Very useful example! I think it hits on one of the hardest things to get used to coming from other CAD systems.

Great, more things I didnt know! Seems faster than my workflow. First Create a sketch on the paralelle and project the paralelle and the edge of the stopper to create the point. Second create a sketch on the bottom face of the part, project the part, extend 2 lines to create the edge point. Third use move copy and point to point and bring the vise to the part.

Perfect, exactly the sort of content we need. There are so many aspects to fusion that make it not so easy to discover. Thanks again. More please😊

Thanks for this! I’m always puzzled by the question about capturing or reverting position. I don’t understand what it is asking. Perhaps a video could address that sometime!

It is basically asking if you want to capture your move as a feature on the timeline.

I would have bumbled my way to a cobbled up half-solution... as I went, I would be muttering "Somebody should have made provision for this situation!" And, of course, there was an elegant answer there all along. 😜 👍 Thank you.

Every "Ah-Ha" moment comes from some bumbling that happened before that.

So much work when the joint command should just let you click various combinations of planes, lines, and/or points from any source to form joints. Seems like I have to go through multiple extra steps to not only manually define a constraint nexus point, but then go through even more extra steps later to de-constrain things if so desired. Joints are a lot of work to do a simple job like this; to the point that it's easier to just use align and ground for anything that is ultimately meant to be a static arrangement such as a piece of work in a vise.

Hi! Complete noob and amateur here :) I'd use another approach: use align to, well, align the components and then put an as-built joint to fix it in place. Also instead of joining origins I would just "ground" the base of the vise.

Fixing it in place does work. However, it means that if the model changes you don't get the benefit of parametric updates. Grounding has it's own set of challenges if you plan to insert this assembly into another one.

Am i the only one who thinks its stupid you cant control the final pass direction (climb or convention) with both ways enabled on a 2d pocket or 2d contour pass? Fusion thinks this is fine 😂 how stupid…. And why havent they fixed not being able to ad extension distance to all curves rather than having to go and select every single curve
