Have been a Quicken user for years. First with the Mac version and then had to switch to the PC version, using an emulation program on my Macs, because the old Mac versions weren't kept up by Intuit. They put all their research and effort into the PC version for quite a few years. I have been hoping for years to be able to run Quicken directly on my Macs and am going to try the 2020 version to see if it works. With my subscription, I was able to download the Mac version and am trying it out. The PC data came through in the conversion better than it did a few years ago when I tried to convert. The investment part of Quicken is important to me, so I will have to see how it functions before I can decide to make the switch or not.

I had used Quicken for Windows for many years previously and now that I have a Mac, thought I would give Quicken for Mac a try. I am very disappointed when I compare my experience with Windows vs Mac version. I think the Windows version is so much easier to use and more intuitive.

agree wholeheartedly. I never understood why they (Intuit) don't just make a Mac version that's identical to the Windows edition, and running on Mac OS.

I agree completely. I even purchased VM Ware Fusion to run Windows on my MAC to use Quicken for Widows. I hoped that Quicken would improve it since they abandoned the platform in 2013.

Wish they'd have a full on web based option. That would be enough for me to switch from YNAB.

My main question is this! Will I be able to print out a monthly Reconciliation Report after finishing my monthly Reconciliation? The reason I’m asking is because I have a 2015 that doesn’t give me a proper Reconciliation Report & I need one for every month💁🏼‍♀️

Thank you for the review. I just switched from the Windows version to the Mac version. So far, it is fine for what it is, but the Windows version is way more versatile. But I will stick with the Mac version.

You’re right - the windows version is so much more versatile. Hopefully the Mac version catches up soon.

So I own a perpetual Quicken 2016 Premier license. In the transition to the new Quicken 2019 software, I understand requiring an update to continue using Easy Update - I don't understand requiring the upgrade to use the MANUAL TRANSACTION IMPORT capability. QFX hasn't changed in years - it's an artificially manufactured need for upgrade. Nope. Not gonna do it! Time to say goodbye to Quicken.

I have been a (PC) Quicken user since 1988, and I still have all the data using Quicken Deluxe for the PC.... of course split up into several consolidated years. I now have an Apple computer. As you have mentioned, the PC version seems to be much more robust. I do a lot of Direct Connect downloads, as well as detailed Categories, and some Tag use as well. I have many "saved" reports, and use not only Banks, Credit Cards, but Investments tracking as well. With investments, Cost Basis is very important to me. I think I may have convinced myself (along with watching this video), that I should stay with Quicken for the PC. That is the only thing holding me to a PC now. One question is, can the MAC version of Quicken import my PC Quicken File(s)? Will it maintain my Categories, Tags, Saved Reports, etc.?

I have not upgraded since Quicken for Mac 2007. I tried 2015 or 16 (I forget which year) and found that it did not handle mutual funds as well as 2007. It seemed to want to deal with them as a brokerage account, with the amount of cash in the final column. Totally useless when that amount is always zero. 2019 similar to 2007 in regards to mutual fund investments, or is it as dumb as 2015? I just was plain ordinary registers. Since I don't trust security, I have no need for syncing or downloading transactions. Everything is entered by hand. My main interest in that transfers occur easily between accounts, that I can create reports as in 2007 and that mutual funds show the number of shares. Is there a trial for this software?

are there any tutorials for quicken mac? ive never used financial planning / budget software, and its a bit confusing, trying to add my bills, income, mortgage and property asset value, i'm frustrated but really want to use this

Does quicken for mac have transaction sounds? In windows, it makes a sound when entering transactions. What about the mac version?

It has some sounds - but not the cash register when you enter a transaction. It does have a delete sound when you delete a transaction.

I have used quicken for a long time. However, I have not updated since 2007 as it has been very investment and online banking leaning and I don't want it for that. I do need all the reports and categories that the old quickens offer. SO my question is, aside from online banking and investing, and as a regular, lightweight sort of quickbooks- do you recommend any of the Quicken for Mac programs after 2007?

i have the same issue. I have run Quicken for Mac 2007 and also use Quicken 2016 for another family member. Need to upgrade my OS and am so hesitant to do so for fear of losing my Quicken 2007 data have hated the 2016 version for my personal financial needs. SO...in the last month , what did you choose to do? Thanks for your reply. :)

Hi there. Thanks for review. I’m wandering what you too pick for Freelancers and personal finance would be. I use Mac. Is there a good dual software or do I have to use quicken for personal and Quickbooks for business. Thanks in advance. Also why doesn’t quicken have home/business for Mac. Thanks again

I believe in keeping business and personal separate. I use Quickbooks for business, and Quicken for personal. I never mix accounts.

Windows quicken is 100% better but I have a MacBook. It sucks ass. I have the last license version and not the membership version witch is now the only option and stops working once it expires. Features where removed from the license version and added to the membership version. The app is a joke and never works. I will consider upgrading to the membership version if it innovates sufficiently
