What type of shims are used?

[ꜱᴜᴘᴇʀᴍᴀɴ] the shins are 2mm mdf. They are ordered thru the retailer that supplies the laminate flooring.

Looks cool and easy on the video but when I tried to install it, it cracked and not joined laminate floor edge. MDF is too weak

Slawek S the laminate flooring will only “crack” if the primary sub floor or in this case the primary step is not flat/ level.

@@guitarfxer I think you misunderstood me. Laminate floor has not cracked. The strip cracked during tapping on aluminium profile. I was delicate. In a set comes green rubber which goes on the edge of laminate plank. I know it sets strip and floor in line. In my case edge of the strip has bend and nearly came off, plus it has not joined the edge of the floor. One set gone to bin. I will try another one today.

We had cracking too, especially on the T-moulding variant of the 5-in-1. The perforations creates too many weak points in the moulding and they will crack on installation or excessive use. I would not get this again.

Hello. I really like some of presented ideas, but I think You shouldn't step on the stairs before the glue is cured, so maybe it should be done downstairs, no?
@guitarfxer4 жыл бұрын
wojtekstach78 the shims prevent the glue from squeezing out.

ok, but the joint between the plank and the profile can be affected, no?

The most stupid system I ever see in my flooring life I can bet once I buy all stuff (floor, stairnose, silicone,adhesive, shims and way more suff, plus i need to drill holes my self hahah) that ugly cheap looking staircase will cost more then solid unfinished oak beautiful staircase just in materials I don't even want to mention cost of installation of that crap
