Don't ever think you're going too basic!! I've sung my entire life on stage, in choirs.. even semi-professionally. Never quite got it nailed, in fact I'm finding I had so many basics wrong! After 25 YEARS, I'll never stop learning new techniques. You're my favourite since I found you 5 years ago!!

I still remember the first time I heard myself as a senior in high school on a video recording. I was a bit shocked! lol My tip to share is just to get used to listening to yourself back. When I practice recordings, I listen back to see if the song is where I want it to be or what I want to change about how I'm singing it. I got over thinking my voice was strange, to me. Over time, and I think the more confident you are in hearing yourself the more you relax and have control in the moment.

I watched one video before this about not letting your throat and upper body take control of your natural voice and I got to say that it has helped so much. I cant pay for all the other great advice you have but I’m going to watch every video you have cause it has really inspired me. I used to be in advanced choir and my voice changed, ever since that I’ve had a sort of embarrassed stage of singing, I’m sure many can relate. I just want to thank you. This will be my second video and I already am all in. You’re a great teacher and I wish I can do more to help. If I ever get big I am going to fully acknowledge who helped me and do my best to help you. You’re amazing and thank you. Please keep these videos going because I’m 100% positive it’s actually inspiring people💯

My problem was that used to try to sing like other people, I stopped doing that but I’m still scared to record myself singing even though the voice I hear(non recorded) improved but I’m scared that if I record myself singing that I’m going to sound bad
@ericarceneaux5 жыл бұрын
I totally understand. Part of the journey for us vocalists is recording ourselves anyway, despite knowing that there's a chance we may not like what we hear. ...but ALSO knowing that there are countless ways to improve. One "bad" recording will not seal your fate forever. We can always learn and grow.

This is great wisdom, I recorded myself thinking I would sound fairly decent but no! I could clearly hear I was sort of ‘holding back’ though, even though ‘internally’ it didn’t sound like it - please note that I’m not saying sing louder, you can be shouting and still holding back! As Eric has said, you need to OPEN - not meaning force your mouth to open wider - that’s just force again! Without realising it we are sometimes singing as if we are driving a car pressing the accelerator and the brake at the same time, the solution is NOT to press the accelerator harder - that just creates more friction and makes it worse! The solution of course is to (dare to) let go of the brake

😭 Can you please make a video for help with Hypo-thyroid people? I really wanna learn how to sing!! But feel like I can't cos I was diagnosed with Hachimotos Disease/ Hypothyroidism this year and now I find everytime my immune system gets weak, my thyroid gland will swell up and my throat is painful. I found one video of hope online where the guy said it may be possible that training the voice can vibrate and help your thyroid gland over time release a little more hormone. But it is also something that I can't sing heavily in or I damage my voice even more. No one has made videos teaching how to sing dealing with hypothyroidism.. This throat swelling is all new to me, can you please make a video that could help people with hypothyroidism/how to manage to sing with that? Thanks

Hey Eric, thanks for the content you upload to help us budding singers... really grateful for them :) Just a small request could you do a warmup routine for baritone voice types... because you usually start your exercises with the C. I have a singing problem that I don’t understand. I know a lot of people who say they sound different everyday and that somedays they sound good and other days bad. Well, I have this problem but ten times worse. Most days in the month I can’t even sing the low songs because theyre to high (in my mind I can exactly imagine how I would hit the notes on my good vocal days. Then I have like 3 days in a month in a row, where I can sing songs like titanium, never enough without any effort. I also loose my voice very often. But last two weeks I was very lucky, I had my good vocal days for two entire weeks, never happened to me before. But why do I have this. I also have Some days that I can reach low and high notes, but then there is one, only one height I cant hit (somewhere in my middle/high notes). My voice cracks on that note even though I can sing the higher notes in the exact Same song. I love the days my voice sounds wonderful and can I sing my heart out. But those dont happen very often. I also have asthma and short breathness btw. Has it anything to do with my problem?
