One reason I love your videos is because they translate into other media (I mainly do acrylics). So basic, basic! I am relying on some of your basics videos to help me understand how to teach my beginners (adult) art class. Thank you!

Hi Dianne, I have actual ADD and have trouble figuring out how to tackle some things. You have given me the best plan for painting lots of foliage and trees. I get overwhelmed by all of the details and tend to lose my place. The colors tend to be too similar and it just becomes a blob with sticks coming out of it. Thank you for another wonderful quick tip! Hugs, Julie 🥰

Thank you for helping us to understand or discover our common fault. My fault and challenge was mostly focusing on details, that's why i couldn't dare to spend time on my painting works. The idea is to beginning from shadows and lights in general 😌🤲🙏👍🙂

Thanks for the interesting technique, Dianne. I don't suspect I'll have a problem doing the exercise with tombow and q-tip-water removal. What, however, do I do for the lift--out in the oil paint version, since I am allergist to solvents? I'd be most grateful for your advice. Carol
@IntheStudioArtInstructionАй бұрын
Carol, if you are allergic to solvents, then the oil version won't work for you. Try water mixable oils mixed with water. I recommend the Cobra brand.
@warmteacosyАй бұрын
Yes, my Mum uses that brand of water mixable oils and they're good. 👍

This video was so helpful thank you! Can you please share the two brushes you have used? I ordered some from Rosemary, but they were way too soft for my liking. I wanna order the right ones next time around. I appreciate your guidance.
@IntheStudioArtInstructionАй бұрын
The brushes are Rosemary Series 274.
@chayita7Ай бұрын
Dianne, I really like the painting procedure you use to produce the appearance of a dense forest rich in foliage. Wouldn't it be possible for me to do the exercise with a Tombow pen (the lift-out with water) --- then paint over it with regular oil paint? Does this sound doable to you? Thank you so much, as always, for your clear input. Carol.
@IntheStudioArtInstructionАй бұрын
Yes, Carol. That will work.

This was so helpful! Could you show us how to do the foliage in more detail?
@IntheStudioArtInstructionАй бұрын
Linda, if you begin with the values and colors you see in light and shadow, then within each of those areas, find the variations in each value and color, then look for edges within those, you will have the foliage in detail. The trick is not to look for foliage, but look for values, colors and edges.
