the chi-to(tier 6 jp med) compared to this monstrosity had better dpm, better gun handling, better penetration, better mobility, better camo, similar armor value and it sucked hard. That says a lot.

I would'nt say that. I enjoined the Chi-To pretty much. But I have to admit that I played him last time when he came out. (2013 I think or 2014?). At the moment, I am grinding the 40TP and I absolutely hate .

Oddly, it's one of the tanks i have the highest win rate in at 67% with 187 games played. Sure, that's not a ton of tanks, but I was never planning to keep it. lol It still feels like shit to play whenever you start a match, but then you realize that you can basically out dpm anything your tier or lower and many things higher tier than you as well, and it grows on you a little...Just a little. This 40tp seems like it was designed to deter players from progressing further down the line, but that makes no sense, so I doubt it was intended that way. I mean, WG used to always cite research and real-world info when asked to change older tanks, but now they have so many new tanks that were only a pipe dream and have even made changes to real-world tanks that weren't in reality as well, so there's really no real-world excuse anymore for this kind of crap tank to be introduced into the game.

Excactly, it would made much more sense, but Cromwell B is not a bad example as well, i think QB wanted to show us how 40TP stacks up to one of the flagship fast mediums of tier VI. VK 30.01P is a perfect, high-alpha medium "specimen" :)

The most annoying thing about the tank to me is that you can’t play it like a heavy and you can’t play it like medium at all, if you side scrape in the tank or show your side armor a lot of heavy tanks will auto pen it. I’ve had a huge problem with the Japan Heavy tanks where if the see your side at all they’ll auto pen you for your entire HP pool.

I have the P.43 Bis and I like how influential it can be in top-tier matches conpared to other vehicles. In one match, I litteraly saved the whole game by flanking the enemy teams push, using my high alpha and peek-a-boom tactics to save my teamate and an entire flank be myself.

@@Embur12 Yea, the bouciness IMO starts at the Tier V P.43 with its strong front hull and turret armour esp with Angling. Once I tried penning its front with an AMX40 and it didn't work. The P.43 Bis has a nice turret, while it isn't a tier 6 IS-7, it can take hits quite well.

It may sound dumb, but imo the italian 90 mm should have 220 alpha given that the 105 does 360 instead of 390 alpha. It could also make this tank more like the heavy hitter med at tier 6.

I liked the review QB! I agreed on a lot of the points that you made about the 40TP. Just as a side note i would like to suggest not comparing regular tanks to premium ones. In my opinion regular tanks should be compared with regular tanks in order for the comparison to be relevant and believable. ( I got the idea that you picked the Cromwell Berlin, because its arguably the best tier VI medium tank). Cheers from Bulgaria.

I'm a year late and for those that are considering this tank it isn't bad at all. Play it as a support heavy and it works out. I'm doing this with basic crew no perks. Don't get me wrong its not great , buts its by no means a turd . The alpha on the 90mm is pretty tasty , smacks those heavys hard enough to regret broadsides so you can pin them down for your fast meds to flank. Can get some good bounces off the hull. Perhaps its been buffed since this vid ? I don't know as i've only started playing this tank a week ago.

You hit the nail on the head...when its top tier it is bearable, but the 90% of the time you are mid or bottom tier it is a sadistic torture that makes me wonder why I even play the game. I just don't understand why wargaming put such a non-competitive tank into the game. Hopefully, for others, they will add the buffs you suggested to make the experience less like a torture session and a bit more enjoyable. Very good review.

It would be nice to review 25TP as well, in my opinion is the best tier V medium with 75 long gun, others (M4, PzIV,) are good, but this one is really build for it, while others are better with derp guns or 57s. Also the the middle gun is not much of an improvment compared to the stock one, the shell velocity makes it almost unplayable :P I'm about to get 40TP, hope my rage won't destroy the keyboard...or the mouse...or the city block :D

Just had look at tanks I have leveled up, I think I will play the tank similar to the Sherman Jumbo 105mm Gun. (KV 85 style) 50/50 AP and HE loadout. AP for Tier 6 and lower, and mainly HE for 7/8 battles. Thank you for the insight.

I wanted some fun grinding up the Polish tree, but so far it has been mostly despair... There are so many rewarding trees to grind all the way up, but this is not one of them. And I say this with huge regret as a Pole...

The new polish tree is great while I'm grinding the VK 30.02M. Enough armor, firepower, and view range to counter all of them. Also, the Swedish Leo is tier-for-tier better than this, as the VK 30P. Also, unagled, the VK 100 lower plate is 175mm. All you needed was to get a better firing angle, since he was showing it.

Somewhere along the way the 40 TP got some buffs -- better rate of fire (and thus DPM), aim time, accuracy, and hit points. But it's apparently still not very good, being rated (as of this writing) only 25th out of 30 Tier VI mediums (average of WN8 and win rate).

Me and my mates came back to WOT for this update (for the new campaigns) we had some fun we messed around at lower tiers then had a look at the higher tier tanks and saw the blatantly wrong tank design forcing you to either spend gold or free XP. So we simply stopped again well played wg could have had 8 experienced players (who have paid a fair chunk) back and playing.

We are not talking about this tank but the way you are forced to either play a vastly under powered tank or spend free xp or gold in a lot of this line from tier 4 upwards (oddly this is not one of them). I can not say about this tank as I said we stopped playing but as until the Czech line I have every tank in the game with ok 55% w/r and good win 8 this does not look like a good tank and a heavy medium usually has workable armour this does not or at least a accurate gun.

I do very good in the tank with the 75mm gun. the 90mm i just suck. cant hit or kill anything, to slow. the 75mm makes it snappy to fight with. I feel it gives better control. I just run premium ammo and all the goodies for sure to help it.

run the 105 octane fuel, it makes a huge difference, still slow but more manageable although expensive.

I unlocked a lot of things with back to school missions. This tank is a lot harder to grind or play. Italian mediums are indeed better in every way than polish ones.

Personally I think you are being too harsh on the 40TP. Almost everyone thinks the M3 Lee is horrible but I love that tier 4. My first match with it 100% stock I killed 3 Matildas, 2 Hetzers, and a KV-2. Does that tank have weaknesses? Yes but if you learn how to play the strengths and protect the weaknesses it is an amazing vehicle. As for your bounce with APCR on the VK 100.01 P his lower plate was angled slightly while the lower shot trap on the cheek was straight at you. I would have fired into the bottom of his cheek because the Pen was high enough with APCR to go through and the AP has a 50/50 chance of going through from your position into the cheek.

Should compare to VK 3601 H (it was med long time ago ;)), still worse but much closer to it than to Italian or British med. As to Polish tech tree not very polished. Respect for playing 25TP with bofors. I did few games with tops 220dmg then got this mission for 11k (pre planed to have 23/25 before I play 25TP) spend it and on 1st game with top gun did almost 2k dmg and over 9k WN8 against VII :)

I'm still using the stock engine and refuse to waste xp unlocking the top engine when it only works on this tank, not when it costs a quarter of the xp needed to unlock the tier 7 tank, that's just taking the piss. So it's terribly slow and my win rate in it is awful but you know, it doesn't feel that bad playing it because you can really hit hard and that makes up for a lot of deficiencies.

Also tiers 5-6 are got SPG's with very good reload time, so slug-tanks as this are punished massively.

There are 2 tanks I hate when I'm in these tears in one of my (many) TD's, the 40TP and those bloody French musquito's, the things that come flying by pumping my TD full rounds before I even see them. But I did not like the 40TP my self. I do not know why. I like German tanks the most but I love my Rudy and KV1. Like you I love the Swedish TD's, my pride and joy is the Strv S1.
