1 min into the video and i already love the education being given here. No other instructor I've come across has stressed the importance of self-expression in the way we use our tools, as you have. What you said touched ny heart as someone who considers themselves a "copy artist" fundamentally because of this reason. Thank you. I wished I had focused on this aspect more, sooner into my journey.

Can you do a tip video on how to how color temperature moves across left to right as well as from top to middle of flowering trees that are partly in light and partly in shadow ? I’m confused.
@IntheStudioArtInstruction5 жыл бұрын
Candace, I'll see if I can put together a Tip that will clarify this. The warm/cool thingy can get confusing. One thing that might help is that any color, regardless of its inherent temperature (i.e. yellow-warm, blue-cool) will change according to the kind of light and its location to the direction of light. The change in temp of a flowering tree will be determined by the location of the sun, whether left to right, right to left or top to bottom.

Thank you for all your instructional videos! So much appreciate them!! Question: can you share brushstroke techniques for painting evergreens/conifers like pine, cedar and hemlock?
@IntheStudioArtInstruction2 жыл бұрын
Shannon, I usually look at the image and ask "what do I know a brush will do to create that shape or texture. Try splaying the bristles of an old bristle brush, dipping the tips into the paint and placing just the tips to the canvas, give it a slight press and a flip in the directions you see the evergreen needles moving. I will put your request on our filming schedule, but there are so many ahead of yours plus we film these weeks in advance, so it won't appear until November or December.

Hello from Norfolk UK :) Just watched this and I love your suggestion that we find our own favourite strokes, rather than striving to copy other artists' strokes. I am, however, really struggling at painting a simple FINE long stem, such as seen on a lavender plant. I feel like it should be so simple, yet I just can't get it right, no matter what brush I use it keeps turning out too thick! I'm using acrylic enamels (on glass) and any suggestions or instructions would be so very very much appreciated please...thank you :) x
@IntheStudioArtInstruction4 жыл бұрын
I'm not familiar with the techniques of enamels on glass, but I do know that if you use a flat brush on it's tip, you can get a thin line. I show that in Quick Tip 287 where I show three essential brushstrokes. Hope this helps.
