Oilers fan here but my anyone who is mad at watching this series doesn’t appreciate sports. Win or lose it CANNOT get any bigger or exciting than this - we are talking about a guaranteed Game 7 SCF between two teams that hate each other after one team has somehow stormed back from 0-3 to try to make history not done since World War 2…..this is the beauty of sports! Of course I want my Oilers to win but if they don’t we the consumers still win by witnessing such an amazing and exciting series. Florida is still a great team and shouldn’t be slept on. As the two analysts said here they play well with their backs against the wall and this is no guaranteed win for Edmonton. Win or lose, kudos to both teams for playing their hearts out. No matter what happens on Monday WE will all be the winners of this. Having said that…..Go Oilers Go!

This is very simple. The Oilers have just figured out the Panthers forecheck and are taking advantage. They've used the overextension of the Panthers forecheck against them. The Panthers will have to decide whether to continue with their offensive style that requires pressure and forcing turnovers or sitting back in the neutral zone to prevent Edmonton rushes. The Oilers can always increase their effort, but the Panthers can't find more skill.

I’m going to give Greg his flowers because those of us who are oilers fans and who have watched every game for decades knew that the issue with Woodcroft was one of an offensive and defensive system that got exposed badly by Cassidy from game 4 on in last season’s playoff loss to Vegas. In the offseason Woodcroft did try to implement a more zonal approach and he couldn’t do it and it was the catalyst for their poor start. Jackson and Holland identified it early and made the move for Knoblauch. It was a big gamble but regardless of what happens going forward the oilers now have a defensive identity that didn’t exist prior.

Because it is a script. The NHL directs the refs to sway each game the desired decision. The question is this: is more money made on bets from a 7 game series or just on this last game. If gambling sites & Vegas lose more money from bets on Florida if Edmonton keeps winning or if enough people now bet that the Oilers will win over the Panthers then Florida will be favored by the refs so they make their money. The game is real and players are playing. It is just steered towards the desired outcome with a few calls & no calls. It's just entertainment! Enjoy!

Oilers outplayed and outchanced Panthers in 2 of the first 3 games. Problem was they couldn't beat Bob because they kept shooting low, and trying to bang it in with traffic in front. Thing is you can't beat him down low. Game 4 almost all of those 8 goals were up high blocker or gloveside. And they realized that's how you beat him. Oilers had double the Grade A scoring chances that florida had going by game 4. Oilers finished 10th in the league in fewest goals against. And they allowed like 50 goals in their 1st 10 games. Next 70 games they were the best defensive team in the league. Florida #2. They also finished 4th in Goals for but #1 after the last 70. And that's before the coaching change. Why not talk about everything the Oilers are doing. The last 3 games were not even CLOSE. The first 3 games only the 2nd was dominated by the Panthers.

It's the biggest comeback not the biggest collapse. Florida still florida. Bob still good just the Oilers have been better. It all comes down to one game nothing is settled yet. Game 7 gonna be epic! Go oilers!

It’s not like the panthers goal was a game winner in OT or go ahead goal or even tying goal. Who knows if they would have scored again to tie it after. These guys are talking as if they had a game winner get called back

With the right angle view, the offside call was correct. It looked like an inch, maybe a bit more or less, but it was not a ghost call. It was really an offside and the refs had the technology to see it. They isn’t have to guess, it was there to see. It was a tough call for the Panthers that were struggling to get something positive that they could build on, absolutely. But it was real, so there’s no point in ragging on the refs or the rules. It was the right call to make. Otherwise, your argument is that it was close enough that the refs should have made the wrong call…which could have happened without the technology to make the right call.

Greg, you should of stuck to your guns since you called the Oilers to win the Cup prior to the season start. You never should of said that the Panthers will win game 6. Bad on ya for that Greg, feel shame ;). See you on the next morning show with Dusty next week :)

Odds still favour the Panthers. Oilers might have a let down after levelling the series. The game could go either way easily.

However, the encore will be before 2024 Game 7's NHL Stanley Cup Finals between the Edmonton OIlers vs. Florida Panthers for most of the U.S. country, but in the Pacific Time Zone and west coast, the 2019 NHL Stanley Cup Finals encore will re-air Game 7 of the 2019 NHL Stanley Cup Finals between the St. Louis Blues vs. Boston Bruins after Game 7 of the 2024 NHL Stanley Cup Finals between the Edmonton Oilers and the Florida Panthers.

It’s a little bit of both. Choke and resilience and taking advantage of “tightness” on behalf of the Panthers. By the way I live in Ft Lauderdale we were planning for parades down Las Olas “Pff” SMH. Man oh man. This town is shook! This is gonna crush our organization if we lose this series.

So if the goal by florida would have counted to make it 2-1, the game would have been different?? Why?? Yes, there might have been a little different, but the Oilers were leading at home and playing very well. Grasping at straws guys....just let the players decide it and if goals are offside or goalies stand on their heads....so be it.

Something is Oily…I mean fishy with this series…what super secret angle did the Oilers have on that offsides call? I will say this. I don’t think it will happen, but if the Panthers get the lead, the Oilers will panic and vice versa. First goal could end up being 1-0 for either team or another 5-1 defeat and a cup for the Oilers. Why not start the other goalie? You can always put Bob in. Oilers took away rush game so I would just dump and chase.
@billcarruth81226 ай бұрын
The offside wasn't a pivot moment. It could have become a pivot moment, but Florida was clearly going to lose this game, and lacking a rule breaking goal they could pivot on they continued on to lose. Assuming it would become a pivot moment is also assuming the Oilers would have given up on the Stanley Cup just because their lead was reduced by one goal. Yeah ok.

The offside goal isn't going to be talked about for a while lmao. Oilers would have likely still have won. They still put 3 in. 5 by the end. Acting like the disallowed goal changed the series is silly.
