I never get enough of this guy. Bought one of his FX course on blender and learned plenty ! Plenty of ways of putting my computer to its knees :P So many things to mix in the sauce ! Thanks !

Thank you Midge:) I thought some guys are creative with Blender until I've found your channel! I can relate as I don't like modeling and sculpting. I get bored really quick. I love sci-fi art, using modifiers and all that! I enjoy motion graphics and animation. I am going to buy your course right now after I finish writing this. I don't think I have seen anything that comes close to what you do. I absolutely love it! The only people that do this kind of work are using C4D and give tutorials respectively. Funny that many C4D users wish for you to do tutorials in C4D:) I actually think there's more C4d sci-fi art and tutorials than for Blender users. Thanks again, you got yourself a lifetime subscriber!

Is there a way we can combine these textures like textures in shader nodes. Pardon if my question is very basic .
@MidgeSinnaeve6 жыл бұрын
Not yet, if everything goes according to plan, the texture system should be unified in Blender 2.8 and it will make all of that possible.
@boudewyn6 жыл бұрын
This doesnt seem to be working with 2.8, right?
@MidgeSinnaeve6 жыл бұрын
There's a bug where the modifier stack doesn't update when you change the texture currently but it does work. There's two ways to quickly see the result. Either just hit tab twice to go in and out of edit mode and it'll be updated. Or make an empty and use that as the coordinate object and it'll update if you move it around. I'm gonna try and make a bug report this week to get it fixed. :)

I know I'm a bit late to the party....lol. Anyway, with v2.82.7 I found a nasty bug with the Inverse button on the Mask. It 'seems' to work until you animate then some frames glitch out nasty. Thanks for the tutorial, big fan Midge!
@asylumlabs60754 жыл бұрын
take it back, i'm getting odd glitching even when Vertex Group mask is NOT reversed. Objects just fly away for a frame or two, then come back. Anyone know what this is?
@MidgeSinnaeve4 жыл бұрын
If you can reproduce the problem, file a bug report to get it fixed. You can click "Report a Bug" from the help menu. :)

Hey, this could be used to control hair particle systems with image textures, could it not?
@MidgeSinnaeve7 жыл бұрын
In the particle system settings, you can actually assign textures (at the bottom) to control stuff. From size and density to more advanced things.
@aleistergein1147 жыл бұрын
It actually occurred to me upon second viewing that you're using *Blender* textures, not Cycles textures. That's what I meant: as far as I'm aware there is no way to use, say, the output of a MixRGB node to control a hair particle system.
@MidgeSinnaeve7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, they're still separated indeed. A workaround be be to unwrap the model and bake the procedural texture out of Cycles and re-import it as an image (sequence). That's the only way I know of to link them.

Adjusting the vertex weight curve crashes Blender every time for me. This is with the 2.8 May16 build.
@MidgeSinnaeve5 жыл бұрын
Might be a bug then, report it if you can recreate the issue. Have you tried resetting your preferences? That can help if you;re using the beta for a while.

@@MidgeSinnaeve Thanks for the reply. Finally found that it only happens when in edit mode, everything worked fine in object.

@@MidgeSinnaeve Is there any plugin to fix this?
@MidgeSinnaeve3 жыл бұрын
@@hameddesign70 Unfortunately not, but Geometry Nodes enable remapping vertex weights to vertex colors, so you can kind of link the shading and the fx a little now, but advanced textures is still a dream. :)
