I think he should be called Mr. Lei, Lei is more likely to be the family name. As Elite Dangerous are one of the few games which get this naming thing correct (put family in the frount).

Quickest way to do it is to use a stripped down hauler (with a decent jump range and thruster speed), jump to a populated system, self destruct, buy sell any commodity at the respawn station, jump to a new populated system and repeat.

Just traded at a planet, did not count as a market. I guess its all only stations and not planets or carriers. Gonna do this with my semi engineered corvette, and use the cargo as pirate bait.

I Just unlocked Lei Chung after mining like crazy for Selene Jean. I just kept the Gold and sold palladium and platinum at all the markets. I was doing this in a Corvette so I think I didnt get as much attention from the pirates as some of the smaller ships might. lol

When I got to Cheung, I was not asked to donate Gold, he was already unlocked. Is this an Odyssey thing or just changed requirements in 2021?

In my experience, you need to sell cargo at a profit for it to count towards him and I see arguments on the forums about that being/not being true. Not saying it's the case for everyone, hopefully this helps troubleshoot. also wish i knew for a fact that you could trade at different stations in the same system, would have made for much quicker personal narrative

99.99% sure untrue - as you just need to interact with 50 markets. I certainly didn't make a profit at all the ones I hit and I was just fine.

Wheelman Games - play at different time/day if you're able. Or use the block cmdr feature (panel 2 -> history -> select cmdr to block -> select block player from menu) or play in private/solo There are many ways to avoid and up to how you want go about it.

You can, it's stations that count NOT systems, so if you find a system with 50 stations you're set!

I'm having an issue where when I sell to a new market it doesn't increase my market network however the commodities traded number does increase, I am certain I've gone to new different markets each time

It might be a recent bug, I was grinding federation and empire rank, 1 week ago and at the same time trading commodities, I went from 37 to 45. I am trying to complete the other 5 today, I have traded with different stations and My market network is not increasing :(

200 tonnes of Gold is hella dangerous to transport. It's essentially being a pirate magnet...

Sure, not a bad point, but you can usually get it only a few jumps away and NPC interdictions are rather easy to deal with. But good point in that you should certainly bring a ship with proper defenses (which really is *always* a good idea)

I flew in with a 100 gold that ran me about $1,000,000 (with 6 jumps, sweating bullets, and having tourett's Syndrome every time a new contact came up ) then after my first drop looked it up on EDDB to get the other 100 and it was sitting right next door at Stjepan Seljan Hub all this time...lol

Yeah, the best thing you can do is to buy some cargo very early on and just buy/sell every time you land somewhere. If you're not grinding him out specifically it's not too bad but when you have to do it all in one go - yeah, it fucking sucks!

Buy and sell 1 hydrogen fuel at every station u stop in. No need to buy and carry cargo.

CMDR Exigeous yeah I found that every station always has hydrogen fuel for sale and a demand for it so they will buy it back since I was running into stations that didn’t have a demand for the cargo I was carrying to unlock him.

Well to be clear you need only interact with them - so if you buy or sell you're good, it does not have to be at a profit. I tested this will making the video.
