i seen you pour the oil over the cam train before installing the intake,impressed me,that little thing,will insure the cam does not gall or go flat,and it gets oiled first,first 45 seconds firing up a new engine or an old engine with new parts is hell,till the oil gets splashed and pushed into recesses,good work,360 magnums run really good,carbureted better

This is a junkyard engine with roller factory lifters, but any little bit of oil helps. It's now running in the truck and seems to be good.

@@QuickSpeedShop it's a MOPAR they are designed,not thrown together and see if it will work,worked for the corporation for 35 years,not a fan of the new hemi,either design flaw or soft parts causing the cam and lifter failures,this was unheard of in the past,truly,worked for 5 different dealerships back in the day,69-89 NEVER SAW A FLAT CAM,a lot of chevy and pontiac camshafts flat,but that was due to the small diameter lifters they us,most of their lifters interchange between their engines,glad you chose mopar for power

@@strattunerthe cam and lifter failure is due to the angle of the lifters in the bore. The oil doesn't run down the lifter and onto the lobe it stops and drips part way. The only way to keep the cams alive is to not idle very much. The cam needs ad much splash lubrication as it can get. The only cams I've seen go flat are from vehicles that are idled alot like work trucks or company trucks. My daily hemi runs great and i dont idle it. Also the MDS exacerbates the issue of little oil because it essentially shuts the oil off to the lifters.

@@alpha13dylan you are speaking of the hemi for not idling for long periods,i've thought about this problem since they built the hemi 5.7,if it does not oil correctly,beings there are hundreds of thousands of them running up and down the roads all day,it seems to me,to be a oil additive problem to fix so to speak the flaws in design,that's the way i see it,and i'm chrysler trained,i've never seen a blunder like this hemi oiling issue,in 35 years working on mopars

I’m enjoying and learning. Amazing how different the “same” engine can be.

Hopefully you used epoxy paint on the manifold, the castings are porous enough to suck air through the aluminum.

So I’m definitely doing the same thing you are except with a 318 and an edelbrock avs2! Looking forward to more on this build! Curious, what did you use for a tstat and water neck? The parts I ordered, there’s nearly 1/8” of space for the tstat to float around.
@QuickSpeedShop
@QuickSpeedShop Жыл бұрын
I used a replacement Mopar water neck. I did have to measure the opening hole then cross referenced that diameter with an aftermarket high flow thermostat and found the right diameter to fit. I want to say it was a Ford V8 diameter, but I don't remember

@@QuickSpeedShop interesting… I did go with the replacement mopar LA stuff but looks like I’ll have to take the neck to the getting spot for something else!

did you get a flywheel for a magnum because the weight on a LA360 is different than the magnum

Why did you continue putting the intake on knowing you will have to remove it & possibly wreck the new intake caskets to heli coil the front bolt hole that has stripped
@QuickSpeedShop
@QuickSpeedShop Жыл бұрын
I was able to through bolt that hole and put a nut on the bolt due to design of Magnum head.
