Without Quiet Riot, 80's Metal could of been too soft in the US, with less bass, less drums, and less anthems. Kevin Dubrow had the most infectious smile. I met him and the rest of Quiet Riot at a record signing 37 years ago in Northwest Indiana, just outside of Chicago. That was WAAAAAAY back when I was just 19 years old. They had already been on the road for several months, and this was probably the 100th one of these record signing things they had attended, but every one of them acted like there was nowhere else on earth they'd rather be. I wanted so badly to purchase an album for them to sign, but I didn't have the money, so when I got up to the table where they were all seated, I figured I'd just meet them, shake their hands and that would be that. It would still have been the highlight of my month. Carlos asked if I wanted them to sign anything, and I said I didn't have the money to purchase a record, as I had spent my money on the concert ticket. He grabbed a Quiet Riot LP, signed it and handed it down the line for the rest of the band to sign. When Kevin signed it, he handed it to me, smiled and said, "Merry Christmas." I remember it being like a week after the 4th of July. I've never forgotten Kevin's smile, Frankie's hair, and how generous they were to some nobody Midwestern kid in raggedy jeans who was just happy to be meeting some rock stars.
