little pricey for a 6R movement. I am tempted to try out the Captain Willard made by Rdunae sold by WR watches for approx $200 U.S. Apparently they are really well made with an NH35 movement. It would go against my morals, but can you blame me with such a difference in price.
