Wow! Great idea! Awesome video! Artsy. Very zen. I loved the train station sequences, especially getting to hear the street sounds, the salesmen by the station and all the train station and traffic noises and announcements... they all brought me right back... I could almost taste the food... I love the shots of the ticket machines... the Jizō statues... I find myself pausing and just looking... or replaying some of those amazing pans. You could just plant a camera in any of those spots and it would make for really good watching...really nice views of a wonderful country... It's incredible how little chatting you hear in huge commuting crowds... You blend in well ... just a little sumimasen and despite being quiet, you communicated well! Reminds me of these silent days we do in JH's now... a great meditation... Well... Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, for letting me travel through you... Happy trails! I hope you are both well!

Okay, I can honestly say this is one of (if not THE) best videos you ever made! I wasn't sure about the not talking part at first, but it grew on me very quickly. All the POV shots without any narration just made me feel like I was there myself, as if a dream come true. The beautiful scenery, the ambient sounds, all of it. At first I was like "I'll take a quick look at this". 42 minutes later "Aaaaw, it's over so soon :( ". The immersion is amazing! Make more of these, please?

7:32 Mt. Buko I am a truck driver going through this area everyday. My way from Honjo to Chichibu via Yorii crosses Chichibu railway 2 times. Chichibu is good ASMR place. We can hear sound of music Edelweiss at noon around Chichibu downtown area. It's very relaxing.

No commentary was weird at first but ended up being awesome. Background noises sure enhanced the immersion. Hope to see more of this. Also, I really loved how Eric committed until the end and didn't pronounce any single word. Congrats on the effort.

Wasn't sure I was going to like this at first without some commentary to explain the interesting things in the video but it was really cool to hear all the ambient noises. Normally we can't hear them for all the narration going on, for instance, all the little musical "jingles" at the railway station. It kind of gives us a taste of what it's like for you guys in between filming as you explore Japan. Really cool video and the facial expressions were very funny.

At 10:40 I think that sign is saying if you want to go into this area you have to wear hunting clothing. I know here in the state of Minnesota if you want to go on hunting land you must being wearing bright orange so people don't mistake you as game.

I really love this silent introduction of Chichibu city. I didn't know some of them, actually I'm living in Kumagaya, where very close to Chichibu though haha. and can I ask a question? while you was traveling Chichibu, is there any place or guide to get information in English? In this video, you used the google map mostly, I just thought few English informations there is... thanks!

There is a tourist information area, and I did notice some English, but to be honest I can read enough Japanese I don't usually even look for English information anymore. By the way we lived in Kumagaya for two years and loved it there! If you haven't been, check out 秀萬! Hahahah. -E

Given that you guys relay lots of information via speech, I felt like I was missing out on things (especially the signage) and the video felt a little too remote. I could see have a scene of this video style inside of your other videos to give an idea of the experience of the area or event.

Jimmy Kudo I agree! I usually like "Only in Japan", but I thought his hitchhiking videos were lacklustre. Eric was very informative in his hitchhiking series, and OiJ seemed to not have much to say about anything (I couldn't get past the first video) :/ Don't get me wrong, I still appreciate OiJ's video content. But Eric's hitchhiking videos will always be tops!

This was a genuine joy to watch. Really different than anything I've seen before, and though I wasn't sure what to expect, it's amazing how well you managed to get across so much info, and how much you were able to communicate with us while not saying anything. Question though about that first place you stayed, it looked pretty sketch, almost as though you were staying in someone's storage area they had converted to a Airbnb or something. Is that close to reality?

Haha, so I stayed in the same place the entire time, but had trouble getting footage to show exactly what the place was like because it was either dark or the owners were around and it was kinda like their living room so I wasn't super comfortable shooting video with them in their "private" space. That room was just the room everyone hangs out in because it has heat, I had my own bedroom in the back of the building which was a HUGE ryokan. -E

Ahh okay. I guess if they were living in it it makes a bit more sense. I was just seeing the random things laying around, or leaning against walls and was thinking, you wouldn't see that in a hotel/"profesional" airbnb(The kind where it's basically an actual hotel.). Still, it looked pretty interesting! And the views in that area man! So beautiful!
